1.
Hmm, this entire story is one persons word against the other. I don't think we can dismiss what Americano is saying just because the OP is a member here. If they have issues that they still need to sort out, they should do it. Just not on a public forum where it's going to end up like a playground fight.
+1
2. I think you're a lucky one voodoosnake, I still have my favourite bass ever, my '72 Precision. My problem is that I need 5 strings for one of my bands, and I really like having a low B, so my ideal bass would be a '72 P, with 5 strings.......even a modern Precision 5 just doesn't do it, I don't like the low Bs. I like my SR5, and my G&L5, but they're just not the same.........I fear I'll never have what I want. I'll guess I'll just have to keep buying more basses.
3. I was looking for a small cab recently, and today a Markbass 2x10 combo arrived, the 1x15 will arrive next week. It will look great beside the EBS rig I needed the small cab for............how many amps is enough?
4. (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher, after years of playing this repetitive simple line it still intrigues me how well it works.
5. How come when someone else is selling something I want it's gone before I get a chance to buy it, but when I'm selling something no one wants it????
6. we usually put drums, guitar and bass down before vocals, I quite often have to change my bass line after the vocals are done so I don't clash with the vocal melody. Guitars usually keep strumming away in D (he loosens up his fattest wire a bit and it changes it to D).
7.
Put your bass down. Listen to what the rest of the instruments are doing paying particular attention to the drums and vocals. Sing the bass line (in your head if your actual singing's not very good). Now pick up your bass and play what you've been singing.
+1 This also stops you just playing the same patterns over every song.
8. To be honest, if I was in the audience, the vocals would make me leave before the bass started. And once everybody had gone home he might aswell enjoy himself.
9. We start with a River Deep, Misirlou, Wipeout medley usually gets them going, that's after the first dance, whic is often rubbish, but tomorrow it's It Must Be Love, which will be fun.
10. That's looking great, I really like the burst, looking forward to seeing it finished
11. I have a 2 MM pups in my .....errrrr MM, and they can both run as single coils, not a perfect Jazz bass sound, but pretty close, sounds great for my use anyway. Using a coil tap gives me more options too, so worth checking out imo
12. I'm having a bit of a clear out, and this I'm going to let this go. It's a nice Amp, and I've used it for trad/folk gigs, and some theatre work, but at the moment it's too big to use a practise amp, and too small to be a gig amp. Ideally I'd like it to be collected from Edinburgh as I'd prefer if it was tried first, also it would probably be expensive to post.
13. this one?
14. possibly a Tanglewood Rebel
15. This is an amazing cab, why is it still here? I have one already, and Tal Wilkenfeld uses them.
16. I have on in my Stingray and it's amazing, I'd use one in any bass.
17. bottom row, second fro right, you look a bit like Leon Wilkeson here.
18. Here's a couple of my gear at lasts night gig on Mull
19. I have a John East in my Stingray 5, and I boost the bass a little, boost the treble when it's needed, and I'm still getting to grips with the sweepable mid, so usually just boost a little hi-mid when I need to cut through. I mostly use the bridge pup, but add in the neck one for a fatter sound. For softer songs I use both pups as single coils. I use the eq on the bass a lot, generally my EBS HD350 is pretty flat, but I us all the controls on the bass to enhance certain characteristics of the bass. I get the "wrong gear" guys idea, and clearly a shorts scale gibson wouldn't be any good to me, but I like a versatile bass, that can cut it for any gig. What kind of band do the "wrong gear" people play in?
20.
What's the finish on the 'ibazez?' fingerboard?
It's laquered maple, it's an '82 and apart from a few dings on the side the fingerboard is perfect.
21. I love my Stingray, but buy heck I'd love a USA G&L L2500 too.......and my P...........I'd also like a Sadowski............
22. These are awesome basses, you will love it,
