Classic Japanese OC-2. Fully working. Cosmetically quite rough (reflected in the price). I don’t know the exact age and I’m not sure whether the ACA → 9V mod has been done, however: • Works perfectly on battery • Works perfectly when powered from my TU-3 (daisy-chain) • Tracks as expected and sounds exactly as an OC-2 should Currently fitted with a different BOSS base plate with Velcro on it, but includes the original rubber base and screws. No original box or manual. £150 UK postage: £10 Happy to meet in / around Edinburgh, or post at buyer’s cost

Well-used Keeley Bassist compressor, in fully working condition. Cosmetically it’s not in great nick, but functionally it’s exactly as it should be. Includes original box manual / paperwork Velcro on the base, as it’s lived on a board. Anyone who knows the Bassist will know how good these are, simple, transparent, and very effective compression. £90 Happy to meet in / around Edinburgh, or can post for around £10 UK at buyer’s cost.

Everyone here knows what this is, an incredibly powerful and versatile synth pedal. I’ve been going back and forth between this and the MXR Bass Synth for the last couple of months, but for the sake of simplicity on live gigs I’ve decided to stick with the MXR for now. So, the C4 is up for sale. In great working order, velcro on the base. £120 Happy to meet in / around Edinburgh, or I can post for around £10 (at cost).

This is the switchable 4–12 ohm version of the Barefaced 210S (no tweeter). Silver front, very classic look and a great sounding, very capable cab for its size. I bought this on here around a year and a half ago for £450, but I’ve simply not used it as much as I expected to, so I’m moving it on. Full disclosure: when I bought it, the Tolex on the back was already peeling and taped up. I haven’t needed to touch it since. It’s purely cosmetic and hasn’t affected use at all. Since buying it, I’ve added a Roqsolid cover, which will be included in the sale. Price: £400 I’m happy to try and source a box, but that may take some time. I’d definitely prefer local collection in / around Edinburgh, or a meet-up within a reasonable distance.

I bought this just last week, form @elliott_Þórunn hoping to keep it as I had one before and absolutely loved it. I sold my first Capo when I bought my Noble, and this one was going to live on a backup pedalboard. Unfortunately, I’ve had some unexpected car costs come up, so I’m going to need to let it go a lot quicker than I would have liked. It’s a really fantastic bit of kit, anyone who knows what it is will know it’s a true Swiss Army knife of preamp pedals. Comes with the manual and original box but not the little fabric bag. Velcro on the base. £430, which is exactly what I paid for it last week. Collection available in Edinburgh, or postage at cost.

It can be really frustrating, it's Abba of all things that's highlighting this for me. The intro to Does Your Mother Know, I'm back to just using a dirty octave sound on my Octabvre because live (and probably faster than it should be) the tracking just isn't reliable enough on the MXR or C4. That's why I like a big pedal board though, if one thing fails, or just can't be made to work for a song, I have plenty of other things I can use instead.
-
I play in a wedding band, part of the fun (for me) is getting close to the original sound. I use a classic octave-fuzz-chorus combo and I've had various synth pedals over the years. A pedal board is just something I always have, I use the same one for every gig, a standalone synth would be another thing to take, set up and require space. I have seen other wedding band guys do a great job with keyboard synths, and others doing a great job with just a bass into a DI. There are no right answers, but a lot of the fun (for me) is trying out different things. I'm sort of losing patience with the tracking for faster songs with the mxr, so I think I'll try the FI VIP next, @Quatschmacher any ideas when the new presets will be available?
-
Yes, there are a few ways to use the external footswitch, or expression pedal, but one of them is scrolling the presets. Using the footswitch on the pedal is fine for scrolling through presets as long as you don't need to change during a song. If you want to do that the easiest way is to use an expression pedal, you can save a setting for the up and down position of the pedal, so going between them is easy - it actually blends between them, which can be cool if you want that, but if not just being quick with the pedal works fine.
-
I have a lot of friends working there, and they know me well enough to know I won't buy one new - still I'm sure I can persuade them to get me one to try anyway.
-
If you hold down the footswitch the lights start flashing, then you can scroll through the presets using the footswitch. I'm not keen on pressing the little button with my foot, seems like it's asking for trouble in the long run.

Does anyone in or around Edinburgh have one of these yet, now that my Sandberg is finally sold I can start to think a bit about a new one. I definitely don't like the longer scale Dingwalls, but I think the 35"-32" (ish) 5 string sounds ideal for me, but I would like to try one first. Happy to provide coffee and cake if anyone would let me noodle on one for a few minutes.

Bass direct had a social media post showing lots of them in stock - might be worth checking there if you want it quicker.

I'm using a Truetone CS12 on my board, I swap the MXR Bass Synth and the Source Audio C4 in and out depending on my mood - I've still not settled on one - and it's been working fine. I think I'm using one of the 250mA outputs, but it might be 500mA one - it seems to be fine with the MXR. I'll double check which output I'm using later.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but seems better than starting again - I have a 3 Leaf You're Doom, and I have the option to trade it for a Doom 2, but it'll cost me around £150 to swap. Is it worth it, I'm really happy with the You're Doom, it is really simple to dial in between songs for live use and it never sounds bad. I do like the eq option on the Doom 2 though, seems like it will be even more versatile, but will it be as usable live? Anyone who has tried both, is it worth £150 to "upgrade", or should I just be happy with what I have?

I tried this today with my C4 and MXR - sure enough I heard it on the C4 and my tuner picked it out too. I couldn't hear it on the MXR though there may have been a really tiny drop in pitch according to the tuner. That might just be an artifact of the tuner not really being able to pick out the main note - I guess it's designed for a simple bass note, not synth tones with modulation on them. I must say though I hadn't heard that on the C4 but I'm mostly using it at gigs and rarely hold notes long enough for them to decay that much. That led me to mess around with the note hold function on the MXR - that is a very fun way to keep a note going, probably not something I'll need, but definitely something I'll play with. I had fun comparing the IMA sledgehammer setting on the MXR to my "setting" of just using my octave and chorus - I prefer that to the MXR. And my "go to" synth sound of octave/fuzz/chorus still holds up favourably to some of the MXR sounds, though clearly isn't as versatile.
