I tried this today with my C4 and MXR - sure enough I heard it on the C4 and my tuner picked it out too. I couldn't hear it on the MXR though there may have been a really tiny drop in pitch according to the tuner. That might just be an artifact of the tuner not really being able to pick out the main note - I guess it's designed for a simple bass note, not synth tones with modulation on them. I must say though I hadn't heard that on the C4 but I'm mostly using it at gigs and rarely hold notes long enough for them to decay that much. That led me to mess around with the note hold function on the MXR - that is a very fun way to keep a note going, probably not something I'll need, but definitely something I'll play with. I had fun comparing the IMA sledgehammer setting on the MXR to my "setting" of just using my octave and chorus - I prefer that to the MXR. And my "go to" synth sound of octave/fuzz/chorus still holds up favourably to some of the MXR sounds, though clearly isn't as versatile.

There is a story about that - in an attempt to reduce the amount of gear I replaced my pedals with a HX Stomp, I didn't like it so I replaced the HX Stomp with some Source Audio stuff (I liked the idea of preset patches), I didn't like the UI for the the Genesis Chorus so I replaced it, the envelope filter was cool, but it was all available in the C4 and I prefer the 3Leaf as just a straight up filter, so I replaced them. Then I just go a lot of GAS and I replaced evertything, usually more than once. Pretty sure @krispn and I have bought and sold enough gear off each other to start a shop. TLDR I really like pedals. I think the tracking low down is a little better on the MXR (that might just be imagined), latency is completely fine on both, nothing that would be distracting in any of the sounds I used. The only difficulty I had with the C4 was how sensitive the input gain was, particularly for dirty Moog kind of sounds. I'd set it at home and it would be perfect, but then on a gig I'm digging in a bit more, and it would't like it, adjusting mid-song was hard because you can't actually see where the input gain is on any sound, so you can't just nudge it up or down. I'm not really sure how the input gain works on the MXR, but I used 2 basses last night and the Musicman is quite a bit louder than the McIntyre, and it didn't seem to be an issue at all using the same IMA preset with both instruments - that would have really caused issues with the C4. No recordings from last night, but I'll try and get some clips tonight (fewer deps tonight, so it should sound better too).

Decided to just dive straight in and use it on my wedding gig, I'm just home and it was a huge success (as in no one else noticed). I took the C4 off and but the MXR on. I had to make a sound for I Wanna Dance With Somebody, but it was really intuitive, and even though it took 5 minutes, I think I liked it more than the C4 patch that took hours. I also made a sound for Blinding Lights, again a 5 minute job, this wasn't as good as the C4 sound I got from the Source Audio site, but it was still very passable, and I think I can improve on it with a little bit of time. I used the synthadelic IMA patch (based on Flashlight by Parliament) for a couple of things - mostly for my own amusement and used the "live setting" to entertain myself during We Got the Love. I'm very pleased, though I was also happy with the C4, the biggest gain is how easy it is to adjust on a gig and how intuitive it is to use.

That's exactly what I needed to hear, thank you - the bass I had custom made was largely because I do 4 hour wedding sets a few times a week and the Musicman and Sandberg were starting to take their toll on my back and shoulders. I think the green is going to be the one.

I had a bass made for me a few years ago (still my main bass), but apart from that, I've never bought a new instrument - but this one ticks a lot of boxes for me. I won't get a chance to try one, unless Guitar Guitar decide to stock them in Edinburgh, but even then, I'd prefer to buy from Bass Direct. So thinking sensibly, how has the weight been on the ones people have tried or bought? Would it benefit from a preamp or is it versatile enough as-is? What colour is the best, I don't really like the sunburst, but the rest are all lovely.

Sandberg California series used to look very much like Fender P and J basses, but a few years back they changed shape slightly. I guess Fender put some pressure on them. The new shapes are nice, but I still prefer this design. The old one is what I have fro sale, the new one looks like this.. https://images.app.goo.gl/hS73DPv62uQvmGP5A

Selling a few pedals that aren’t getting much use. All in good working condition, all have Velcro on the base. Origin Effects Cali76 Compact Bass – SOLD Early model. Had it for around nine years, always been on the board but well looked after until I got the new version recently - I like the VU meter on the new one. Good condition. Comes with original box, no manual. Way Huge Pork & Pickle – SOLD Overdrive/fuzz combo. Been on my board for a few years, good condition. Comes with original box, no manual. Behringer Bass Brassmaster Clone – £35 Very lightly used, comes with box and manual. Prefer collection in Edinburgh, but can post at buyer’s cost (around £8 per pedal unless buying more than one).

I'm not sure about this one, I might still change my mind, it's one of the best basses I've ever owned, but (very big but) it is really heavy. According to my cheap luggage scales it's 4.9Kg. I bought it here around 10 years ago, I used it for wedding gigs until my back hurt too much, sold it to a friend then bought it back again because it's so nice - I sort of forgot about the weight issue. It has a John East J retro fitted (John kindly provided a matching switch for the coil split too, so it looks very neat). My friend kept the original Glockenlang preamp for another bass when I bought it back, but I didn't like the eq on it anyway. My friend managed to dig a big thumb hole by the bridge pickup in the short time he had it, and it has a few dings on the headstock, picked up at gigs over the years (see pics). Apart from that it's in good condition. The only reason to let this go would be to get something more useful for me, short scale 5 (wilcock), or a hollow body (Warwick or Ibanez?) or a Genzler Kinetix. If you have a strong back, or like heavy instruments, this might be among the best basses around. PS the photos were taken on a really sunny day, it usually doesn't look so red, it's normally closer to brown, but the matt sunburst changes depending on the light - I love it. Edit to say, I have the original Sandberg gig bag (practically unused) I'd prefer collection in Edinburgh, or meet within reasonable distance, particularly given the weight...

I bought this bass off @jrixn1 just over 2 years ago I believe, I've loved having it, but it just doesn't get the use it should, I prefer 5s so though a P5 would be nice to have, but turns out, I still prefer 4 strings precisions. I think this is the price I bought it for, and it hasn't really changed since then, but I'm open to sensible offers. Currently strung with LaBella flats, but I can put rounds on if you prefer. Body: chambered alder with flamed maple top and back Neck: 21-fret (plus zero fret) hard rock flamed maple with rosewood fingerboard, blocks, and vintage white binding Scale length: 34" Headstock: originally matching, it was subsequently refinished by JP Guitars, Bristol. Nut width: 45mm Tuners: Hipshot USA Ultralites Pickups: Delano PC 5 AL/M2 (neck) and JC 5 AL (bridge) Controls: Volume, volume, tone; push-pull on the tone for both pickups in series. Bridge: Gotoh 205B-5, 18m spacing Weight: 3.585kg, and perfectly balanced - a real pleasure to play. Some info from the previous owner that I would not have noticed or known about if it wasn't pointed out -> It also arrived with stripped neck screws; these have been replaced. Truss rod works correctly in both directions. N.B. Maruszczyk truss rods are clockwise to loosen and anti-clockwise to tighten (i.e. against convention). There are a couple of small marks on the body, one of which has been painted over (see photos). I'd prefer collection in Edinburgh, or delivery/meet up within a reasonable distance, but I can sort postage at buyers expense if necessary. Cash would be ideal, but, I really want a Genzler Kinetix so happy to trade. I'm also after a short scale, and a Fender Coronado. For some reason I can't upload any more photos, I'll try again later (and include a post it note with date, but if anyone wants photos before that, let me know and I'll send them over)

I'm thinning the herd to focus on getting a few things I'm after. I like this bass, a lot, but since getting a USA Musicman Sub This just hasn't been out at all. There are some signs of wear, particularly at the headstock (see pictures), but it palys and sounds as it should. The original machine heads were rubbish so I put some Schallers on it. I'm ideally looking for pick up or delivery, I'm in Edinburgh, but happy to meet within reasonable distance. I have gig bags (lots of them) and I can fashion a box if needs be, but postage would need to be paid by the buyer. Still, I'd prefer you try it first... Cash is king, but, a short scale Fender looking thing, or a Coronado might persuade me. Just noticed the new proof of ownership thing, I'll get a pic with a post it note later today - I just took the photos yesterday, just because it wasn't raining in Edinburgh.

I love it, sounds warm and lovely, but still enough top end when I dig in. It's not FRFR at all, but I love the colour of it.

Second gig with the GSS Baby Sumo into Barefaced Two10 with the Noble preamp at the front. Really chuffed with the sound of it. The engineer just mic'd it up too, so he likes it.

I hadn't noticed that!

It's finished, again. Still not totally happy with the envelope filter, but it's the best small one I've found. I'd like a noise gate, but there's no room...

I did a search for duty and DV247, the content seemed relevant, so rather than starting a new post I decided to ask here. Sorry if that was the wrong thing to do.
