Cabs now £400 each or swap for a mustang, ebo, hofner, thunderbird or some other interesting hollow body and or short scale. I've changed my setup a lot recently, I've gone from using a (mic'd up) Genzler rig with a Radial DI, to just using a Noble preamp with IEMs. I carry a small Markbass 2x8 combo for a bit of stage sound, but I never hear it anyway. I still have a big EBS rig (that's never used), so I'm reluctant to keep the Genzler too, although I'll definitely keep the Magellan, for now. I have 2 Genzler 12-3 slants. I'll definitely sell one, although I will sell 2 if I can get my hands on a Barefaced two10. That's £450 each, to avoid confusion. I have the Genzler dust covers, but no boxes, so collection or meetup would be preferred, though I'm sure I can find a box if needed. The cabs are in my lockup just now, but I can get pics if needed, in the mean time here's some action shots from gigs....

My first pedalboard was full of huge pedals, a big muff, QTron, Ashdown compressor. Particularly in the case of that compressor, bigger is not always better. 😄

GAS has taken over so I need to get rid of stuff I don't use. Add £8 for UK postage. I'm not after trades, unless it's a 3 Leaf Doom. Open to realistic offers, particularly if picked up in Edinburgh. **sold** Source Audio spectrum £120 *SOLD* Zvex Wooly Mammoth fuzz £100 ** sold ** Darkglass DFZ. £70 ** Sold ** Aguilar Octamizer £90 **sold** Analogue Music Company SHSL £120 Genzler re/Q £100 This is cheaper than I've seen, sometimes the eq footswitch takes a couple of presses. It could just need a clean, but might need a new footswitch. Works perfectly apart from the switch being temperamental. Used a lot, but mostly the filter section, and the Broughton hp/lp pedal takes up less room. Velcro, original box. Darkglass B3K £100 I've had this for years, bought new and used continuously until very recently. No box or manual, velcro on base. EBS Wah 1 £80 Bought here, but not used much since. It's just too big for my board. Works perfectly and looks good. The active passive button works, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to look like that or if there's a cover missing. Velcro on base, but feet back on too. No box or manual. ** Sold **MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe £80 ** sold ** last one is the weirdest. Anasounds Utopia £80

There is a bass that I NEED to buy, so trying to raise some cash quickly. This has been my backup amp for ages, so it hasn't seen much use recently. I had it serviced at Axe Management guitars in Edinburgh a few months back, so it's working well, but the blue LEDs in the little glass window at the front don't work. All the important LEDs do work. The original carry bag is in decent condition. I've resisted selling this as I love the sound, but I use my Magellan 800 all the time now and it is more versatile. Not sure how much postage will be, but happy to arrange something in the uk. Not looking for trades, but could be tempted by a 3 Leaf Doom. Open to offers, particularly if it's collected in person in Edinburgh.

I bought this Fralin p bass split coil pickup here at some point. The intention was to put it in my '72 while I was having the original pickup rewound, I never got around to it, now the original pickup is back in and the Fralin is gathering dust. It looks like it's never been used, but I don't know for sure. The ends of the wires look totally untouched and the screws look unused. Sticker and usual stuff still in the box. Add £8 for recorded delivery in the UK. Not really looking for trades, I'm trying to raise cash quick for a bass I NEED in my life, so open to realistic offers.

Ha, well yes, that's a valid point. I guess I'm looking for a small useful cab that will pair up with my preamp for gigs that I don't need a bigger amp. The wedding band works fine with the wee markbass, I just don't really love it. I have other bands though, so it would have uses besides keeping a drummer happy. 😄 I guess the most important thing to note is that I have GAS for a thing, and I may not be satisfied until I have that thing, regardless of how useful it actually will be.

I've recently gone almost ampless in my wedding band, I'm using a Noble preamp/di and iems so the amp is sort of irrelevant. I still use my Genzler for bigger venues, but even then, it's not really adding anything for me. The drummer still likes a little stage volume, so I've been using my Markbass 208 (older 150w version). It's fine, but I'd actually prefer to not have the preamp section, and there's no effects loop or power amp input on the Markbass. I saw a bass direct ad for a GRbass powered 2x10 that looked interesting. Anyone tried it yet? Any other small powered cabs I should try? I have tried using a pa speaker, but I feel like I always want to add eq to it, I'd prefer something voiced for bass, so when I plug the Noble in it sounds like a bass amp.

I love mine for gigs, it's got volume for days, I normally use it with a single Genzler 112 cab, sometimes I take 2, but I never really NEED to. What's really impressive is that it works well at home too, it still sounds good at low volumes, I've not heard any noise and the fan is really quiet. I've not tried the headphone out, I'll give it a go later on just to see. I know you didn't ask, but the DI is superb on it too.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I found it when searching for info on EBS patch cables. I ordered loads of them earlier this year to tidy up my pedal board. They are ideal for my fairly big board and they fit well with the Boss ES8 loop/switch pedal. They've been working well, I've had some issue with electrical interference in some venues, but I put it down to some other changes I made at the same time. I play 2 or 3 nights a week in a function band, and a lot more over the summer, so my pedal board is in and out of the flight case a lot. I take care of my gear, but it is used a lot. Last week I accidentally kicked my pedalboard during a gig and there was a lot of noise. I assumed there was a loose connection somewhere, and didn't worry about it. I just checked each cable at home yesterday, all of the EBS cables are making a lot of noise with just the slightest movement. I still have lots of old patch cables and the Fender, MXR and Roland were all fine, even a few obviously cheap plastic cables I've had for at least 10 years were better than EBS. I've changed out the cables that are always on, compressor to Boss ES8 to hpf/lpf to preamp/di. The effects are all on loops on the ES8 so I've left them alone for now, because I don't have any other cables that will fit well. The ES8 ins and outs are too close together for pancake jacks, and most of my patch cables are mxr pancake jacks. All that is a long way to say what's the best solution for patch cables? I'm thinking that ordering decent jacks and cable and making my own will be the best option, but I would prefer to not solder that many cables if I can avoid it. The video above seems to rate Providence cables quite highly, are they worth a shot? Anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks for arranging all this @krispn. I hope you've managed to get some time with the Capo too. It's a great bit of gear.

So, I've been using the Capo for a while on my usual wedding gig. It is phenomenal. I use iems and for the last few years I've used a mic on the bass cab because I just couldn't get a sound I liked in my ears from a DI. Once I got the Capo I stopped micing the cab, it sounds incredible. I've been running it clean, but on the point of break-up so when I dig in I get some dirt, then I use the gain from the B side preamp to add some more dirt when needed. Now that has been amazing, until my Noble Preamp showed up. It has the nicest clean sound I've ever heard, through the PA, iems, studio monitors and my Genzler amp, it is the perfect clean tone. This weekend I used the Noble as a preamp DI, and used the Capo as an overdrive pedal, it was incredible, but the Capo won't be used as a DI or Clean preamp again, or not regularly anyway. And it takes up a lot of space (not to mention money) to be just used as an overdrive. So, with complete awareness of my privilege and the first-world-problemness of this, should I keep the Capo as a backup DI, and if so should I use it as a 2 stage overdrive pedal, or more reasonably, should I sell it and buy a decent overdrive pedal? If I should, and I already know I should, sell it, what overdrive pedal should I buy that will do that lovely saturated sound the Capo gives? I used to use a B3K and I still have it, but it sounds so thin and brittle compared to the Capo. There isn't enough low end left in the dirty signal, and the blend knob is just a workaround rather than a proper fix. The Capo doesn't do full on distortion, but the drive is big and fat and clear even at max gain. Is there a pedal that can do that that will be cheaper and smaller? Here's a pic just because it's a thing of beauty....

My origin compressor is taped, it looks rubbish, but it saves a lot of hassle.

Mine is always on too, but my pedalboard is angled and putting the Capo on the top row stops it from fitting into the flight case. Otherwise I'd do that. My next job is to find something to stop the knobs moving so easily. Last night I was short on space and my cable kept moving the gain knob. It was really annoying.
-
Sorry, my pedalboard is at my lockup because I'm gigging the rest of the week so I don't have any decent pictures. But I'll show you what I have. I made up a cable using these bits... And a normal male xlr connector to finish it off. The xlrf into the Capo stays there full time and doesn't take up much space. At a gig I just plug in via the side of my pedalboard....

My Maruszczyk has a bent bit of tin style bridge, which is what I wanted. I have a McIntyre bass with a Hipshot A style bridge, and that's excellent. My Sandberg has their own version of the Hipshot A, and it's very nice too. If you want a chunky, high mass bridge I'd go with Hipshot or badass/omega. If you want something a bit more traditional just get a decent bbot like Fender or Wilkinson.

I was in the process of clearing out all my spares and extras, after making a board I'm happy with... but there were too many pedals I couldn't part with, so I stuck a new spare/compact/practise board together.... I'll move the genzler r-eq on to the smaller board once I get a lpf pedal for the big one. I might swap the tuners around too. The Boss is a little quicker, even though it takes up more space....

After buying a lot of pedals and preamps recently I'm fairly happy with my pedalboard, and I've even kept enough back for a small backup board. It's time to let some stuff go, although there are a few things here that I'm really quite fond of, I just don't think I'll use them enough again.... Just the POG2 and Flanger left. *Sold* Boss OC-3 £50 + £8 UK postage. This has been used a lot. Has the original box, but stupidly I peeled off the rubber on the base to fit velcro. *Sold* MXR M287 Sub Octave Bass Fuzz £100 + £8 UK postage Well used, perfect working order, but a few dings and scratches. Velcro on base. Original box. *sold* TC Vortex Flanger £30 + £8 UK postage Hardly used. Original box. I don't have a manual or usb cable, not sure if it came with them. Darkglass DFZ fuzz £90 + £8 UK postage - withdrawn. Gonna keep this for my smaller board. EHX POG 2 £150 + £8 UK postage Makes cool bowed string, organ and 8/12 string bass sounds. I'd like to keep this one, but in reality it doesn't get much use. Velcro on base. Ehx psu. Original box. The selector button/knob is slightly bent. I think it was pressed a little too enthusiastically. Perfect working order. Sold . EHX Bass Mono Synth. £60 + £8 UK postage. This is pretty cool but I picked up a Source Audio C4 so I can't see myself using this again. Has Velcro on base. Good condition. Original box, but I can't find the psu. SOLD * 3 Leaf Audio Wonderlove Deluxe £280 + £8 postage. I have no idea how to price this. There's one on Reverb for £450. I'm open to offers. It's good, but I have a Proton and I find it more intuitive and smaller, so I'm keeping that. Velcro on base. Original box and manual and rubber feet that have never been used. There's a bit of bubbling on the paint, it doesn't feel like it'll peel off any time soon, but I've circled it in some photos. I'm totally open to offers and trades. Mostly after a Noble preamp and a 3 Leaf Octabvre, and a USA G&L2500 but could be tempted by other things too.

I'm using a Jad Freer Capo with it just now. Works really well.
