1. You can count me in. How about somewhere like The Adelphi in Leeds? It's in the centre. Is a nice pub. Has a big room upstairs that may be hireable? Either an event or just a beer? Thoughts?
2. I went to see Hooky in December. The band had both him and a second bass player. He does play his bass more like a lead than a trad bass so the sound worked really well. Have to say it was a bloomin fantastic show. Good voice, great songs and playing plus his inimitable style. In terms if master class, I'd defo love to see him. May not be to everyone's taste but hey, I don't especially dig Wootton. Different strokes etc....Andy
3. So is it for sale still? PMs sent no replies. If its sold or not for sale could you let us know please? Thanks
4.
I don't like a gretsch..... This one to be precise....
I have one of these! Bought it for my son a few years ago. I've had worse but have to agree its not my fave....good job was damn cheap
5. Like it too. Can't wait for the album. What a great surprise. Happy birthday Mr Bowie
6. We do a straight 2 hours. Is not a problem but you know you've played that night when u get home. I love the show not the packing up etc so we're all happy to play that long. Landlords like it too as it helps keep customers in rather than have a break and risking letting em go to the next pub. I used to use an 8x10. Lovely but way too big for most places we played. Orange terror bass for me now - much easier on the back! My advice - little powerful rig, decent strap. You'll be happy. Andy
7. Ace that there's so many of us bass boys and girls in Leeds!
8. Taylor musicians bag. Ace
9. Ours was ok after all. A lot of v pissed people several of whom left early having had full days on the lash. Main difference was that there were lots of dancers as soon as we went on. Some interesting moves being busted too! God bless beer. Now trying to gee myself up to go do it again tonight.......
10. About to embark on what promises to be a bonkers night. Playing on Mad Friday in Leeds. Facebook and twitter is full of people already out boozing - hopefully will be great (as will tomorrows too) but who knows? ......... expecting lots of "can I have a go on your guitar mate?" , "my mates in a band can he sing one?" last wek had a guy come up when we were 30 mins in to packing up and say "mate - I'm dying of cancer, can you play Christmas baby please come home?" Blimey. Ah well.....bring it on.....
11.
.......Ok then
He he - don't despair Fumps. I'm sure he'll be in touch. Wonder where they rehearse in Bramley?
12. ...and that's why this is such a great forum. Good work guys and thankyou again. Andy
13. I use Netobjects Fusion to do mine www.thecardinals.co.uk. Works a treat
14. Centre for me as I'm the singer too. Price I pay is having to squeeze in front of kick drum and being last to fit my gear in as guitarists take left n right and drummer sets up his enormous kit.
15. There were loads of skins, old style punks, oi punks, normal looking folks like me and all ages (little kids - 60+ year olds) Really nice atmosphere. i chuckled at a guys T shirt though, dressed in docs, short jeans, braces and a T shirt reading "not racist - just bald"
16. Did anyone else go? a great day, some fab bands including Rancid featuring Matt Freeman on bass. Interesting that most films would have a crowd like this pitched as thugs yet was a really good atmosphere with people looking after each other. Punk's not dead you know?
17. Hiya - been using a Roland Bass Cube 30 for ages. I use it pretty much every day and it mainly stays at home but occasionally gets taken to a band members house for quietish rehearsal. Thinking about buying something new and maybe a bit louder. Must be going deaf in my old age! having had a cursery look, I am thinking maybe the Orange Crush Bass 50, also seen that Ampeg Micro (probably a bit more powerful than I need AND not as portable as I really need) BUT looks sexy. Any suggestions boys and girls? XMas GAS - its criminal ! Andy
18. Feel a bit cheeky but if they're still available, I wouldn't mind having a play? Let me know and I'll pm address. Thx buddy. Andy
19. Try this place. Hand made. Great value. Top guy. http://www.tan-my-hide.co.uk/. Good luck. Andy
20. I use one I got from Dawsons music on line. About £40. Great piece of kit. Does the job plus loads of pockets. Looks like this bit bigger (couldn't face trawling their site in 3G network any more) http://www.dawsons.co.uk/attitude-pro-double-electric-guitar-bag Good luck Andy
21. I reported the same here earlier this year. That time a cheap Jazz. Same blx working, could arrange free courier. Seems the next stage is to try get you to pay via some kind of voucher. Reported to Gumtree etc. Tw@ts
