1. I had the cab and the 450 head. Without doubt the best I ever had. Now on Orange Bass Terror and sp212. Opposite end of size scale and lovely but nowhere near the Ampeg sound and effect. Better on the back though!
2.
Eyup, it was the Thornhill Arms, even funnier as Steve the gaffer was supposed to be a sparky. We had all our gigs taken away at one point because we also played the Golden Lion in Pudsey. This was in Angel Of Sin days, Delirium never went down as well at the Golden Lion. ...and yeah we played the Little 'Un with some interesting locals...
Of course. I remember that. He told me about it. Had some peculiar ideas about having the monopoly on bands in west Leeds. Ha ha. Bryan from AOS still drums with us.
3. Bought a guitar stand from Mike. Really quick delivery. Top item. Good guy. Buy with confidence. Andy
4. Received and very happy. Top packaging and double quick delivery. Cheers Mike. Here's what it looks like in situ ! Andy
5.
Played regularly at a small venue between Leeds and Bradford where the electrickery varied between <200 and 260 volts (we checked it once). As long as all the amps survived (they often didn't without a fuse change) you had a good gig. We then had all our gigs there pulled because we played a venue in the next town 2 miles away...
Where was that Jon? assume Pudsey/Rodley/Farsley? PM if you like - just interested thats all Andy
6.
I played a local gig in a pub called the "The Little un" it was a tiny pub with a meaty reputation. We had done a few gigs in a pub just over the road & decided to accept this one as a last minute thing. The stage was tiny & some of the local inbreeds were more impressed that we had the bottle to actually do a gig there. It was all going really well we had a few people dancing and then "Bam" a bloke who was dancing in front of me got headbutted & I got blood in both my eyes....... After doing the local gigs in the Pontefract, Castleford, Wakefield area it was hard to shock me after that. Years later I did a lets say unlicensed DJ gig at a News years eve party in a disused church close to Leeds university. When I was on the decks I looked over to see two ladies & a young gentleman engaged in a game of hide the sausage.......In full view of well everyone. It was a good night though.
Made me laugh Fumps - played South Emsall too.....not ace. Done the Wakey Ponte Cas circuit too. Some interesting experiences but mostly ace! Some good people out there
7. Cocco - they are pretty weighty, tons of sustain and the Gibson pickups are incredibly loud despite being passive. It is possible to get a pretty wide range of tone using the different pickup selections but I think they give a really nice even volume level on all 4 strings (rather than some basses which I think are loud on E & A but less so on D & G). You should have a dabble. Andy
8.
I've already got a tuner that lives there permanently. If I keep festooning my headstock with all sorts of stuff it's going to start looking like a mod's scooter.
Now thats a thought.....a bunch of chrome mirrors screwed on to the body of your bass (lets you keep an eye on the drummer too!)
9.
I half wouldn't mind something that attaches to the front of a bass where I can put a few picks for easy access. But not enough that I'm going to go and google one and buy it.
You could buy that and screw it on to your headstock. Would look AMAZING!!!
10. Looks great buddy. But then I too am a Gibson fan. Not yet got a T Bird but they're on my list. Would be after a white one when the right one comes up. Enjoy
11. Just picked this up last week. It's a 2012 Gibson Les Paul bass with the larger body. When I got it, it was fitted with amber knobs, cream pickup surrounds, switch surround and tip. I replaced them with black ones which I think makes it look better personally. Gigged it on Saturday and was very happy. Is a bit weighty but sounds HUGE. The Gibson pickups are mentally loud and it has a pretty wide range of tones. Cue loads of rock god poses a la Mick Ronson (well, a short fat grey haired version!) Hope you like it Andy
12. Have now found the 2 item codes - MR 493 Bridge and MR 491 neck. Ebay around the world turns up some "interesting" prices!
13. Cheers Geoff but they're slightly different sized. Curse those Gibson fiends! Cheers. Andy
14. Just bought another LP. A bit obsessed I know but love em. It's a black one but has cream pickup surrounds. Would look better in black in my view so wanna swap em over but can't find anywhere that sells them. Any ideas? Suggestions? Thx. Andy
15. I think it is essential to sing the proper words. The audience often sing along and its obvious if you get them wrong also, is particularly bad if you and your pal sing the same line with different words. It can be taxing to remember all the words to every song but I think it is about quality. All my opinion of course....
16. I am just starting an open mike night at a local boozer. Plan is to leave this one there. Cant go wrong at that price.
17. I dropped him a note to explain. He was really nice and seemed pleased as he genuinely hoped it would be a simple fix. He explained was his 3rd backup and couldn't really be fussed to get it fixed. Result.
18. Just bought an Ashdown Five-Fifteen from a FB seller. Was in good nick but not working. No lights or sound etc. Only wanted £50 and close to me. Would have been worth that as 1 x 15 cab alone. Picked it up. Lovely guy, so had a natter then brought it home. Checked the power socket fuse - blown. Replaced it and it works a treat. Am well happy. The seller admitted it may well have been a blown fuse but wasn't sure. Its is in bl@@dy great nick too. Sorry - just needed to gloat (now off to hide it from my wife) Andy
19.
I'll be there with the thurs headline. Not a fan of Blackpool though.
Do you know my pal Beej then?
20. Check out Zeus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOGF2y1aisk Mad but compelling.....
21.
SVT CL & 8 X 10. IBTL!
Agree
22.
I guess it's my original pressing of Public Image by Public Image Ltd, nothing rare or special about it but to me cool because it was the first record I actually chose to buy rather than something my parents brought for me (Convoy by C W McCall!)
Was gonna say exactly the same. In the newspaper style cover. Love it
