1.
From the Bierkeller website: Doors Open - 7.30pm First Act on stage 8pm You've got Godsticks supporting, I'll be curious to hear how they're getting on with their new drummer.
Thanks for that.
 2.
Seeing them on Friday at Heaven. Timing from the event page at http://www.heaven-live.co.uk/event/the-aristocrats/ 18.00 Doors 19.00 The Fierce & The Dead 20.00 The Aristocrats Early night for Aristocrats fans.
Better check the times with the Bierkeller. Thanks for heads up.
 3.
A highlight could be Govan whipping out his fretless Vigier. Imagine that - fretless bass is hard enough
I've seen this on YouTube. Looking forward to it.
 4.
Saw them in Edinburgh a couple of nights back. A quite joyous mix of virtuosity and nonsensical silliness. Bands like them exist to remind us that playing music is meant to be fun - and I've seldom seen a band so blatantly enjoying themselves on stage. Oink! Jon.
Indeed. Though serious, professionals they don't take themselves too seriously.
 5.
Presumably they need the crates for the Bierkeller?
well spotted. Ergonomic keyboard!
 6. Off to see these guys are the Bierkeller in Bristol Thursday 17th December. 7. I am lucky to have a group of like minded players to get together every now and again to rehearse and gig. But, like this evening, after a tough week and chronic back pain, just 15 mins playing on my "own" to the cat and the g/f and I felt better about myself, my life, and the rest. I feel blessed to have music as part of me. It is like a good friend. It can disappear for a while but return like you'd never been apart.
 8. With reference to the OP and myself, you are all just posting reasons to get into "marital trouble". Lovely stuff, but keep it to yourself, please!
 9. Have flats on 3 of my 6 basses. Wondering about my 6 string.
 10. Heard the term "pop tart" on this site. I'm always chatting up/to band members post gig if the opportunity arises. Including at least a couple of members here. Remember talking to Jim Moray after a gig at the Folk House in Bristol. Much to several hesitant lady fans disappointment who were working up the nerve themselves. Had a great chat with Gail Ann Dorsey at St Bonaventure's partly cos no one knew who she was playing with Jonatha Brookes. Started when I was 17 and chatted to Brian Eno in a Victorian observatory in Northumberland. The list goes on. What's your story?
 11.
Love Snarky Puppy but M.L.'s bassface is just strange, you gotta have great chops to pull that kinda gurning off!
Agreed. Great groove player and band leader. Less convinced for soloing. Tends to rely on an octave peddle.
 12.
Snarky are hugely into promoting music education when on tour, so they'll do clinics and shows for music schools etc in the area where they're gigging. Smart move.
I got the feeling there was a musical appreciation of them, not wishing to do down audiences in Bristol or elsewhere, perhaps your answer is nearer the mark. Was it a Bristol Uni music dept night out?
 13. Just back from watching sell out performance of Snarkies. Since when did bands like this sell out venues? Great for the band, but took me by surprise. A predominantly young audience getting into instrumental jazz influenced funk, applauding flugelhorn and percussion solos. Having a Bristol audience getting into any live performance without a deck is surprising, but cheering muso chops. Wtf. Don't get me wrong. Love my jazz, fusion and funk...but if someone can explain please?
 14. Seen these guys a couple of times, great performers, and turned down lift to Leamington Spa this evening for some reason!!! My loss. Dave is a great guy. Always happy to chat afterwards.
 15. Is it worth considering given there is a lot of his free stuff I have found useful?
 16. Getting back into playing 6 string so pleased to see them appearing for sale. GLWTS.
