  1. Stainless steel fingerboard!? I had to read that 3 times to check. How does that sound and feel?
  2. Never got Elbow, and Guy Garvey just winds me up.
  3. That's the neatest cavity I've ever seen. 😏
  4. As others have said, and in my experience, bass at larger venues is lost in the mush, so I'd say no as there's little point. I mostly see jazz in smaller venues, and even then, a competent keyboard player can fill in. So again, no. My guitar playing is coming along nicely 😉
  5. An emphatic yay. What's not to like?
  6. Great experience selling my bass to Tomajoha, highly recommended.
  7. Bump as this beauty is still available if you are tempted. Make me a (sensible) offer 😊
  8. Great thread. Oh, 40 years ago. Bill MacCormack and Random Hold, produced by Peter Hamill. I played this EP endlessly along with Japan. Saw them I believe with XTC.
  9. Sold a pedal to Mark, and it was a really easy transaction. Many thanks.
  10. Good question. I am red/green colour blind, so I may not be the best judge. Suffice to say, it is really hard to capture the true colour. The photos in the case are too blue. The photos on the walls are too white. The close ups are probably the nearest, for the neck joints or the checking. In the flesh is where it really excels. Try this one.
  11. ***Price Drop*** Now £1450 Up for sale (no trades please) is my 2016 American Vintage '63 Precision in faded sonic blue with rosewood fingerboard. In immaculate condition, only played indoors, never gigged or rehearsed. There's some minor checking on the heal and upper horn, but in a very fetching and tasteful way (flash coat acquer). Been after one of these for ever, but despite many attempts, it just hasn't grabbed me. I have enough Precisions, got a new kitchen on the way, and I'd like someone else to give it the love it deserves. Of course, these are discontinued, and they are extremely well made recreations of the 1963 era P bass. Many details elsewhere on line, but key specs from my perspective: alder body flash coat lacquer (minor checking which I've tried to show) maple C shaped neck (some nice figuring on the neck) round-laminated rosewood fingerboard, 7.25" radius 1.74" nut width bone nut American Vintage '63 Precision Bass Split Single-Coil 20 vintage style frets (well dressed, 20th fret has some slap wear from the shop not from me) Vintage reverse tuners 3-ply mint green pickguard chrome pickup and bridge covers, lower finger rest, clay-coloured dot inlays, auxiliary strap button on headstock American Vintage Bass bridge with Threaded Steel "Barrel" Saddles Vintage blonde case with red interior Case candy (Fender flats on the bass, the rounds got used) 4.03kg/8.9llbs on my fish scales Happy to ship at buyers expense in Great Britain. Very difficult to capture the subtlety of the faded sonic blue on camera.
  12. Were these always Pau Ferro fingerboards? I've a 2008 model which I thought was rosewood.
  13. I haven't played as much bass because I've been improving on the guitar, with regular practise and on-line tuition. This has helped with cementing theory and improving my ear. I did 3 outdoor socially distanced gigs on bass, and they went well enough. Just started back on bass to determine if any of them should go, and the guitar playing has opened up the instrument, although I am experiencing quite a bit of muscle ache. I'm sorry to hear others are struggling to play. It's been a massive solace for me during these hard times. I would say, home practice is no substitute for what I get out of rehearsals, musically, psychologically and emotionally, and can't wait to get back to it.
  14. This can’t still be available!? Have a bump in case it is. I’ve already got 2 so I couldn’t possibly.
  15. My Comodous 6 is the best made, best sounding, most robust and reliable bass I have ever owned. Really fancy a fretless version.

  19. Lovely. I have it's twin, acquired here back in 2007. Though the pop of the grain is nicer in yours. I must get mine out of the case to show it some love.
  20. First became aware of Mr Murray with Colosseum II and National Health. Always amazed he joined Whitesnake. Shows his versatility.
