1. I may sound like a broken record even though I have the kilos to prove I'm not, but I keep stressing that taking care of the voice is the most important thing, closely followed by a motivating steep-as-possible learning curve. It's experienced teachers that will give you this. How is a YT-film going to listen to what he does and correct it right there and then? How is an instructional video going to work out a reasoned and professional plan for the specifics of his actual use of his voice? See the teacher! best, bert
2. Yes. That is: if I ever get a gig again. Had a gig in '02 or so, and have played bass after that, so there's still hope. best, bert
3.
Someone I occasionally play with as a dep was marvelling at 'all those effects pedals' I was using. What he was looking at was a tuner, a DI box and the receiver for my wireless unit. Not a single 'effect' in any of them!
Bloody fantastic! Must get me some of those. best, bert
4. As to Schoenberg, he broke his own rules and would exchange a theoretical note with one that sounded more musical to his ears. As far as I know, he never admitted this. Same goes for Xenakis, BTW, and he never admitted on doing so. best, bert
5. John, you're not worth them. Be a christian. Send them to Southern Norway this very minute. Please. Congrats, man! best, bert
6. Aww man, I feel guilty enough as it is without you rubbin' it in! People publish so much on so many places, and even trying to read something here inbetween customers is a hard task. .... OK, I'll try right now. No promises. best, bert
7. Hey Rod, Dunno. I think we kinda felt interesting knowing we were stalked. But g'day to you too. I liked "seriously(ish)" very much. As long as one enjoys it, it's OK, right? Now, be welcome and please enjoy! best, bert
8. Hi Teegee, Welcome! I suppose you want to understand what's he's on about, yes? I think you came to the right place. Enjoy! Ask anything you need to ask if a little search doesn't help. best, bert
9. Info? Me? You must be the most sarcastic bass tard on BC, Leen! Anyway, welcome to BC, Steve. From reading your intro it's apparent to me that you'll have a great time on here even though I disturb the peace here way too often. Nice to read that you play bass, btw, and as Leen says: it's very good for the environment too! Enjoy! best, bert
10. Nice one indeed. Congrats and enjoy. best, bert
11. I wanna marry you too, just like Bluejay and SpaceChick!
12. Sorry I forgot to tidy the room before they recorded this at my house. Seriously though, this is GAS inducing. Thanks for posting. best, bert
13.
There is no excuse for owning a headless bass
Stephen, you know I love you like a brother, but this ... ! The cricket bat is one of the coolest bass designs in the history of mankind. Fact. Regular bodies with headless necks are another story, but I'm not gonna empty my stomach just to describe them. best, bert
14. Essential: overdrive, fuzz, chorus. Then: compressor, octaver Then: a distortion if needed, and maybe a phaser or flanger, but I personally have used them for way too long, and am bored with them Then: a power supply for this! YMMV etc. etc. best, bert
15. I've used these for decades, and love them even more than I love my ex. There's another version that I like better, with two long arms with crocodile pinchers, so you can keep two objects very close to each other. best, bert
16. OK, but how do I turn on the function to ignore the sigs with all those nice Yammie BB's that I wish I had?
17. That's not funny at all! Also, we should have the death penalty back, if only for those baby oil producers! [/rant] best. bert
18. Hey Gorbyrev, Welcome to BC! That was a nice story. Sometimes we just get lucky. Now teach us some, learn some, and take part in the banter. best, bert
19.
Ha ha ....good one bert!
Bowing gratefully, but: You forgot to welcome Jair-Rohm, you... you ... best, bert
20. Hey Meenie, I have NO idea. Full stop. But welcome to BC! Don't be a stranger, eh? best, bert
21. Hi Jay, Welcome to BC! I can imagine you liked what you saw here. I like it too. Congrats on the Jazz! I'm a believer in them. Now be a good boy and do some posting here. best, bert
22.
I have spent the day in London with my other half Still managed a visit to Wunjo bass lol
Pix of the other half and all the basses you bought, please. Trust doesn't come for free, ya know. best, bert
23. As a bass player: As a bassist though: (ordered 3 basses, 2 amps, 2 effects, 1 board power supply, 2 cases. Will suffer for this. Will enjoy the stuff.) best, bert
24. You made me realise that I've seen myself as a bass player from day one: when I decided that the bass was to be my new main instrument. Never thought about it. It was just like that. Probably has a lot to do with the fact I left organs, pianos and synths that day. Fun thing is, I could find myself not playing synths for years, and not care at all (though I was always thinking about music). Now, with the bass, a day is lost when I haven't played it. best, bert
