1. Hi Dean, Welcome to BC! best, bert
 2.
They used to have doors?
Not really, but I have seen a few with them, both on old and new instruments. Not sure if they were meant to be a joke or practical.
I'm not sure how the tray/carving knife combo would work
Sorry. Was trying to joke again. Obviously failed. Again.
The sound engineer wasn't impressed - even after my jokes about 'wanting a bit more kazoo in the monitor'.
Yeah, people tend to be like that. Good job there's bassists on the planet as well. best, bert
 3. ¡Ola! (or something similar) Welcome to BC, Castagné. Hope you'll like the atmosphere, and decide to be a groovy (b)asset to the forum. best, bert
 4. Send in a tray and a carving knife. You'll never get it out in one piece, and at any rate the bread crumbles tend to fall out anyway. Whatever happened to those small doors in the backs of double basses? Sigh. best, bert
 5.
Well thank you Bert. Errrrr YMMV means what exactly (sorry I'm old)?
Your MILF May Vanish (actually: Your Mileage May Vary) Not as old as I am, IMS (which stands for As Far As I Recall) best, bert
 6.

Nice 'n' all, but how does it do on my fretless? I mean, one can always look for a better singer, but buying a better fretless doesn't help! Desperately, bert
 7. Hi Trev, Here's some more love then, now from a distance. Welcome to BC! I vote against the meet unless you guys get your asses to Southern Norway. Tough, I know, but it's just tough love. Beware though: the Duvel will set you back 8 to 10 guineas here. Enjoy the site! best, bert
 8.
I see what you did there
9.
Any ideas?
Of course! I exchanged the lightbulb in the VU meter on my Ashdown with an LED. Fixed! best, bert
 10. Glenn, you'll be happy to learn that Norway's biggest record shop have "Let Us Pray" (sic!) available. http://www.platekompaniet.no/Musikk.aspx/CD/Electric_Wizard/Let_Us_Pray/?id=RISECD74 best, bert
 11.
Also even though it's a silly name
Well, I'd rather have a complete Badbitch than just a mere Badass. YMMV of course. best, bert
 12. Hi Matt, Welcome to BC. There's quite some converts here. You might get lucky and become one as well! Enjoy! best, bert
) Groetjes, Bert
 14. Hey Glenn, Welcome to BC. I hope you'll continue to enjoy its usefulness and helpfulness, and maybe you can share some wisdom too. best, bert
 15.
@Bert... Please take the tablets; they're for your own good. You shouldn't go about waving that, either. You'll catch cold. Now get back into bed and wait for the nurse's visit. Yes, we'll take you for a walk around the park later, if you'll keep your pyjamas on this time...
You have no idea whatsoever. I did take them, and wrote what I wrote after the prescribed four hours of rest (incidentally on a bench in the ward garden - twas sunny that day) ... best, bert
 16.
Ah.. So he has 2 right hand and a lefty.. I think ill buy all 3.
Brilliant. As it happens, I know his Norwegian account number. You have a PM.
 17.
You mark my words. It will all end in a big argument where everyone will fall out with everyone else and no one will talk to each other for months all because someone took a comment the wrong way.
I knew it. Some misantrope will always come and distroy all the fun. I'm not talking to you anymore! (well, I am saving someone else the trouble of writing the obvious, right?) bassbest, bassbert
 18. Hi Rob, Welcome to BC! You'll do alright posting right away. People will stand in line to provide you with info. There's also a good search function for stuff you presume must have been answered zillions of times already. Don't be shy though. As a keyboardist of more than 45 years, I know what you mean about seeing the light when descending to the dark side of bass. Enjoy the site and its banter. best, bert
 19.
Bert, you're not a journalist by any chance? Some 'creative' editing there! [...] I'm thinking I might start a thread in Effects along the lines of 'Which stomp boxes are the most fun with toddlers?'
Haha! Not a journalist, no. My professional live is divided between walking the dog and writing nonsense here. The creativeness was limited to reading your text wrongly, and wanting to share how I originally read it. As to toddlers, IME they like anything that makes weird but not scary sounds immediately after they do something. Big Muff Pi through wide open pots into 810? Don't think so. But the rhythm box in an electronic organ? Beauty, when blended with whatever they press of different knobs and keys. Which reminds me: I've got a lovely Technics U90 organ for sale. 12K quid and it's yours. Local pick up only! best, bert
 20.
I mean, it's piss easy. It's got 1/3 less strings than a guitar, so must be 1/3 less difficult, eh?
Sorry. Have to be blunt here, AndyBob. You're sadly mistaken. For each extra string it gets twice as difficult. Proven scientific fact. So bass is 75% less difficult. Yup: piss easy. (Remembah: "Math is your friend.") best, bert
 21.
I'm a competent but pretty bass player.
There really is no rule about that. I'm ugly as hell and even so really stink at playing bass. Hi Jason, Thanks for the nice read. Remember that theory is nothing more than a reflection of shared experience. Normally, your ears will do the job as long as you're normally musical AND are willing to listen carefully to what your ears tell you, and respond to it by not accepting anything that sounds wrong to you. But yes, finding an alternative to what feels wrong can be a pain in the derrière. best, bert
 22.
Give it a try, you might win a book!!
Ah, OK then, but it won't be funny. It was a failed attempt to say the value will plummet to the degree that it goes underground. The machines used to dig huge holes in the planet are not called 'rockets', but are often called 'moles', Dunno the technical term. best, bert
 23.
I can' be the only one who didn't understand a word of this
My take: only people with a perfect understanding of English can't understand a word of it. So it surely isn't my responsibility. I think I better not even try to explain. I'll just dig an even bigger hole for myself. best, bert
 24.
This thread is useless without sound!
Don't be lazy! This thread correctly assumes that at least some pro-activeness on the part of readers can be expected. Buy that bass. Buy those strings. Play. best, bert
 25.
I can sign them... value will rocket
Fine, but technically those machines are not called "rockets" but "moles". Before anyone asks, they're very inefficient in rock. best, bert
