An odd weekend for Yellowhouse. Friday night at a big sports bar/pub in Chelmsford and upon arrival the manager said that he wasn't expecting much of a turnout after 2 busy bank holidays, everyone is skint. First set started and as expected there were just a few hardy dancers upfront. At half time we were trying to muster up some enthusiasm amongst ourselves with one eye on the money. Second set - batshit crazy, loads of people suddenly appeared and it was a different world. Supposed to finish at midnight but played until 12.45 and fished a few crowd pleasers out of the first set as noone had seen them earlier. Saturday was at another large pub in Staines. We thought it may be a bit quiet but it was totally the opposite. Thought I would give the Orange amp a run out this weekend instead of my usual Mesa. Venue was a bit tight width wise so it was stuffed in a corner. I'm still really pleased with it as a lighter weight big iron amp 😁

Nice style there using your wife's nimble fingers to poke about in the live bit! Us bass players are pretty indispensable so any personal risk should definitely be avoided

How about just taking it into a shop and trying another PBass next to it? You'll know in 5 minutes if it's just the inherent sound of YOUR bass that's an issue or whether a Precision generally is just not giving the sound you would expect from it. Then you can decide to either keep working at it or just flip it and buy something that gives you your sound out of the box

Who serviced it?

I have the single bass version of that Gator ProGo. Totally recommended. It's a great case with loads of storage and feels bulletproof. You may find it a bit weighty with 2 basses onboard though.

Don't think its a BT3 - that's reverse winding. I put a BT7 on my old Sire V7 i think.... I seem to remember having to drill a few holes though

Get the Funk Out by Extreme. We do it in my covers band and it took me ages to get fluid with it. I kept getting particulalry tangled up on the breakdown that pops up a few times in the song and had to get the guitarist to patiently walk me through it on multiple occasions. I'm pretty sure the songs whole bass line was written by a guitarist rather than a bass player! I love playing it partly because I know how much time I put into it. Other ones that make me smile inwardly are some Durannie ones like Rio and Save a Prayer, Stuart Zenders Too Young to Die and Everyday (lovely use of space in that one) and anything off Simple Minds New Gold Dream album. I also enjoy some grungy stuff such as STP's Plush or Alice in Chains Damn that River/Man in the Box

Yet another fabulous transaction with Simon. A truly Carlsberg level of Basschatter. And if anyone is wondering why there is a world shortage of bubblewrap it's because most of it is now in my front room 🙂

I don't think you can...... To use both cabs you either need twin outputs from the amp or alternatively cabs with 2 sockets on the back so you can daisy chain them all. You can't use a splitter though And you'll only be pulling about 125/130 watts out of the amp as it is now which probably isn't loud enough for a band scenario

The battery only lasts for an hour? That won't work for most people will it? I can get over 6 hours out of 2 rechargeable AA batteries in my Sony unit.

Nik just grabbed a bass from me. We spent a pleasant bit of time playing with the toys and having a gas as well. Totally upstanding dude and always a pleasure to chat/trade with. Highly recommended ☺️

My Zon Sonus Standard Import is the only one I can't see being sold. Mainly because I could never replace it as they are so rare. I saw a couple on the wall at a now defunct bass specialist store around 2011 (Bass Gear in Twyford - I think @molanmay have had something to do with the place?), played one, loved it but couldn't afford the £1000+ price tag on it. Moved on and forgot about it. And then walked into my local guitar store a few years ago to buy some picks and saw one hanging on the bass wall (amongst the usual stock of a couple of Fenders and Ibanez basses). It was used, mint condition and very keenly priced as they didn't know too much about them. I couldn't believe it. 30 seconds later it was coming home with me..... I've never seen another one in the wild since that first sight back in 2011.
