1. Really? Well, there you go... that lady has taste!
2. Ouch. Very wrong. Wrong bridge, wrong pickup position, wrong controls, wrong neck plate, body's probably a faker too... maybe the neck might be original. Should I be a frothing pedant and message the seller?? I suspect he wouldn't give a stuff...
3.
I am lucky. I bought my sei 4th hand and it feels as if it was made for me.
Glad you're enjoying it, Michael!
4. Saturday morning bump...
5.
That is a nice bass for the money bump
Thank you very much bump!
6. Dear god, if I had that rig sitting in my house, I'd be having to have the windows refitted every 2 weeks. Lovely. Good luck with the sale!
7.
Heres some propaganda from the PJB site and some pics
Fantastic! Thank you for reminding us that manufacturers blurb IS all just sales speak. A lovely rig, though...
8.
Manufacturers really don't like to give the weight ... sigh. Did you ever buy those fishing scales? If so, g'wan - what does it clock in at? ps: I rather wish I'd bought your Wal.
Thanks for the tip - I did buy the scales! It weighs in at 9.5 lbs, about 4.25 kg in new money, I believe. I would have kept the Wal if I could have justified it it, but the big pile of cash came in handy too...
9. A reverential bump...
10. A beauty, Tim... if only your gig at New Year hadn't gone west, perhaps we could have done a deal! Fancy one of these, perchance? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/165896-for-sale-reverend-mercalli-5-fm
11. Thank you kindly, gents... if I didn't have the anatomy of a mutant chimp, I'd be keeping it too...
12. Late afternoon aimlessly surfing t'interweb bump
13. For sale is a brand-spanking-new Reverend Mercalli 5-FM (violin Flame Maple top). I bought it on a whim, because I loved the look of the thing, and I still do, but playing 35" scale basses for years has left me feeling a little cramped on a 34". Some things just work, and this bass and my 6'2" frame just don't fit, as lovely as it is (the bass, that is) Reverend have really got their act together - it's very well built and beautifully finished, sounds big and fat, and was ready to play with a nice low action straight out of the box. More specs can be found at http://www.reverendg...mercalli_5.html I've only had it two weeks, and it's never even left the house. The plastic film is still on the scratchplate, and it will be shipped in it's original packing cartons, so it's literally as new. Someone is going to get a bargain due to my impulsiveness, as I'm only asking [s]£600[/s] £550 shipped in the UK - an extraordinary amount of bass for the money. The only trade I would consider would be a Lakland DJ5... SOLD pending the usual....
14. Thanks Lawrie! (From an exiled Scot in Surrey)
15. Up for sale is my Aguilar DB750, bought here on BC last year. A phenomenal amp, with seemingly limitless, effortless power, full, warm sound with generous EQ and a 'breadth' of tone I've not experienced before. All preamp valves replaced just a few months ago, gigged by me only half a dozen times, good condition, with Protec Aguilar branded rack bag. It's a fairly heavy amp, which is why we're parting company, and in deference to my arthritic joints I'm reverting to something lighter, but I will miss the extraordinary warmth and sheer raw power it's capable of. Pickup is preferred, but if you really can't collect it, the cost within the UK would be £35 uninsured and £75 insured. I'm just off junction 10 of the M25. The price is £[s]950[/s] now reduced to £900. I would consider a trade for a Lakland DJ5... NOW SOLD PENDING THE USUAL....
16. I bought an SKC Bogart 5-string from Rhys, and it was a pleasure to do business with him. Great communication, thoroughly honest and trustworthy throughout. Can't recommend him highly enough. Thanks Rhys!
17.
I saw Diamond Head live and still have their white lp somewhere. Was that Robbie (the album has no credits....its white )
No, that was the first line-up, Robbie was with them from the 'Canterbury' album (1983) along with original members Sean Harris (vocals) and Brian Tatler (guitar), and new members Josh Phillips (keyboards) and Merv Goldsworthy (bass). Good album, too - very different from the white album and 'Am I Evil' - produced by Mike Shipley, engineered by Bob Clearmountain, IIRC.
18.
Sad news. Alphavillie.....as in big in japan?
Yup. He wasn't in the band at the time of the hit, just for a couple of years in the mid-90's, but they were still big somwhere!
19. Just heard the dreadful news that Aussie drummer extraordinaire Robbie France died very suddenly yesterday in Spain, where he resided for many years, presenting a daily radio show. His credits include Diamond Head, UFO, Skunk Anansie, Alphaville, Wishbone Ash, Ellis, Beggs & Howard, and many others. He was one of the finest drummers I've had the good fortune to work with, and a great guy with a huge personality to boot. A sad day.
20. Still here, but heading for eBay later today if no one is interested...
