1.
Thank you mate. I'm going to let this bass available only for a few days, so it's now or never (my love won't wait)
...better known in this country as "Just one Cornetto"... I have an old 1980 Ibanez Roadster that was a forerunner of this design - not as pretty as the Musician, tho! Best of luck with the sale.
 2.
beast of a cab!
It certainly is, like a scaled-down 8x10, but with more snarl...
 3. Removed from a project bass I bought recently, and replaced with an ABM, so surplus to requirements. Not pristine, but in very good condition. Specs can be found at http://gitarrenwisse...40812951dXY4e5d under the 'Varianten' tab. [s]£50[/s] £40 posted within the UK. NOW SOLD, PENDING THE USUAL....
 4.
With due respect...difference of opinion. To me this information being public isn't an issue. If I sold one of my Wals, I'd be happy to share. To me it's like the sale of real estate or any item of value...a current sale sets a comparable. Good to what's happening in the market. Even if this information is made public, each transaction will still result in whatever the parites involved can negotiate. Even asking prices tend to set what's going-on in the market for like items...why not have the market set by the "sold" prices, which are reality, instead of the "asking" prices which can or can't be a "real" gauge of value.
It was a long, drawn-out negotiation, but in the end we settled on a straight swap for £14.11 and a picture of the Queen. They're all the rage in Tehran, y'know...
 5. Aah, takes me back to seeing UFO live in 1977.... Pete Way even commented recently that he thought the Epiphone Thunderbirds sound fatter than the original Gibsons! Good luck with the sale.
 6. The bass has now been sold, pending the usual. Many thanks for all the interest that's been shown.
 7. What a fantastic bass! I had a Fender Custom Shop '60, but couldn't get on with it. How does Wes's creation stack up against the CS basses?
 8.
I need this bass even more now I have it being played the bass sounds fantastic !! Awesome bass playing by the way
Thank you, sir! You are most kind...
 9.
Ahhhh finally, the bass in the flesh so to speak.... So, whats it being played through?
Straight into my Mac's mic input with a quarter inch to mini jack adapter. I was amazed myself!
 10.
News to me also. I think the other poster means that Pete stopped working hands on so to speak.
Yes - that's exactly what I did mean - he's retired, not passed on!
 11.
Im not sure that it ends a piece of history, as Wal basses are as good now as they were before, inherriting the same tradition, history, and same craftsmanship. Pete's legacy dare i say it (legacy) and that of Ian Waller himself, still live on through the more than capable hands of Paul Herman, who lets face it, has been in the Wal camp for a lot more years than many people realise..... There are many facets to the Wal manufacturing process, and every bass passes the Wal quality control process, so if Pete, Paul, or others sign it off, it still carries the prestige, from the Waller, Pete, Paul and more importantly, Wal camp.....
I agree - Paul's work is every bit as good as anything that came out of the Wal workshops in the past, and he was there in person for many years, as you rightly say. You can still order a bass with the same or very similar specs as mine, but this one does mark the end of an era in Wal production with Pete's passing, which is why I suggested it might be considered 'special'. Whether it is or not is entirely the up to you, of course - as the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
 12. I had an MC924 walnut fretless in 1980, and it was heavy, but the build quality and finish was phenomenal. At the time they were being endorsed by Sting, Coiln Moulding of XTC and a few others. I suppose a grand for this example might seem a little expensive, but what would you pay for a bass of similar quality today? And it is very pretty...
 13. Thanks for pointing that out - I rang them, and was told they changed their policy on enhanced compensation of musical instruments almost 2 years ago, but I was still sold it when I sent the bass from Parcelforce's Aldershot depot 10 days ago. They've said they will reimburse the cost of the cover. So who are we left with that will provide proper insured shipping? UPS? Any others?
 14.
Although I find it a beautiful bass, it’s far to personal to make it feel like your own.
I can understand that point of view, as I wondered about that when I bought it myself. It's not only a thing of great beauty, it's also a wonderful working instrument, a tool of the trade, as well as a desirable collector's piece, and a little bit of Wal history. It's mine for now, but someone else will use it, get to know it, and enjoy it as their own as I have. And I will miss it!
