1. This may be met with howls of derision, as I know they have a poor reputation with some, but I've used Parcelforce within the UK often, to France and Germany several times, and they've always been excellent. They will insure up to whatever you need, the only requirement is that it has to be completely packaged over the case itself, and it's getting more expensive. I recently sent a Sei Jazz 5 insured for £1200 to Germany, and it cost £96 on a trackable 3 day service. It arrived in 2.
2.
From the title I thought you might be selling one of Mick Karn's fretlesses..
Now that would have been something... I work for someone who knew him very well, but enquiring what was happening to his basses would be a difficult question to ask! I also have a Lakland/Prose I know you were interested in that's coming out of the workshop tomorrow after an extensive makeover - I'm afraid it's unlikely to be for sale, but I'll be posting some pics in a few days.
3. Just to say I sold a Sei bass to Michael, and he was a pleasure to do business with - great communication, prompt payment and a great guy to deal with. Thoroughly recommended!
4. For sale is my Aguilar GS412 - a portable but fearsomely powerful beast, rated at 4 ohms, and a stomach-churning 1200W. Excellent condition, only gigged a handful of times, complete with Roqsolid padded cover. I'm using smaller separates these days, and the missus is complaining it's taking up valuable shoe space (again)! The list price is £1299, and even the fantastically-priced Bass Merchant (RIP) only did them for £989. You can have this one for a paltry £650! Collection only, for obvious reasons... Photos now available at - http://s1141.photobu...wwregisterhead/ NOW SOLD. Happy Xmas everyone...
5. THE BASS HAS NOW BEEN SOLD. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR INTEREST. After much deliberation, I'm offering for sale an exceptionally rare and special Wal - it's the last one Wal co-founder Pete Stevens made before he hung up his tools, marking the end of an era for these fantastic instruments. It was made for fellow Basschatter Walbassist, and I've enjoyed it for the last two years, but owing to an upcoming investment opportunity, I feel I have to put it up for sale. It's a MkIII 5-string, with a few special features. The following is taken from Gareth's original listing, used with his permission: "This is a very special bass to me for a number of reasons, but probably the most important one for everyone else is that it is the last bass Pete Stephens made before he retired, so it truly does represent the end of the original Wal line. So, what else makes this bass so special? Well, it has a few unique features:

it’s the only Wal with spalted maple facings, supplied to Pete by me from a ski-ing holiday in Vermont
American walnut core (usually mahogany)
the custom neck pickup placement makes the bass a tad punchier and, to me, more ergonomic when playing fingerstyle (one other Wal has this pickup arrangement as well, which was also made for me)
bound veneer around the pickups
double pinstripe laminate (usually only one) between the core and facings
Pete’s personal “fish” logo on the back of the headstock
Weighing it at 10.5lb (4.75kilos), the bass balances well with no neck dive at all. It delivers all the classic Wal tones (and I’ve owned enough of them over the years to know!); big fat punchy bass but with plenty of control and presence. You can go from almost subharmonic to crystal-clear highs in the turn of a knob. If you like the Wal sound, then this bass is for you." The only changes made since I bought it is the addition of a clear circular perspex 'slap plate', which was made and installed by Paul Herman, the new owner of the Wal brand. It is held in place by the truss rod adjustment 'boat' at the base of the neck, and can easily be removed. The bass has been gigged very little, and is in excellent condition. Although every Wal is an individual instrument, this one is definitely extra special. It plays beautifully, currently setup with a low, fast action, fitted with D'Addario EXL170-5 nickel strings, and sounds phenomenal. It's also the best balancing and most comfortable bass I've ever owned, bar none. The price is a firm £3500, including Wal-branded hard case. Sorry, but I wouldn't be interested in any trades, or offers. Please PM me if you would like more info. Dave
6. Bass now sold, pending the usual. Thanks for all your interest.
7. Another clip with a bit more B string as requested... :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhILi9o8rMI
8. Video clip of me noodling aimlessly on the above bass is now up on YouTube - recorded straight into my mac's audio input, flat eq. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lhvw1DmOBk
9. Still for sale, I'll try and post a YouTube clip over the weekend.
10. Just 'serviced' by its creator, Martin Petersen at The Gallery two weeks ago - fret stone, set-up, and general check over. Aguilar OPB-3 preamp, Kent Armstrong 64T (?) pickups, 34" scale. 'Slap plate' secured under fingerboard, easily removable. Controls are: neck pickup volume (with active/passive push/pull), bridge pickup volume, mid cut/boost with stacked passive tone control, bass cut/boost with stacked treble cut/boost. A fabulous bass in genuinely excellent condition, but I have to 'thin out the herd' a little. £1100 with TKL moulded case. Sorry, no trades. Collection preferred (near junction 10 of the M25), but will ship insured for £40. NOW SOLD, PENDING THE USUAL.
11. 4 ohm or 8 ohm? And I can't see the piccies either...
12. Hmmm, seems so. So how many hours would it take 10 mice to dispose of a standard Fender Precision?? (USA, that is)... :-)
13. Having a bit of a clear out - up for sale is the lined pau ferro fretless neck from my '94 Stingray 5, complete with tuners, which I replaced with an unlined neck a few years ago, and packed the original away in bubble wrap and put in a sturdy box in the loft. When we moved house recently I re-discovered it, and was horrified to see the box had been invaded by a mouse at some stage who had chewed the underside of the heel, shown in the pictures. Luckily it's not visible when the neck's fitted, and has no effect on it's playability. Also shown in the pics is a small scratch on the back of the neck up by the heel, and a tiny bit of string marking on the fingerboard. I bought the bass the neck came from in the late 90's from Paul Turner, of Jamiroquai etc. He told me it was used on a Take That album, but that doesn't lower the price any, I'm afraid... ... the unwanted mouse carpentry could be said to be a factor in the price however, so I'm only looking for £295 posted within the UK. NOW SOLD.
