  1. Now if you could turn the drummer down too...
  2. Maybe Ged will drop it off himself... he has time on his hands 😄
  3. In that case, I might!
  4. I have a preference for Precisions - and while I have never considered parting with my 71 I have owned several ‘imitations’. I’ve been happy with Lakland, Bass Centre Bruce Thomas and Squier Classic Vibe, all of which are worth less - some considerably less - than a ‘real’ Fender. The standard of budget bass these days is very high indeed, and certainly all those named measure up to MiM Fenders - in fact better.
  5. The winner cakes it all?😞
  6. It’s an effect, you know...😂
  7. I had this. But I actually found I liked both songs...
  8. I suppose this is the only Feelgood style band that can’t employ a wilko clone... I published the first book on the Feelgoods, with the band’s cooperation, back in the day. I learned that every member earns from the band, past or present, and that the band owns/ed half of Canvey Island’s property. So a functioning Feelgood serves more than just the current members.
  9. Midge? Ure joking!😈
  10. Absolutely agree with the above. Amused to see a pal of mine Glenn Quinn on guitar. I know him from his work with Son of Man... had no idea he did this too!
  11. While respecting your evaluation of their musical worth, I don’t think we can deny them the right to continue given that the ‘other 3’ were longest-serving members. They’re in a cleft stick, really - too imitative and they’ll get slagged, too different and they’ll... well, you see what I mean?
  12. Let’s be honest there aren’t likely to be too many crap tributes about, for obvious reasons. As a musician I can imagine it might get boring after a while unless you were really into the act. The fun for me would be in the learning. In that spirit, I did once see a Fleetwood Mac trib advertised that moonlighted as Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers!
  13. Do you think Theresa and Brian could be in any way related ?😞
  14. I thought it was trite, Nancy, but you can’t please everyone I guess. Bass players or the general public... What naffs me off more is that the recent Queen film playing fast and loose with history will become accepted fact, like Wikipedia.
  15. Lenny Kaye (patti smith group) doing guitar.
  16. Explanation to non-UK TV viewers: the title refers to an old show called 'Stars In Their Eyes' when members of the public impersonated singing celebs. In a recent conversation with my dear pal @bumnote he revealed he's once auditioned to replace Joe Jackson bassist Graham Maby (whom we both idolise) in a Portsmouth band - possibly the one left to join JJ. Sadly, he failed. I once auditioned, equally unsuccessfully, to replace Tom Robinson in his less successful follow-up to the TRB, Sector 27. I was a guitarist at the time. Anyone else tried to step into the shoes of the famous?

  18. For Blue's benefit he means a cigarette!😈
  19. You don’t look your age, Mike...you look mine! 😈
  20. Break a leg, Mike...
  21. I come from Merseyside and George Harrison used to deliver my parents’ meat order from the local butcher on a bike with a basket! Having got that out of the way, I think the Fabs had two audiences, the singles and the album buyers. My first album was an LP called ‘A Collection of Beatles Oldies’ with 1963-66 singles on. As a pre-teen, that was good enough for me. i still think the White Album is overrated, but then so much these days is viewed through a nostalgia filter. Where were Abba’s fans in the 70s?
