  1. I have just booked a night in a small cottage, on air bnb for the Saturday night.....busy month of music and travel for me ...the following week I am going ( again) to the Wotton-under Edge Blues festival.😎
  2. No I live in Ilkeston , Derbyshire. Hence the travelling the country to see The Achievers.... any excuse to get out of town.😂
  3. Oh I'll be there....I'm the official stalker of the Achievers.
  4. Hey that's fine ...but don't go down to Georgia ….The Devil will get ya! 😉
  5. By the way chaps and chapesses ...go and see The Achievers... If you don't I will come around and put a Bat up your night shirt...you have been warned!
  6. Don't worry Blue ...nobody notices the bass player any way 😉
  7. You know that I will be there right? Just don't tell the boys about me buying Dollar albums back in the day ...PLEASE! @Teebs and @Ricky 4000 will have me bumped off by the silent assassin @skankdelvar if you do.
  8. I don't really care what Mr Gillespie has to say, he's entitled to his opinion of course, I just listen to any genre of music that I like. My problem is, I am not a real man...………...I do not own a drill!
  9. Don't worry Ricky some of us find you mildly amusing...………... occasionally😜
  10. Snap. born in 57 lived in Nottingham and we all used those exact same labels for the same bands. I have never really cared what the music was labelled as, I either liked it or I didn't.🙂
  11. When I lived in Tenerife we had an afternoon party around the apartment blocks pool. We were "asked " to stop playing by half a dozen Guardia Civil with automatic weapons pointed at us and the threat of having our equipment confiscated if we made any more noise😨
  12. This is a bit of a long winded way around the problem but..... I am going to the Mearfest NWOBHM weekend in Slough on 1st June to see one of my old bands ( SYZ) play a spot. I have already arranged to meet @Brook_fan at Reading Railway station at midday on Saturday 1st to pick up a bass I loaned him last year when he was in need of some support. I could drive down to Northampton at some point before hand to pick up your bass and as long as you can get to Reading station at midday on the Saturday You can pick it up there. I won't be able to stop and chat too long as the festival starts at 1.30 and I would need to get to Slough to check in at my hotel before going there. Robbie will be coming up from Hampshire and may have the time to share the delights of reading with you though? You could all come to the festival to see some sad old rock bands if you wish?😜 Just an Idea 😊 Ray
  13. Can I just pop my head in here and vote for Mr Hughes' band Trapeze? I only saw them in 1975 when (I think) they were a trio and I bought the album of the same name. Apparently their first album was called Trapeze also but I bought the later version. I remember being mightily impressed with his vocals and bass playing. For some reason I never explored their back catalogue ( I was still in the grips of my Budgie obsession then ,is my only excuse!). As you were....back to Purple.😊
  14. It's next on ,on Saturday 11th May at 23.50 pm. I have just set my Tivo box to record it.
  15. Excellent news ...I was struggling to find the time to read the pdf you kindly sent me. Now I have ordered a copy you get to splash out spending the massive royalties on a debauched life style, and I get to read it without lugging my laptop around. A win/win I believe!
  16. Hello and welcome. I imagine that set up sounds pretty damn good! Enjoy the forum, we are, mostly😉, a friendly bunch on here.
  17. Well he seems a nice chap. Now Back to the cats.....
  18. Count me in! I found Budgie by accident.. I had tickets to see Stan Webbs' Chicken Shack at the Boat club in Nottingham in either1972 or1973 and they didn't turn up. We were all given free tickets for the next gig which was Budgie. It was the "Never turn your back on a friend" tour I assume because they played Breadfan. I ended up buying all their Albums up until the late Eighties when I couldn't afford to keep buying albums any more ( Kids hey....who'd 'ave 'em ?😜) I learned bass by trying to copy his bass lines. I still love listening to their music and I still love Burke's bass lines.
  19. Budgie , my favourite band...I'm old😜 Breadfan is probably their most famous song.
  20. The Achievers at the York Blues festival on Saturday (6th April). featuring our own @Jack_Stroud_Bass on ….you guessed it...Bass Guitar! Last gig I went to..... The Achievers at the SVA in Stroud … I live in Ilkeston Derbyshire; I guess you could say I have become a bit of a fan.
  21. I hope the gig went well. Unfortunately my Fibromyalgia did for me again and I was too knackered to make the gig...maybe next time😥
  22. But leaving feedback hasn't helped. His emails are being ignored...he asks for help from any BC'er in the area that The bass Doctor operates in, in resolving the situation...Is that bad or am I missing something here? As I said , I know neither party and have no particular axe to grind, but I am interested in the outcome much the same as I was when two members on here were scammed by that guy in Staffordshire....I donated to the fund to help the guys recover some money. It's just a social justice kind of thing for me I suppose, I would rather help people if I can and that includes The bass doc in this case if he is seriously struggling... I mean no offence. 🙂
  23. We may well be but ... (1) It's still current for the op and (2) some new members may not know the story. I know none of the people involved, I was under the impression that The Bass Doctor was well liked until the were were some rumblings on here a while ago and when it seemed that it was resolved due to some personal problems, I was happy to believe that this community was all good....It seems that this is not the case. There may well be another side to the story but at the moment, one of our members is out of pocket...it would be good to hear what happens.
  24. I have bought all three of Dave's books because he told us about his first one here...I can't buy yours if you don't tell me what it is.🙂
