  1. Sales of Ibanez 7 strings went through the roof in the late 90s after Korn released their first album
  2. Looos awesome, Neurosis are one of those bands I really want to see but haven't been able to yet. Were you able to catch Yob?
  3. Has anyone played a Kiloton five string? I'd really like to give one a go
  4. Wowser, what an amazing experience, hope you get to do it again soon
  5. Don't sell Bubinga, this is just GAS, which will pass - often after playing in a different room, or if your guitarist tweaks his EQ. I remember reading before how much you love that Sei, and as you say, they don't come up often so replacing it if you change your mind will be difficult ๐Ÿ˜€ I've spent days convincing myself I need a different bass before playing another gig and realising my Lakland jazz does exactly what I need. Are there different strings that could take your Sei closer to the Miller sound?
  6. I've never been to Arctangent, but I really should - every year I look at the poster in envy
  7. Two this weekend, both made more difficult than they needed to be by deps who didn't read messages properly. Saturday was a 40th birthday in a bar in Burgess Hill, with a guitar dep who for some reason thought he was only playing rhythm, despite me pointing out to him in the messages before hand he'd need lead tones and might need delays or reverbs for his solos if he used that sort of thing. Went pretty well, he's a good player but clearly wasn't comfortable with the whole set; I will concede me telling him the wrong key for a couple of songs didn't help.... Sunday was an open air event in one of the big local parks organised by the council; this time it was a drum dep who thought he only needed breakables when he needed a full kit. Fortunately his parents lived across town, so was able to run home and get the rest of the kit. Once he was set up, it was great, I've played with him in the past and he's a really good drummer. That was a great gig, about 2k people there, a lot of them up and dancing despite it being a hot day, really enjoyed it.
  8. I don't know if it would be popular, but a 35" scale Stingray five with a set neck would be brilliant
  9. Slay Duggee's album Kids Love Metal, as the youngest has requested "Scary Stick" It's metal versions of songs from pre-schooler's TV
  10. Just giving that a spin, it really is a cracking bass tone
  11. I'm less energetic on stage than I used to be, which is a combination of: Being older Being more tired Using non-moulded, wired IEM As a result I move about less, but not Tool levels of stationary
  12. Excellent, I too have happy memories of performinng and watching bands here
  13. DiGiorgio only played on the first Soen record, which is this one The guy they have now is extremely good, and has some great Sandberg tones, but lacks the fretless loveliness of this album.
  14. Sounds like Phil knows what his audience wants I've recently been listening to Pantera again for the first time in ages - it seems to suit the current hot weather
  15. Check out Wheel and Soen, both very Tool like - Soen have ex-Opeth drummer Martin Lopez and Steve DiGiorgio played bass on the first record
  16. Love that bass, was one of my favourites in the blind test at last year's SEBB
  17. Sun's out so punk rock is the order of the day: Rancid, Capdown, NOFX, AFI, Bad Religion etc
  18. Not bad last night, first half was pretty quiet, but then I think that was the weather. Towards the end of the night someone requested some Metallica, I think they'd been up to Twickenham the other night, so we started Sandman. Now I've not done this for a while, but sometimes when we play Metallica I do Rob Trujullo's crab walk, and last night I thought I'd bring it out. What a mistake. I need to learn I CANNOT do this without stretching first. When I stood up after the song kicked it, my thighs screamed at me and walking around was okay but occasionally they let themselves be known. Then, I almost fell out the car when i got home as my legs weren't working right and I struggled to get up the stairs. WHY DID I DO THIS? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Getting out of bed this morning was also interesting ๐Ÿ˜ I guess this is being in your mid-30s.....๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  19. Well.......not necessarily ๐Ÿ˜
  20. I'm looking forward to their new album, I won't be too disapointed if the new album is more straight ahead, Winter was good, but far too long
  21. My favourite was when Gaahl and King Ov Hell took Infernis to court to try and wrestle away the rights to the Gorgoroth name. The look on the judge's face when reading the documents must've been priceless.
  22. I love black metal names, they're so daft
  23. Let us know what the new Fen material is like ๐Ÿ˜€
  24. $30 just gets you a download? Pass. Particularly as it'll presumably be on streaming sites in the future anyway. Not that I'd have been interested in the first place, but those rewards are awful
