  1. I was about to post that 😀 love this series of videos
  2. Not my experience of Barts - I'm currently borrowing a defretted Ibanez SR with their soapbars and I've played a Mayones equiped with the single coils - that's how I find them. The Ibanez is better than I was expecting, but I'm still unerwhelmed.
  3. I've never used a Dingwall anger - just at shops/Bass Bash/my mate's ABZ, but they've never done anything for me tonally. Very comfortable necks, superb build quality (particularly on the Z3 I played at the SE Bass Bash a couple of years ago) but I've always found the tone cold, dull and sterile - a bit Bartolini like now I think about it. I also found the 37" low B no better than other basses with 34 or 35" scale lengths.
  4. Knowing Gibson, if they were to do that, they'd only bear a passing resemblance to the 70s Rippers and Grabbers
  5. Well. That's a bit awesome.
  6. The Tributes use the same pickups as the USA models, but the hardware is different. However, I don't think there is a Tribute LB-100 unfortunately.
  7. I've wanted to play a Ripper with a pick into an overdriven valve amp for a few years now, this doesn't help I was actually surprised at how similar the tone sounded when you switched to fingers - a little less top end, but not a lot in it, far less difference than on, say, a Precision.
  8. I love the bassline to this song, particularly the intro
  9. Love that 😎
  10. We see that at work often - the delivery drivers know the names of the goods-in staff, so sometimes sign their names. This can lead to awkward questions if there's a delivery query and the normal goods-in operator is on holiday....
  11. Ooft, that SB1 is a bit tasty
  12. It's great that they offer some level if customisation when you order USA models - choice from a range of neck profiles and a wide number of finish options; but I'd love it if they offered a choice of scale length. If I could buy a 35" Kiloton five string then my credit card would be weeping
  13. Cave In - White Silence
  14. I too really like the MFD pickups, both the Humbuckers on the L2000/L2500 and PJ on the SB2 I've owned.
  15. I've seen angled headstocks to create the right break angel of the string mentioned as one element of getting a good low B, so would that make headless basses (on paper at least) a better or worse option?
  16. After listening to Dillinger earlier, it took me to Croatoan by Starkweather - that was the band bassist Liam Willson was in before joining DEP - pretty decent so far
  17. That's a great record
  18. The Dillinger Escape Plan - One Of Us Is The Killer
  19. My mate is looking for a bassist (and vocalist) to complete his modern prog-metal/djent band Khabal. He's a great guy and a really good songwriter/producer. Check out the video demo below of him and the drummer playing through a track They're based in the East Grinstead/Crawley sort of area.
  20. Mostly heavy stuff - black metal, post-hardcore, grind, death metal, doom, sludge, thrash But I do tend to take tangents, often for a few days at a time before reverting to the usual, often jazz or hip-hop; I'm currently on a 90s alt-rock/grunge kick
  21. Give these guys a listen: http://borntomurdertheworld.bandcamp.com/album/the-infinite-mirror-of-millennial-narcissism It's a collaboration between Shane from Napalm Death and Mick from Anaal Nathrakh, plus they've got Drunk (Duncan) from Mistress/Fukpig/live Nathrakh on vocals. It's not long, but it is good
  22. Until recently I had one of those in that finish, but with a rosewood board; it was a '95, as they didn't do that finish for long, yours is probably from around then
  23. Unfortunately, they tended to write it ISIS, when they got back together for a show last year, they went out under the name Celestial
  24. Wowser, I love that 😍
  25. That was fantastic, really well played by the whole band. Imagine if Master Of Reality had your bass tone, rather than the rubber bands nailed to a piece of wood sound it actually has.
