I am dying to get back to gigs, but, I did enjoy some quieter weekends to start with; having three neurodiverse children can make it difficult and stressful to leave the house on a Saturday evening with just my wife to mange them all, so it's been nice to not have to worry about that. Also, I started a new job at the beginning of May, which has been, and continues to be incredibly hard work and stressful, fitting in gigs as well might have been hard; the job should (hopefully) reach peak stress levels in July/August, so I'm hoping gigs come back soon after then.

I've got a TRB1005J, so similar, but I don't know how close the electrics are. I too am underwhelmed with the pre-amp, pickups are pretty good I think, but the pre isn't great. For my money the centre frequency of the mid-range control is set too low, so there's too much bottom end. I tend to cut the bass by about 50%, boost the mids to max, boost the treble by about 30% and then favour the bridge pickup by about 50% That gives me a much clearer and articulate sound, though my strings are a bit old, so would back those ratios off a bit with new strings.

We had a booking come in for August a couple of weeks ago, I've no expectation of playing it. I wouldn't be surprised to see some smaller venues open up again at the end of the summer, only for lockdown to shut it all down again by the start of the winter.

Pantera this morning - The Great Southern Trendkill, I think that's my favourite of theirs.

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral I've never really listened to NIN beyond a few of their more obvious tracks, but this is very good and if I'd heard it at the right age (probably around 21), I'd have probably got really into them

Just listened to it, not my usual thing at all, but the song writing, musicianship, arrangements and production are all superb Not a band I'll listen to often, but I could see myself listening to this again.

I don't think you can criticise the timing when it's only a portion of the entire composition, the timing is correct in the context of the complete song, which is the only thing that matters. If one of the instruments is (unintentionally) out of time with the others, then that would be a problem, but if the whole band are playing together then I see that as in time, regardless of what the quantize grid says. Also, I love his tone on this, exactly the sort of sound I like.

He recorded the bass for My Arms, Your Hearse too as new recruit Martin Mendez hadn't time to learn the parts before they were scheduled to record the album.

My love of The Dillinger Escape Plan means I normally have to listen on headphones, but if I want to get rid of the children it's a good shout
