Rant time........ 3 weeks ago, a promoter at a Cardiff club (The Moon, for any Cardiffians out there), tells us that he has a slot free for this Saturday and could we play? The night is arranged as our band ¡Super Chango! headlining and our sax player's other band in support. We agree to a pretty low fee on the basis that he will book us for future gigs and pay us a decent amount once he's seen us. Both bands then do a load of promo work and we organise someone to film us and a photographer too. Yesterday I receive a facebook invite to an event in The Moon Club for.....this Saturday! So I phone the promoter who of course isn't answering his phone and leave a message. This was his reply this morning:
Hey, Just got your v.mail... Forgive late reply, we have been debate all day about sat. Due to the late confirmation of the gig we felt it won't work as the time is too short to promote it properly and have a decent for both parties (venue & band). So the plan is to have something on which won't cost the venue and still have people coming through the door, one of team member suggested someone which i don't know much about. I do sincerely apologise for the messing around and the lateness of the decision. It's totally my fault. If you guys aren't too P-off i like to keep you in mind for another gig where i'll make sure you do get the fee you require and the crowd. Again sorry and hope you understand. Talk soon. P.
Git!!! Shall we demand the gig fee in any case and lose any chance of playing there in the future? I've since heard that he's done this to a couple of other local bands but in their case he didn't bother to tell them before they turned up on the night...

+10000 for Interparcel. Cheapest I've seen and service has always been more than excellent.

Check out The Arches in Cardiff - they've got it pretty good I reckon. You pay monthly and get to use it a certain amount depending on your monthly rate. You book the times yourself online. There's storage there which you can pick-up drop-off to 24 hours a day -so useful for when you have gigs. here's the site: http://www.thecardiffarches.com
Playing with a dep drummer next Saturday. This is the first time I will have done this. He's a guy with a great reputation around our parts. Even sounds like a real pro. He's taken a recording of one our recent gigs and says he can transpose it, learn it and play exactly that when we play next week.
Does he play in a different key to your regular drummer then?

The most mis-attributed song on the internet?
chaypup replied to spinynorman's topic in General Discussion
Many many many people think that "Be Thankful for What you Got" is a Curtis Mayfield song. A few also think ut's Massive attack, but a t least Massive Attack covered it on their Blue Lines album. It is, of course [s]Cecil B DeMille[/s] William DeVaughn -
I absolutely love this - great groove going on and I could listen all night - no wonder you were happy
Thanks! I'll give you a shout if we play Cheltenham way

Great gig last night in Ghwdihw in Cardiff. Crowd were well up for it helped by the fact that we started the set with 2 breakdancers dressed in gold robot costumes doing their thing to 'They call me MISTER Tibbs'! After everyone went crazy and the place was bouncing. O Only slight downside was I didn't take my home-made 'gramma pad' due to the fact that I'd seen loads of bands there and the bass always sounded fine. Soundchecked and it was booming all over the place so it was a quick bike ride back to the house and back just in time to pop it under the amp before we started. Lesson learned!

In Cardiff, Cathays Community Centre has the cheapest which are £18 for 3 hours and they're great guys. There's also the Arches which are rented at a monthly rate and you can lock up and access your gear there 24 hours a day.

Great time in Abercarnage tonight and first full-on gig for the SuperChangonians. Went down really well and got soem repeat bookings as well which was cool. Only blip was the drummer's stick snapping and a piece flying off and hitting the ' mute all channel' button on the desk! What are the chances? Took us a while to work it out but we covered well by doing 2 solos each! (An advantage of playing in a psychedelic jazz funk band!) Edit: Forgot to mention that at the after party ended up having a chat with Burke Shelley and what a thoroughly nice chap he is!

Met Richard Bailey a couple of times whilst working for Mr Winwood - top guy! Wish I could make this one.

How to look on stage? I use my eyes, same as anywhere else! Edit: Great video though!

Looking for a simple bit of looping / slowing down software.

Quicktime slows down, loops and pitch shifts and it's probably already on your Mac. -
I was hoping you'd be along! Yes, that's what I thought too. The headstock doesn't look as though it's been reshaped though, if it had, I would've expected it to be as bad a job as the paint job on the neck. Yep, it's a 32" scale. Any idea where I'd find a wiring diagram? Thanks!
On closer inspection, of course the headstock has been reshaped! Edit: Wiring was fine, pickup is knackered.
