Maybe it could be something to do with the fact that you seem to have a problem with 'breadheads' as you mention them and the fact that there won't be paid work straight away? Most (all?) of the good players around will want to be getting paid work, especially if they are rehearsing every week and maybe paying for it.Also, they will probably have other commitments, which you also don't want. I'm not saying that you won't find a good player to join your band, but it may be limiting your search somewhat.
+1 When I was starting up my band and there were no gigs booked, it took a whole year to get everyone I wanted (although it is a ten-piece!) and most of them were friends of friends. When I was looking for a drummer a couple of weeks ago and we have lots of gigs booked nearly all the people who applied were of a high standard and had been gigging for years. I also put the following line in our ad: "All gigs are paid"

[s]I meant I think it's been flipped - I'll do some digging and check.[/s] Ah yes that's the one. Weird, so those covers are original? -
Songs that you'd love to play live but probably never will.
Cheap(?) Aria Pro II SB600 in Poole (Gumtree) - £299 http://www.gumtree.c...ery-item-full-1
I think this sold on eBay last week - unless that wooden truss cover is from Aria and not a make-do -
Can we do a moning 'bash' and then all head somewhere at half 2 to watch the rugby? Good excuse for people to come to Cardiff then too....
Thanks for all the positive comments guys - really appreciated! I'll let you know how the first gig goes, LC
You could tell us Cardiff types about the gig in advance so we can come and support you!
One or both of them will turn out to be total psychos so your decision will be pretty straightforward once you've met them.
I thought psychos didn't reveal their true nature until after a load of rehearsals and halfway through the first gig? Or is that just our last singer......?

We have 2 drummers auditioning for us this week. From checking out their videos and having seen their shows I know they're both really good. One of them has his own studio and record label and lives pretty close to the rest of us. The other one lives about half an hour away.... but she looks really sexy on stage! Everyone (in the band, and Mrs Chaypup and friends) says choose the girl! What would you honestly do?
Love the Aria. I've just picked up an SBR-150. good scores well done
Was that the one on gumtree? Let's see some pics!

Daion Power xx's fit BRX's criteria, although maybe they're already collectables.

I wasn't getting on with the Ibanez so I decided it was going and I needed a new back-up bass preferably a fretless. Saw a Thunder II (fretted) going on eBay and what better back up for a Thunder II then another Thunder II? Then, the same day the Thunder arrived I spotted a fretless Aria Pro II SB-R60 2 minutes from my house! Well, I had to have it (missing a knob though it was)! I only want 2 basses in the house so it looks like one of the Westones is going to have to go.... If you like the dual P, but not the bass, I'm going to be selling one of my Westone Thunder II's soon.... I'll put pics up later.

Mike bought my Ibanez Roadstar II. Very smooth and quick transaction - top guy!

I suggest most of the songs and encourage the others to make suggestions too. No-one directly vetoes songs but if the singer doesn't like a track he'll 'forget' to learn it for a few weeks until we get the message.
If I could get one of those basses where the turn of a knob made the frets dissapear and a hipshot took the E all the way to B, I'd probably be quite happy. I'm sure that no such thing actually exists.
Oh yes it does..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2WOOIZXNks
