1. Our one rehearsal we allow ourselves for tomorrow's gig (new set each time) and man that was harrrrrrrd work! Should be good though
 2.
Now be quiet and check out some real bass playing.
Who IS that?
 3. Ha yeah ok - I'll take them all!
 4. I'll take the Overwaters please.
 5.
One wonders how anyone ever gets to use a jenny, in any circumstances, without risking a fry-up..! Your biggest problem, by far, is going to be trying to stand upright if the lorry has to accelerate, brake or turn at all. A bit like a cross-channel ferry in February. Bracing yourselves will be all the more difficult with both hands occupied by the bass..! Even at slow, carnival procession, speeds, you'll get a surprise, so be prepared to lurch towards something solid, if there is such a thing on a carnival float. Accidentally leaning too far over the back can be a thrill, too. The step is rather high. I've played drums on trailers before, it's not easy keeping the cymbal stands in place., even on a 'still' trailer. I hate to think how it could work without lashing absolutely everything firmly to everything else. Never mind the 'lecky shock stuff; work out how to keep your balance..! I still say 'Mime'..!
The simple and quite obvious solution is to attach the bass to a stand which is fixed to the truck. The you simply get the driver to accelerate or brake depending on whether you need to play up or down the fretboard. With a bit of practice I would've thought you could get some otherwise impossible runs in.
 6.
The Gibson fakes come with the nice cases with the Gibson logo. I have an ES-335 & a Gold Top Bass, hope they are real. Blue
But are they headless though?
 7. Did anybody see this build thread on TB? Great idea! http://www.talkbass.com/threads/coming-soon-steinbacker-fretless-bass.858532/page-11
 8. Oh wow this a nice one! I've owned a couple of these and they sound great!
 9. Thanks Rhys, will give them a call.
 10.
Has the 5 string altered the way you play with your left hand, you may find you are bending your wrist differently which can be a cause of numbness and tingling, you may find your right hand is becoming clumbsy because you are distracted by the discomfort and concern about your left hand?
Possibly, the neck is a different profile to my other basses, especially compared to my main bass which has an asymmetric neck. Doesn't explain my right hand weirdness though.
BAPAM site is worth checking out. Free to see a physio who understands the demands of playing on the body

I would guess Carpal TS but it is really a guess... The good thing...as far as anything like tis can be good..?? is that it appears to be triggered by a new or change of bass. I find I get a little ligament tweak on my palm when I use a 5st jazz neck incorrectly/lazily so I am thinking my hands/technique suit a 5st P bass type neck. My first port of call may well have been talking to a good pyshio..??? rather than a GP who will most likely have to refer you anyway..
Great idea, thanks! Will be calling BAPAM in the morning to book an appointment.
 11.
They were quite popular in the 80s, nice basses. Dave Pegg from Fairport Convention used one for a while, there's even an instrumental track on one of their albums ("Gladys' Leap") called "The Riverhead" in honour of it.
I had that bass for a while - he'd had it defretted too. Really nice to play.
 12. Recently (just this week) my hands have been going weird on me My left hand little and ring finger have been tingling when I play, and my right hand becomes slow and clumsy and I can't play accurately. This has coincided with: Using a new Stingray 5 string. Increasing my practise time to >2 hours a day for a load of different gigs I have coming up. Working more hours in a manual job outdoors (lots of digging, hammering, other repetitive stuff with hands) and becoming more muscly in the arms and shoulders (does that make a difference?) At the moment it's only when I play the 5 string, on my gigs with the 4 string it's ok. Looking at previous threads it sounds like CTS but a bass magazine article stated that little finger tingling is NOT CTS. I will see the doctor this week or as soon as I can get an appointment - anything else I can do? Has anyone else had these symptoms? The clumsy right hand is especially getting to me. PS. Since the symptoms started I cut back straight away on the practice to just working out tracks I need to learn and not going over stuff to get it technically correct.
 13.
Problem solved. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zero-Mod-Thumb-Rest-Tug-Bar-for-Stingray-Bass-in-Black-No-Mods-No-Holes-/261647606658?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ceb69a382 More models are on the way for different basses. I'm waiting for the Ray5 version.
Oh clever!
 14. 34 1/2" using the nut-12 fret x 2 method.
 15. Westone Thunder III Fretless. Very similar to one I had - why did I sell it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Westone-Thunder-iii-Fretless-Bass-guitar-Matsumoku-MIJ-/181681128557?ssPageName=ADME:SS:SS:GB:3160
 16. I always thought it was 34" but I'll have a measure tomorrow. If you PM me with tempting trades I'll likely be swayed
 17. Hi Reversebird, in Cardiff.
 18. Thought this was sold but the buyer hasn't responded to the last fortnight's worth of messages so it's still up for sale - BUMP!
 19.
I have concentrated so hard on the awkward bit of Master Blaster that I have it nailed 75% of the time but now I suck at the meat and pototoes parts of the song, Lol, back to the practice room........
It is a tricky bugger - I've been playing it on a 5-string this week from playing on a 4 and the switch from C on the E string to Bb on the B string is tripping me up occasionally. Ps on my new Stingray 5 too!
 20.
Reasonable compromise. Don't forget your broom and overalls and be a bit menacing if you're on bass duties.
I only have a short scale broom and it's also quite 'modern' sounding - how can I get that 70's vibe from it?
 21. Nice! Do you DJ? Would be one hell of a funky night if you did! Here's a live version with 'real' bass.Stevie Wonder - I Love You Too Much (Live) (with …: http://youtu.be/zLsQJNNaNkY
 22.
Go on, do the Gillan version. You know you want to.
We're playing the Stevie Version but acting out the Gillan version!
 23.
Lots to go at... my fave Stevie song is still 'I wish' even though most bands muder it. We've just added 'As if you read my mind' to our set....
Regretting including As if You Read My Mind now! How the hell do you play that chorus? I have the chords but it's just one massive run!!
