1.
Anyone tried Lonnie Liston Smith's Expansions? Never dared give it a try - sounds terrifying.
It's one riff. It's fairly easy and a nice one to play around with. Give it a go!
2. Bloody hell I can't believe this is still taking up space in my studio. £325 Then - come on!
3.
This is absolutely incredible ^.^ I have a Westone Thunder I and I adore their tone. If I was in the market for a four string, I'd buy this for over £500 easily
I'll stick an extra string on somewhere for £500!
4. '1960 What?' by Gregory Porter. 4 notes. Repeated for 6 minutes.
5. Our Trombonist is in Northampton...... £45 eh?
6. Pretty sure this is a Satellite, though the bridge is the same used on Yamaki-made basses (were Satellites made there?) 2 Hours to go and £50 - might make a good doer-upper! Might make a really nice bass!
7. Thunder III that was, and the later version with the magnabass pickups.
8.
Having a long think about this one! My old Thunder 1A was a great bass, shouldn't have sold it.
Do it! It's like a Thunder I - but twice as good!
9.
I still have a hard time dealing with the fact that you guys in the UK play 2 hour bar gigs and for us here in the States it's 4 hours. Blue
We do 3 1/2 to 4 hours hour sets at some of our residencies but it's treated mostly as background music and we throw in some loooooooooong instrumentals.
10.
This topic reminds me of gloomy Sunday by Billie holiday. Ot got banned from several countries as hundreds of people were commuting suicide. Quite an interesting but sad story behind it
Bit of an urban legend that one.
11. There's not a lot you can do with those bank details except pay money TO him. Here's his facebook page however so fill yer boots.... https://www.facebook.com/Liam.Carter.mac?fref=ts
12. Gig went pretty well, though it had promised to be a car crash, with no time for us to rehearse the set together. Anyway, afterwards I was asked to join a Snarky Puppy tribute band! Yes!
13.
I was a fan of the '96 production at the Lyceum. Steve Pearce on the soundtrack (poss in the live show too)- the cast were phenomenal. Google may prove otherwise but Steve Balsamo was Jesus (great rock voice- superb head voice) and Zubin Varla was an epic Judas- completely disturbed and uncomfortable with himself. Brilliant show in its opening weeks. Loved the show ever since I played a semi-pro production in my late teens.
I was in college with Steve Balsamo and was in a production of JCSS with him - great singer!
14.
Have you got any recordings of it? Also what's the neck like, is it quite thick?
There's a recording here on the Westone but not the best and with full band... https://soundcloud.com/superchangouk/they-call-me-mister-tibbs I never used to think the neck was chunky until I started using an asymmetric neck, and now, by comparison, I do!
15. Thanks for the replies, as stated above, it would be used with a new fretless neck ( sorry if that wasn't clear)
16. I'm getting a status fretless neck for my Stingray 5 and I've started thinking about getting a piezo pickup too. Anyone here done this before? I know it would be easier to get a bass with it already fitted but I like the colour mine is! (Pearl purple)
17.
Having spent many years coaching kids and struggling to find sponsors, and also being a big fan of the Blockheads and NWR in particular, I am pleased for you and at the same time extremely envious, but well done Chaypup!
Well done Big Collins! (Back row, far left) Not my doing at all, just sharing the fact that they did it
18. Norman's interested..
19. My mate got The Blockheads to sponsor his kid's football team, that's pretty cool in itself but after he supported them last night in Swansea he asked them to a match and they turned up! Brilliant guys!
