1.
Either: Just use one of the cabs? Whichever one sound best. Cost is zero. Or: Sell the cabs and buy 2x8 ohm cabs or one 4 ohm cab. Cost is lots.
Or, sell the LM2 and buy something that will run down to 2 Ohms. Even in the current climate it shouldn't be hard to shift an LM2.
 2.
well it's cured! there was a bad joint on the ribbon cable which joins the input board to the preamp board,
Just spotted this thread. Glad you got it sorted. I had very similar problems with my iAmp 350 which was caused by the op-amp in the pre-amp stage failing. My local amp tech replaced it with another op-amp, a masterful piece of work given that it's about the same size as a large ant!
 3. In The Shadows, The Rasmus . Up 2 semitones to fit the singer's vocal range.
 4.
isn't this the MM4?
No. The MM4 is a 6-string guitar.
 5.
Can I undo my vote? I thought this was about pickups
I think it is too, but not the kind that you fit to a bass.
 6.
How come the A string's bending like that on the close up pic of the headstock? Can't help thinking this would look awesome with either a 3-ply B/W/B plate or even a brown tortoiseshell one.
It's held there by the grooves under the string retainer. Yes, a BWB may well improve the looks. TBH I'm not someone who is particularly concerned with how a bass looks - it's how it plays and sounds that counts, and this is fine on both.
 7.
Regent Sounds, Bass Cellar, Drum Cellar, Hank's Acoustics, Rockers, etc. etc. are ALL just 'departments' of the same shop so any attempt to play each of them off against the others on price is a complete waste of time.
It's surprising that Hanks are part of that setup. They have real guitars and seem to be run by real people. I was down there last week and popped in for a visit. Same old same old. The Bass Cellar still has that obnoxious sign on the till: "Want a bass but got no cash? Don't waste our time." Guys, I have news for you: your time is worthless and I'll waste as much of it as I see fit. Bizarrely, they had a Hofner Senator and a Vox Wyman (my first two basses) hanging in the 'Vintage - do not touch' section next to one another. I was very nearly sick on the spot. I'd love to go in there with a credit card inscribed: "Want to sell a bass but have sh*t stock and non-existent customer service? .... "Hopefully the place will be flattened and turned into a McDonalds, where the current droids might learn something. Another +1 for Wunjos. There is still at least one real guitar shop in Denmark St, though who knows for how much longer given the other comments in this thread. What will we have left to moan about? Also a big woo for Macaris a bit further down Charing X road for having a Guitarron in stock, even if they don't know how to tune it! I was very very tempted :-)
 8.
when you say unmissable.......
I think it's one of the best sites on the web. Updated twice a week, fabulous craftsmanship, strange and bizarre guitars, friendly dogs, lovely countryside, all presented in a nicely understated fashion. I never miss an update, it makes my day.
 9. Judging by the unmissable workshop diary, Ben at Crimson Guitars is more than capable.
 10. Bump.
 11. Bump. Still available. Please don't make me Ebay this, make me an offer instead.
 12.
I sincerely hope you managed to get paid?
Yes we did, but I'm too embarrassed to tell you how much. After reading about your experiences I tried to talk our way out of it, but I failed. Burman didn't get much of a work out though. We got measured with a sound meter and had to be less than 110 dB . Master volume never got above '2' .
 13.
Have you seen this: http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/200804.shtml#2008-04-21085253 Sell from a different PC (i.e. at work) and they'll want to 'phone you for permission?!?!
Despite reading the page and the links, I'm not clear how this works. Collecting IP addresses clearly isn't going to work, since most people are on DHCP broadband accounts anyway and don't have fixed IP addresses. So what information are they using to identify a particular computer, the MAC address? Wonder whether this has any implications for privacy.
 14. My pop covers band Crossover has a gig in the Railway, Foxhall Rd Ipswich tonight at 8.00pm. A rare opportunity to give the Burman a good workout If anyone is at a loose end come along and introduce yourself.
 15. soundsforce5 did OK with this one. He bought it a month or so ago with a best offer of £125 quid! 16.
MB1. These people used to make cakes!
Eh? Sorry, that one's gone right over my head. You'll have to draw me a diagram or summat.
 17.
Due to having just obtained a Fender Japan Phil Lynott Precision I am looking at maybe selling the brand new project parts I never got around to assembling.... Alder Fender Precision body (black) £120 (Equivalent on Allparts £180)
I might be interested in the body, if you decide to go ahead and split it up.
 18. Now this might be interesting to collectors of elderly valve ephemera. Ebay item no, 110243796943, URL (pardon the wrap) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Park-70-watt...1QQcmdZViewItem I don't know anything about these - any here had any experience of them?
 19.
This is what you need.
That has to be the clearest explanation of how to set up a bass that I've ever seen. Nice one. The finnbass one is probably fine, if I could be bothered to log into finnbass.
 20.
Only shortcoming is it weighs 48kg but I can get it into my car on my own so no real worries only an occasional bout of laziness on my part.
It does sound good , I can vouch for it. And only 48 kg too, my Burman guitar combo weighs 55kg ! Someone in the For Sale forum had an Eden Nemesis 300w 2x12 Neo combo, which I reckon would be a good choice even if it is second hand. It'd certainly weigh a lot less.
 21.
Did anyone else notice that from certain angles, Ms Goldfrapp looked as if her knickers had fallen down?
I think we're going to have to wait for Ferret to watch the HDTV version for confirmation. LOL.
 22.
I'm gonna record this weeks on both normal/stereo and HD/5.1 to see if the mix is different. I've not always been impressed with the mixing on Jools and I'm kinda curious how it is done, different mixes for the room/live broadcast/live HD broadcast/rerun broadcast/rerun HD broadcast/iPlayer etc.
If the live show was anything to go by, you might want to wait until next week! That was the worst line-up I've ever seen on Later, even worse than last weeks. I wouldn't want to listen to it more than once. Bring back Estelle!
 23.
There's at least one seller on the first page who is 'no longer a newbie' on the strength of his 'bump' posts.
A fix for that could be to classify the 'For Sale' forums in the same way as Off Topic, so posts in there don't count towards the rating.
 24. Sounds like someone got a lot of bass for 200 quid. Also looks like it went to someone who collects ornaments, judging by his feedback! LOL.
 25. They're like buses. Nothing for ages, and then two come along at once. Friday night, the first proper gig for the pop covers band. Country pub in the middle of nowhere, small but V. enthusiastic and appreciative crowd. Band played well, I nailed everything including 'Twister' (that Cass is some bass player) and everyone including landlord was very happy. Next stop The Railway, about which I have very mixed feelings but we don't really have any alternatives - if you want to go to heaven, you've got to learn how to blow silent farts in church. Last night, depping for Bilbo in the Mar Azul while he was off having his wicked way with some jazz standards. Bloody hell! I've never played any Brazilian music and I hadn't had time to look at the 400 songs on the DVD that someone sent me, so I was sight reading and transposing chords from a set of lyrics in Portuguese, guessing chords off guitar (not too bad) and cavaquino (how is that tuned?), and an entire set which consisted of one 45 minute samba. Much respect to Bilbo - when you see him play this stuff you think it sounds like a piece of cake until you're there in the thick of it. Handling a completely different genre without seemingly breaking sweat is the mark of someone who really knows what he's doing.
