Since it's 4 ohms, can it actually run an extension cab? I'd be interested, but only if it can be paired with another 2x12" cab.
I think it runs a 4 Ohm extension in series giving an 8 Ohm load, so you don't get the full power out of the amp but you do get much more noise because you're shifting much more air.

Amp / Cab Shootout! - Spur-of-the-moment Geordie Bass Bash!
i love the sound of EBS gear, but the cabs are just too heavy.
I don't understand this comment. My EBS 2x12 Neo is about 24 Kg, which is less than half the weight of the 4x10 it replaced. -
I must admit to being a little disappointed with the choice of Oliver as the musical for this year though, as the role of Nancy isn't hugely demanding from a vocal perspective.
On the other hand, there are probably more good tunes in this one musical than in ALW's entire lifetime output. Composed by Lionel Bart, who deserves a namecheck.

I'm after a 24-fret bass with classic styling
pete.young replied to markyboy2106's topic in Bass Guitars
Jim Reed is a guitar assembler based in Italy - he makes a 5-string Fender-shape with a sort-of 24 fret neck - the fingerboard extends over the end of the neck in a kind-of curve (truss rod adjustment is done at the head end). I have a 4-string Jazz which I bought as a cheap beater. It has a really nice neck on it and Kent Armstrong pickups, so it sounds decent. There are two problems: the neck pocket is a worse fit than the panels on a Range Rover, and the curved bit over the fingerboard is pain - I keep meaning to saw mine off! http://www.jimreed.it/eng/index.php Good luck finding a UK dealer though. I think there's a guy who sells them on Ebay -
Yup I asked the mods. Not allowed.
So you can sell the interface, and you can sell the software, but not the bit that goes inbetween? I understand that the forum owners don't want to open up the for sale forums to flogging general purpose computer equipment, but in a case like this where the computer is part of a package which is clearly musically related, I think that applying the policy is unreasonably draconian. Especially considering that it has been permitted in the not-too-distant past. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7571&hl=mac Guys, I think you should reconsider this one. -
+1 Was it established with the mods that he fundamentally wasn't allowed to list the mac?
I mustard mitt that I haven't checked, and may well have jumped to the wrong conclusions. If so, I apologise unreservedly. I expect someone will be along shortly who can explain. -
SOrry guys, im not actually allowed to sell my mac through this forum, but heres my email No macs here.
Can there really be moderators on this forum who don't understand that a Mac is a legitimate piece of musical equipment, going right back to the days of Thomas Dolby in the 1980s? Come on guys, cut the man some slack. A Mac when bundled with a firewire interface is still a piece of 'Other musically related stuff', just like any guitar, guitar amp, synth, whatever. Metalmaniac, we're stuffted to the gills with Macs but I'm still interested in the interface if you'll sell it on its own. Please PM me and let me know. -
This will be bumped untill sold.
I'm not really in the market for one of these, but if I were I wouldn't even consider it unless you put the original knobs back on. I've got some horrible cheap knobs with marker lines on that I'll send you if you really can't manage without knowing what the pot setting is.

One went through Evilbay about 8 months ago for somewhere in the region of £350 quid. I guess you either love or hate the inlays, but the bass is a Made In Japan Yamaha so a quality instrument. The new price was something like £1300 if I remember rightly. This looks like the one that was up for sale on Talkbass for $550 a couple of weeks ago. It's a neck-through, so shipping it is going to be expensive. I'd quite like one of these (the inlays work for me :-) but not at that price. Does anyone know who Michael Anthony is/was? I've never heard of him.

Running Little Mark II into wrong (impedance) cabs in series
pete.young replied to mintybassman's topic in Amps and Cabs
Either: Just use one of the cabs? Whichever one sound best. Cost is zero. Or: Sell the cabs and buy 2x8 ohm cabs or one 4 ohm cab. Cost is lots.
Or, sell the LM2 and buy something that will run down to 2 Ohms. Even in the current climate it shouldn't be hard to shift an LM2. -
well it's cured! there was a bad joint on the ribbon cable which joins the input board to the preamp board,
Just spotted this thread. Glad you got it sorted. I had very similar problems with my iAmp 350 which was caused by the op-amp in the pre-amp stage failing. My local amp tech replaced it with another op-amp, a masterful piece of work given that it's about the same size as a large ant!
Can I undo my vote? I thought this was about pickups
I think it is too, but not the kind that you fit to a bass.
How come the A string's bending like that on the close up pic of the headstock? Can't help thinking this would look awesome with either a 3-ply B/W/B plate or even a brown tortoiseshell one.
It's held there by the grooves under the string retainer. Yes, a BWB may well improve the looks. TBH I'm not someone who is particularly concerned with how a bass looks - it's how it plays and sounds that counts, and this is fine on both.
Regent Sounds, Bass Cellar, Drum Cellar, Hank's Acoustics, Rockers, etc. etc. are ALL just 'departments' of the same shop so any attempt to play each of them off against the others on price is a complete waste of time.
It's surprising that Hanks are part of that setup. They have real guitars and seem to be run by real people. I was down there last week and popped in for a visit. Same old same old. The Bass Cellar still has that obnoxious sign on the till: "Want a bass but got no cash? Don't waste our time." Guys, I have news for you: your time is worthless and I'll waste as much of it as I see fit. Bizarrely, they had a Hofner Senator and a Vox Wyman (my first two basses) hanging in the 'Vintage - do not touch' section next to one another. I was very nearly sick on the spot. I'd love to go in there with a credit card inscribed: "Want to sell a bass but have sh*t stock and non-existent customer service? .... "Hopefully the place will be flattened and turned into a McDonalds, where the current droids might learn something. Another +1 for Wunjos. There is still at least one real guitar shop in Denmark St, though who knows for how much longer given the other comments in this thread. What will we have left to moan about? Also a big woo for Macaris a bit further down Charing X road for having a Guitarron in stock, even if they don't know how to tune it! I was very very tempted :-)

Anyone know where I can get inlay work done?
when you say unmissable.......
I think it's one of the best sites on the web. Updated twice a week, fabulous craftsmanship, strange and bizarre guitars, friendly dogs, lovely countryside, all presented in a nicely understated fashion. I never miss an update, it makes my day. -

Judging by the unmissable workshop diary, Ben at Crimson Guitars is more than capable. -
