Doubt it, I wouldn't fancy my chances balancing a valve amp on top of a vertical 6x10!
Good point, I think it would need to be at least a 6x12"

Well, we tried Merton's with my Burman 100W valve head at one of the bashes and while there are no definitive measurements, it was definitely loud enough!
How different from the Vintage is this, just out of curiosity? (No, I am not going to buy one, my next purchase is a Big Twin!!)
I'd like to know that too.

Now here's something you don't see every day - a Greco. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage87-GRECO-RB-m...=item4155872e64
*puts anti-nuclear flash glasses on* Christ Jesus, they are bright!!!!
You should see them under UV light! Don't have a picture of that, probably just as well. Ady, the rest of the band admired them for the obligatory 30 seconds and then moved on to the usual whinges! As for sound, they sound remarkably like the DR Sunbeams, I had on my G&L2500 which is not a massive surprise. Rich and round and warm, if you like that kinda thing. I'll admit I was originally thinking about putting them on the TRB5, but the colour is just too much of a clash. Seems a much better fit with the natural wood of the Bass Collection.

There is a lot of great information on this site, the trick is not to try and overload yourself. Check out the major's bass boot camp http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=74284, don't try and do all of this, and not in one go, just dip in and out when you feel the need for something new to work on. -
+1 on the Bonnie Raitt song. Personally, I hate bad salads.
Yeah, nobody sings a torch song like Bonnie Raitt. Love Has No Pride is another great one. I'd like to nominate My Immortal by Evanesence - here's Amy singing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2qZt8l7Xy8

Who's battling their way to a gig tonight?
pete.young replied to JMT3781's topic in General Discussion
I'm heading off to Great Cornard in Essex shortly for a Pogues tribute gig. No problems here, though theres snow forecast for later on. -
Just to add to the Wakemanny stuff, he also played keyboards on Bowie's "Life on Mars".
He did the whole Hunky Dory album. I hated Yes. Still do. Can't get past the awful vocals. ELP, now there's a proper prog band.
I think the Lineal is based on a EHX LPB-1 and he HardOne is a Zvex SHO clone.
Thanks for that. In that case the Zvex clone is probably the one I'll go for. I also found these guys: http://www.diypedalkits.com/ . Has anyone here had anything to do with them? Kind regards, Pete
seeing as you will end up getting all your stuff from www.musikding.de look at their kits....
That's very handy - I was just thinking that I could really use a clean boost pedal, and here are two of them! Would anyone care to comment on what the difference might be between the Lineal and the HardOne, other than the former has a linear pot and the latter a log pot?

Here's what they look like in a gig situation under typical pub lights and Maplin 4-bulb flash boxes. Excuse the bass face! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=101...63.342366270523
My cunning plan is to build something similar but a lot smaller or perhaps a pleasure stool.
What you need is a bumchum. http://www.thebumchum.co.uk/ "It consists of our very own throne top with the finest Tactile Generator mounted internally (Patent Pending)" - I think that means it's fitted internally into the stool :-)

Status Hotwires - £16.50 for one set including postage. I have a set of 30-50-70-90 I don't need (was actually a 5-string set and I only used the low 'B') - yours for a tenner, posted. PM me if you're interested.

Not crap. But with less than a day to go, this is way too cheap! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT -
This is the sort of thing that Ben at Crimson Guitars would be able to do . Start saving! www.crimsonguitars.co.uk. I've no connection with them, other than an avid reader of the workshop diary and dreamer.

Just beginning to wonder if I've done the right thing. I can't wait to see what the band thinks. Picture doesn't really do justice to the vividness of the colour:
I hope the Futurama basses are better than the original 60's ones. My 1st bass (Christmas '74) was a 2nd hand Futurama loosely based on a Jazz. Cost £10. Pure sh*te!
In the late '70s, I owned an original Futurama bass from the '60s, a Hagspiel Coronado IV, branded 'Futurama'. If you scroll down past the 6string you can find one here: http://www.hagstrom.org.uk/Hagstrom_future_is_past.htm Mine was an excellent bass with a huge tone. I wish I still had it. Rumour has it that it found it's way to Richard Sinclair of Caravan/Hatfield and the North fame at one point.
