1. Hey guys, first topic i've created so just a little 'Hello' from me! Our cover band is starting to get regular work in and we are looking to get some better lights as the venues are getting bigger! Currently we have 2 Equinox Micro LED Bars, they are great for pubs, small halls and marquees, but i feel we need something a little bigger. Maybe some floor cans? Par cans? I was wondering on what type of lights do you guys use? And what venues will they be suitable for? Some advice would be great. Thanking you... Daniel.
2. Personally the LED's imo look gimmicky and tacky. But hey, thats just me!
3.
A lot of things wouldn't exist with out them, full stop, end of story. Most of the people in this thread contesting otherwise are very much free to do so and opinions matter but not a single thing so far has countered the fact that their influence was anything less than extraordinary, most arguments generally stemming from a fairly obvious dislike of the band.
This.
4.
I dont . People wh do, and who rabbit on about their facebook 'lives' posting personal information, thinking the world is interesed in their holiday snaps, and bragging about their 700 friends, 699 of whom they never actually met, need to step back and take a look Only my opinion mind, your welcome to do as you please.
I agree with you, narcissistic the lot of them. I don't have a FB page, but i do have a band FB and it does help a lot when it comes down to gigs!
5. In my old band, we just planned the nights then hoped for the best. Generally we asked the audience to kip on their floor and 99% of the time some girls let us :-) After 2 weeks of floor/car sleeping it does start to get a bit much.
6. Meh, why not: http://www.facebook.com/emperorpenguinsband
7. Ah man i would love to. I have a 500/1 and it's fantastic. A little cheaper and i'll have it myself!
8.
the line 6 mobile in looks great will need to get an adapter for the lightning connector to go with it though.
Thing is with the Line 6 mobile in, it has no AUX in and also doesn't integrate with itunes library.
9.
I have spoken briefly with someone about these earplug today and they have told me that they are phasing out the ER15's and are moving to the PRO series, as a result they have recommended the PRO17. Does anyone have any experience with these or has anyone spoken to ACS directly with regards to these recently? Many thanks or any assistant on this.
I have spoken to ACS recently and they are very helpful. The PRO 17's are probably the best, great for BV's and a great attenuation.
10. Hey guys, quick question... I've been using GHS Fast Fret for a while on my basses, and i think its great. I've recently put some La'Bella's on my Hofner and was wondering if i could still apply the Fast Fret? Im guessing it shouldn't be a problem?
11. Went to get some ACS Customs last night and my ears are too blocked with wax!! He said he couldn't take the moulds, which is understandable. Funny thing is i only got my ears syringed/cleaned a couple of months ago!
12.
Why? Because in my experience, ER-20s are more than sufficient at a tenth of the price. They fit me very well and I have no ringing in my ears after gigs or rehearsals. With that in mind I think it is factually incorrect to say that custom moulded plugs are the only things to consider, in my world at least. There are other options, and perfectly serviceable ones at that.
They may fit well but cut out a lot of ranges. As i do a lot of vocals it's necessary to have earplugs that have an emphasis on high pitch frequencies and ER-20's just dont do this.
13.
I always understood that there is no 'bass' on Red House - it's a guitar with the bass turned up, the lowest note played is 'E' on the guitar and that it's Noel Redding. Will give it another listen to see if my memory's playing tricks
Maybe played on a Fender bass VI?
14. Jazz III's are way too small for me. I have a mix but mainly Dunlop 1.00mm the blue ones.
15. I enjoy rehearsals, learning new songs and going over ones we have not played in a while, however it only takes one person to be pessimistic about the evening to put a downer on the whole session!
16. It might be handy to ring Ebay and ask? 020 8605 3000 Thats ebays main switchboard number. If not you have to get a invite code by going through eBay support online and ringing 0800 3583229
17.
Just bought Sgt Pepper a few days ago, it's still in its wrapper unlistened to at this point. I'm 47, and I've never heard the album.
What are you waiting for! I was lucky to be brought up on that album.. im 24! Put headphones on, listen to the album in full and chill. Wish i had the chance to listen to that album for the first time again.
18.
McCartney was very much influenced by Jamerson. He introduces the songs on the CD that acompanies the tribute book about Jamerson, called "Standing in the Shadows of Motown".
Definitely, especially in Got To Get You Into My Life. To me, McCartney got me into bass and learning his style and technique is something everyone could benefit from.
19. Listen to Something, Penny Lane, Hey Bulldog, Drive my Car and so many more. Basically the whole of Sgt Pepper is amazing, especially Lovely Rita.
20. No doubt he played it on a bass VI as well. I've learnt this but it took me a while. Like Chris said it just revolves around the 3 root notes. I've got the transcription at home, dont mind uploading some pics if i get time?
21. Steve Marriot - Vocals Ringo Starr - Drums Steve Winwood - Organ & Everything else Gary Moore - Lead The Ox - Bass Jack White - Rhythm Although this changes daily. Metal Wise: Basically mash up Opeth, Megadeth & Mastodon and chuck in Hetfield on guitar. Prog Wise: Peter Gabriel Chris Squire Fripp Phil Collins Greg Lake Justin Haywood
22. Played the whole gig with the Hofner last night. Generally use it as a backup but forgot how much fun it was too play!
23. We had (in the process of a new one) a neat promo pack in a PDF. This included Pictures, contact details, prices, rates, testimonials e.t.c The whole shabang really. We have a promo video now so might make a digital promo pack, if not just have links from within the PDF. I really think quality photos and a quality video is essential.
24. I study there! Nowt much going on over there tho!
