2. We always take our camper-van to most of our gigs, so a lot of food/booze/magazines e.t.c Mostly we always try and make an event out of our gigs, as most of our weddings are on Saturday evenings, we drive up the night before, party in the local town, then head to the gig the next day. Then sleep over. Makes the weekend awesome.
3.
Honestly, it's less of a learning curve to either adapt to Windows 8, or learn how to tweak it to behave just like Windows 7, than it is to go Mac. You can get start menu replacements and disable all the metro stuff, and enable IE compatibility mode or just use Chrome/Firefox for BC. iOS is cool, but OSX on the Mac is a major pain to work with compared to Windows!
I don't believe so. Macs, because built on a unix box is so much more robust, secure and I find easier to use. But hey that's just me.
4. We just do it ourselves. We only do functions, but have no engineer. Means more money for us..
5.
iPad. There's nothing quite as awesome, IMHO.
This.
6. Schallers or the Grolsch washers.
7. Good Luck with everything mate. I get pains in the top of my hands, and they ache after a couple hours work. I'm getting worried as we are needing a medical to go for cruise work, and i'm hoping nothing gets picked up. I should go to the Doctors really..
8.
anyone who is on bass chat at 12:27 during a weekday has got the balance wrong
Lol, work is slow...
9.
I hope you're not considering giving up! You're way too talented!!! You know how busy I am. I work a day job 8-6 5 days a week, and then "work" in my studio 7-10 every night. Weekends are eaten up with sessions and gigs. I have literally no time just to sit and relax and collect my thoughts, and almost no time to spend with family or significant other. It all feels incredibly stressful, but I know that as soon as I have half a day to myself I won't know what to do. I'll be sitting there on the settee, TV remote in hand, looking from the TV to my bass or guitar and back... I mean as unhealthy as it feels when you're living it, it's nothing compared to the sense of emptiness when you stop!
Kudos to this man.
10.
Very insightful feedback there.... can't help but wonder how many of you are Librans Efficiency is the key it seems. Oxford English definition of a musician right there.... I really admire your productivity... 'behind every great man' ... That's a tough decision... risk could pay off but it's quite a long time to be at sea, especially if you somewhat like your current job.
Your right it is. But it's something not only myself has put a lot of hard work into. And I would not like too say no, and have them go through the nightmare of getting a new bassist to learn over 200 songs. I think I am going to go for it, it'll just be a scary couple of months/years. I'll hate myself if I don't give myself the chance. At least I can say I gave it a shot.
11. It's hard for me right now, I currently have a full time job after graduating and have my own home with a partner of 8 years. However my function band is gaining more and more gigs and are practically playing every weekend (weddings, events e.t.c). It's getting hard to balance my life at the moment, learning 2 songs a week, rehearsing once a week and gigging once/twice a week! We've been offered cruise work for late this year/early next year but I'm going to find it tough giving up a full time, safe job, for possible a 6/8 month contract away and not get any more. Some days I think is it all worth it, but the minute I'm on stage this all changes and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world.
12. I use set list maker and use this for my shows and all my music. I can upload PDFs or documents and upload them next to the appropriate song. With the correct chords it also allows me to change keys e.t.c
13. Mine changes daily, however today's would be: Vocals: Sam Cooke Rhythm Guitar: James Hetfield Lead Guitar: Clapton (from 60's - 70's - not safe boring Clapton) Drums: Levon Helm Bass: Rick Danko Piano: Stevie Wonder Organ: Steve Winwood My vocalists generally change to Cat Stevens and Steve Mariott
14. Played at Bush Hall in Shepards Bush last night. Fantastic venue and the crowd were awesome.
15. Got La Bellas on my hofner and epiphone and i love them.

17. How long is your set Les? We manage around 20 songs each set, but still only comes to 1 hour. NYE we've got to stretch it out to at least 2 hours 30! Guess we'll do a long encore ha!
18. Should be going. The lineup blows Download out of the water i think. Although, after going to all of the Soni's and the last 10years or so of Download, it's hard not to be bored by the lineup.
19. I will check them apps out! Basically it's not only for a setlist. It's mainly for my notes and lyrics. With a 150 song rep im struggling to remember which songs are in which key and the lyrics. I plan on buy the hercules stand as well!
20. Hi guys, I hope this topic is in the right forum. Finally getting the new iPad this week with the intention of buying it for when im on stage. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of the Set-list apps? Basically I would like the app to ideally be able to do a number of things:

Connect to my Dropbox
Open PDF's
Create setlists allowing me to edit timings and chord charts
Add lyrics to songsheets
Basically I will have this on stage, so I can see the set-list, then I would like to be able click on each song and that will open a new page with lyrics, chord changes and any notes I would like to add. Eventually we want to try this for Rockeoke as well. Any recommendations would be fantastic!! Many thanks.
21. Really interested in these, yet Squire have just released a version for only £270
22. Have you got the eBay link?
23. Watch any Vintage Trouble gig and we pretty much do the same as that. I can't keep still for longer than 2 seconds. Im constantly moving, grooving, foot tapping and rock 'n' rolling.
24. Another Wedding on Saturday, was weird, everything was running late, food arrived late so we didnt want to go on till everyone had eaten. Ended up going on around 11pm and just played 2 hours straight. Stage was great as well as the lights that the dj provided. Yesterday was a Bank Holi BBQ for a pub, good pay for a pub, and always a lively bunch, however people got arsey when we finished our song as they wanted more. Can never please people.
25. Played there a couple of times, although we had to cancel our last gig last minute which didn't go down to well.....
