  1. That just made me 'LOL' and scare the shoot out of everyone on a very quiet train! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  2. I was just thinking yesterday that maybe an upside to the current state of our country and the tough times no doubt ahead, will hopefully be that we'll get some great new meaningful bands arising from the debris.
  3. I love playing along to The Free Design 😊
  4. Yes I only heard this a couple of years ago! Always did wonder what happened to it after seeing them writing it on Funky Monks. I can understand why it wasn't on BSSM as it sounds more like a Mother's Milk track to me. Pretty darn classic all the same!
  5. Rules schmules. Choonz iz choonz n'at init.. Was it SA that John was heavily into Brandy? Not the alcoholic beverage by the way. Or was it By The Way? If you catch my drift..
  6. πŸ˜‚ No by me I meant! Nos da brawd.
  7. Cheers for that! Funny you didn't mention the only one that I can remember liking πŸ˜‚ Nice one for Fortune Faded too, I'd forgotten about that song. They did a great live version of that when I saw them in Cardiff. 2004 I think it was.. A Spotify playlist needs to be constructed methinks. πŸ‘
  8. Just following on from the Frusciante Rejoins RHCP thread but thought my question for the BC Chili heads would be better off in a separate thread. It's kinda surprised me how many people have said they really liked Stadium Arcadium. I bought it at the time, listened through a couple of times and never felt compelled to go back. I think Ready Made stood out though. Most people agree it's way too long with filler though and "if it was half as long it would have been one of their best" Soo, if you could cut half the album away what tracks would you keep? I wonder if people would mostly agree or would it be a different edit for everyone?
  9. Yes he played on most of the Amputechture album. You seen this? Flea, John and Omar from The Mars Volta giving it some. Flea's stamina here is quite astonishing considering how hard he plays!
  10. Yep, for a ton used nothing would beat a Yammy RBX170. Saw one go for 67 quid on ebay last week actually.
  11. I remember watching this when it was first aired! First time I'd heard of them and so began a lifelong love affair.
  12. I think Josh has done an amazing job with the Chilis, especially considering he thinks of himself as a drummer first. I love The Getaway and thought at the time they had indeed gotten away with it at last (losing John). I also think Josh's vocals complement Anthony's voice better than John's did. Live, the Flea/John improv magic was definitely conspicuous by it's absence so looking forward to their telepathic connection again. I'm really excited about John's return. Mega excited! I just hope Josh is ok and has been treated fairly in this as he was, to me, a bona fide Chili Pepper, way more than just another stand in. Without Josh I doubt there would even be a group for John to come back to.
  13. Well done for not doing the gig. I certainly wouldn't want that weighing on my mind over Christmas and New year. You will find another, better, gig soon I'm sure. Good luck!
  14. Davie bought a set of BEAD Rotos off me to send to his friend overseas. Great chat to and fro on PMs again. Deal with confidence as Davie is a good guy and a credit to Basschat.
  15. I sold the above tuners to Dom, great transaction and again lovely bloke on the coms. Thanks mate!
  16. Francis bought a pickguard from me, paid instantly and was great throughout. Lovely bloke. Thanks!
  17. Discreet's (originally) Limelight Jazz. '62? The really aged oly white/spitfire tort one. Can't find a piccy sorry as they've gone I think. A work of art that one and the first bass that came to mind. Maybe a BCer still owns it?
  18. I'd get stuck in and enjoy the challenge. Go for it.
  19. Absolutely! I used to be proud of myself in music school for being able to name really odd time signatures instantly, much quicker than my fellow students (I had to take pride in that really as I was crap at the rest of it's academia due to not being able to focus for long. I got bored REALLY easily.) Years later I realised that it matters not a jot what you can count, if you can verbalise it it makes much more sense. The old 'if you can say it you can play it'. If you're not reading charts then to hell with it! The music will flow better and be more organic if you're not summing up the math the whole time. I find it really interesting just listening to others in conversation. Not to what they're saying but how what they're saying is rhythmically phrased. You can get some cracking and strange groove ideas from this kind of thing, and it's all around us all the time! πŸ‘ I realise it's this kind of thing and thinking that Frank Zappa was on to DECADES ago. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ€˜
  20. Yes, what a stunner! I used to gig a '62 Custom Shop P and it was a better bass than most of the 'real' ones I've played. They seem pricey but in my experience worth every penny. GLWTS.
  21. I think it might be an Ibanez Super P as found in the Blazer and Roadstar basses. Very Dimarzio and very good.
