1.
Good afternoon, Andy... Not so, I fear. Have a read through the User Manual, here... L2000 User Manual... ... You'll see that the USB can be switched to be either the Main Stereo O/P or the Aux 1/2 O/P; in no case can it be the individual channel strips. It's a useful feature, certainly, as one can mix differently (using Aux 1/2...) to the Main mix, for recording, but one cannot re-mix the individual channels afterwards in Reaper etc. Just thought I'd mention it. It may not be a deal-breaker, but thought you should be aware. Hope this helps. PS: The Behringer X32 will do all you want and much, much more, but costs much more (~£2000...)
I also read that so I emailed Samson to clarify: "Hiya Joe, Sorry to labour the point (again) but I want to be absolutely clear as even Allen&Heath don't have this feature so I'm delighted but surprised... if we have 16 channels of instruments/mics/etc being input to the xlr channels of the desk will we get 16 individual channels in the recording software via usb on the pc if we went for the L2000? ...if the answer is yes then it'll be ordered from Thomann this week! Sorry to bug you again but this is potentially the most awesome thing I've discovered this year! Also, is it compatible with windows 7 and 8? Thanks Andy" Response: "Andrew, Indeed it will! And Yup, compatible with both Windows OS. Regards, Joe Loechner Tech. Support" A previous question from me in the same vein: "Joe, Thanks for that, so, just for clarity, does it record as many audio channels as you have active or just a single channel for the whole desk output? i.e. how many audio channels can it simultaneously output to the recording software please? Thanks Andy" Response: "The audio channels you have active. Regards, Joe Loechner" I am still skeptical but following repeated reassurance from Samson tech support am willing to give it a go...and, under distance selling if it doesn't please me I can return it... I looked at the x32 and yep it's over 2k, it's also 'behringer' ...'shudders'!
2.
No suggestions really I'm afraid, but I'll be interested in how it pans out. I've just got a used Zoom R16 which I'm intending to use for a similar setup to yours, but haven't got a round tuit yet...
We've looked at replacing the recorder with a zoom h-4n which seems to be a good blend of features and value and would duplicate the current arrangement, problem with this would be that we haven't enough channels in our current small mixer to be able to add in all the bv's we're planning so we'd need a larger desk too which would be another couple of hundred so... we might as well look for a desk that can accomodate all of the xlr inputs we could possibly need, can provide phantom power for the condenser mics and can also provide output via usb to a laptop of one virtual channel for each active channel on the desk... we found one! The Samson L1200/2000/... apparently (Samson tell me) that the usb will send a recorded channel for each active channel strip on the desk through the usb to whatever recording software is on the laptop/pc. This is a massively useful feature as mixing can be done after the event in reaper/cakewalk/cubase/whatever... the alternative was a more expensive behringer desk that had less xlr inputs but could record straight to a usb stick, it has some shonky reviews and is a lump more expensive so we ditched that idea... Hopefully I'll be ordering an L2000 in the next week or so and will do some testing at home before trying it out at a practice
3. the mxr bass compressor is excellent, it's got the right collection of controls and display to do a reasonably proper job for a stompbox without spending loads of money
4.
Looks like this and off the bat no not including postage but everything is negotiable
...pm'd

8. up to press we've been using an old Boss BR-900C recorder set up as follows: lead vocal, acoustic guitar and kick drum going to a pair of front of house speakers via a small mixer electric guitar and bass unmic'd all speakers facing towards the singer so nothing behind him to cause feedback trouble pair of condensor mics one on left and one on right, both connected to the BR900 the results have been pretty good for such a simple set-up, certainly adequate for giving an idea of what we sound like... (see soundcloud link https://soundcloud.c...lroad_co/tracks) PROBLEM the recorder is aging and not very gracefully so we may have to replace it soon and the replacement in the boss catalogue only has one phantom powered input... suggestions that won't break the bank but would still allow us to continue recording more-or-less as we are?
9. the 115 is magic! it's got a huge sound and really good clarity for a 15! nice amount of top too, sounds pretty good with slappy stuff in an old school way, really pleasing! I love my obc115!!
10. this the boy? http://www.bss.co.uk/en/products/ar-133 looks suitably tank like in build, gets excellent reviews on thomann!
11.
I just want to make it clear that everyone in Kit's band has a day job, including Kit. None of us is involved in music for the money, we are in the band (and other bands) because we are passionate about music. Of course most of us would love to make music our sole source of income, but I think we all want to be in a successful band, rather than the session/teaching/cover band/pit gig route.
sad to hear of the band's demise nige, I've enjoyed hearing about Kit and seeing the youtube bits & bobs, sorry I never got to the smoke to see you guys play
12.
MoJo has just kindly rehomed my vortex flanger, very easy transaction, payment straight away, let me know when it arrived...perfecto! cheers buddy
...and I've just rehomed his MXR Phase 90, very swish transaction, spot on, cheers buddy!
13. tempted to gratuitously add a second OBC115 to my rig for additional hurting of punters! would you consider splitting the OBC115?
14. 200w, all valve, gain, volume, no other controls thanks, pair of 8ohm outputs and a 4ohm output on the back along with a line-out / di. wrap that up in under 20kg and I'm very interested in gigging a prototype with a view to buying a production model! I love my orange ad200b but the tone stack is permanently set to 12 o'clock as I like the sound of it set 'flat' so why not get shut of it and keep the tone interruptions to a minimum
15. not if the exact sound you want is the sound of an all valve rig, modern digital/solid state/etc stuff sounds good (if you like it) but not the same at all
16. displeased in the extreme to have had to miss it at the last minute! I'll be there next year!!
17. just bought Dunc's collection of adaptors, very very simple transaction, all over and done in about 5 minutes! posted when he said he would, all arrived in perfect order. recommended. cheers bud

19.
You listened to it, and you survived btw, there is no octave. That is the sound of it right there. Totally untweaked. " Recorded" on garageband. I've still got a long way to go recording wise.
huge and round and beautiful sounding! I have dabbled a bit in recording but quickly got hacked off cos I could only get sterile sounding noises with my basic kit (search for andydye on soundcloud), not over keen... recording my bass is simpler nowadays as it's live in a room and recorded by 2 condenser mics into a digital recording thingy (search for the_fargo_railroad_co on soundcloud). I love your bass and dearly wish I had £1700 cos it'd get gigged through my all valve orange rig!
20.
I have got a recording of it on soundcloud. Go to mellowcat( my username ),and look for telecaster on the bed sheets (yeah I know .. The birthday? Haven't had time to look. Yet cheers
http://soundcloud.com/mellowcat-1/telecaster-bass-and-drum-loop sounds fairly immense mate! Apart from the slight grind and the cheeky octaver is the bass fairly untweaked?
21. ...and have you got any recordings of it please?
22. did you ever get anywhere with trying to pin down its birthday matey?
23. that looks amazing mate! a superb p with a great story behind it
24. the old rule of thumb was along the lines of twice the power of the guitarsits amp wasn't it? so if they've got 100w marshalls type thingies then a 200w bass amp (all valve of course) would be sufficient? a similar rule of thumb between all valve and solid state bass amps is you need 10x the power to get a similar volume with solid state yes? did I read those somewhere? happy to be wrong but I do know that my 200w orange is a sh*t load louder than the 900w genz I had! and is similarly louder and fuller than the LMIII I do have...
