the 835 is of roughly equivalent quality to an sm58 but with a much more even response (none of that mid hump you get from an sm58) whereas the 825 occupied a lower position in their range.
The 845 is nicer still, the 855 is my favourite non condensor (no longer made though) and the 865 is proper nice!
Enjoy dude!
Try not to drink too much beforehand cos your bass ain't gettin' drunk with you and you'll suck! I have no more than 1 beforehand as that loosens my stage moves a tad but doesn't feck my fingers
Gav has kindly rehomed my Mono m80, excellent comms as ever (he works odd shifts but always gets back to you as soon as he can) and paid exactly when he said he would.
top chap, good buddy, recommended
oo I've been interested in one of these for a while! trade with cash my way for my MIM FSR J bass? (I'm in Sheffield too)

I'll take that as an offer for me to try them, rather than just showing off ;-)
Thanks very much

indeed matey, you'll be welcome to have a tinker with them

That would be great Alan, I'm really keen to try out your filter preamps, and perhaps get some advice on how easily one would fit in my bass.

I should be there and will be bringing my pair of acgs, one custom 5 with filter pre and one graft fretless 5 with east pre along with my ead 212 cab

Ahh that's a bit tempting then. But so is that metallic blue one, oh and this US one http://basschat.co.uk/topic/230017-fs-fender-american-special-jazz-bass-2010-blackmaple/
So many options.
I may well be getting back to you though as I'm after a sunburst and this isn't far off.

happy hunting buddy, there's a lot of choice at the moment
I'd consider a trade for a cheaper p bass with cash my way...

Is the metallic very noticeable? The metal flake is the only thing putting me off here.

it's pretty subtle from a few paces away, it's only up close that you can really see

This can only be used with usb powering it, ie I couldn't use it on it's own for a live situation?
[/quote]
oo interesting question, I'm not really sure, it is definitely usb power only but the cable is a standard usb2 on the computer end so I wonder whether a usb power adaptor type converter like you have for phone chargers nowadays would do the job of providing the power for it and then you've got a very mini mixer type thing with midi capability...?

Hey
We're really looking forward to this!
We'll be coming along with Drew from Manchester Bass Lounge so we'll have his stock of Alpher basses (including the one that's just been reviewed in the latest issue of BGM) and hopefully a few more.
Can't wait to meet you all!
Cheers

Two pubs of choice this year. With the increased numbers wanting to go we have The Stag and The Balmoral to try out. As to the malts no idea I am afraid.
Also need to add there will be a demo played by Colin Cunningham from Cocosbassment along with his tame drummer.
Also the guys from Alpher Instruments will be on hand for all things bass related.
