  1. As impedance varies with frequency I suspect it's something to do with the fact that one speaker is full range and the other isn't. Speaker impedances are only a nominal figure anyway and since changing between series and parallel speaker connection must change the crossover wiring, that could be the reason for the odd published impedances figures. Does that make any sense? Frank.

That's a thing of beauty. Frank.
  3. I don't know what they cost in Canada, but at the UK price, they should give you a spare one with it. Frank.
  4. After setting up the PA etc my hands feel grubby so I always wash before playing. I also wipe down the neck and fretboard at the end of a gig, but not any other parts of the guitar. So, only slightly OCD. (Although I'm wary of other players using my bass at a jam in case they've had a pish, (or worse 😕) and not washed their hands. Frank.
  5. A can of worms is right. The Peavey miniMax is cheap as chips and an excellent gigging amp. Another is the Quilter BB800, also sensibly priced. I'm happy gigging either through Barefaced BB2, Super Midget, or both together. I don't find the sound suffers at all from being class D amps and neo speakers. Then again, I worked for well over 40 years in heavy industry so my hearing might be shot. Frank.
  6. EBS Reidmar 750. It's a great amp that always seems to be overlooked. Frank.
  7. After all that effort, you deserve it. It looks sublime. Frank.
  8. It's a breath of fresh air to have real engineering knowledge and experience. Frank.
  9. My Fender tweed instrument cable must be at least 5 years old. It's been gigged several times a month for that time and hasn't failed so far. I do always carry a spare though. 😉 Frank.
  10. What a beautiful instrument. This will sell very quickly methinks. Frank.
  11. Welcome to the forum Tony. Whereabouts in Ireland are you? I'm in Belfast and I think used gear is cheaper here than in ROI. I don't have any gear I want to sell but I'm going to suggest buying locally on gumtree or facebook. Adverts.ie is another sales site. Some useful facebook groups: https://www.facebook.com/groups/bassplayersni https://www.facebook.com/groups/Bassistirelandclassifieds https://www.facebook.com/groups/737668392933774 I'm sure there are many more. I hope you get sorted quickly. Frank.
  12. I had an Italian Markbass head fail. The repair was going to be so expensive that I decided to scrap the amp and buy a replacement from a different manufacturer. Frank.
  13. Very interesting and welcome to the forum. Frank.
  14. Thanks for the review. It certainly sounds great through my headphones. Nice playing too. Frank.
  15. It looks bloody brilliant. Well done! Frank.
  16. Ibanez Talman series. Excellent quality, feel, playability, sound, weight and balance and looks. We're talking £150 new. 😲 Frank
  17. I enjoy pub gigs far more than the function and weddings gigs we do. Festivals are great too, although less frequent. Wedding gigs are the least enjoyable for me, and the hardest work, longest hours, most pressure and the least rewarding. So yes, I'd take the pub gig every time. Frank.
  18. All good points and I agree. I've been in that situation where your rear port is blocked because of being too close to a wall or pub bench seat. And... band members throwing their coats behind my rear ported cab. Apart from those real-life situations, front or rear porting makes no difference, except when it does. Frank.
  19. I just been given a loan of a ukulele from a neighbour. I played guitar for at least 15 years before moving to bass guitar, so I'm finding it quite easy to pick up ukulele. These are great fun instruments. Frank.
  20. And welcome to the forum TobyC. Frank.
  21. I watched that "Shaving Ryan's Privates". Was that filmed in your village too? Frank.
  22. I don't think it makes any difference, front or rear port. Unless I'm missing something with these particular cabs? Frank.
  23. Am I the only one to smell a rat here? Apologies to the OP if I'm wrong and being overcautious. Frank.
  24. SNAP!! I had that too. It sounded fantastic but the physical size mismatch made me ill eventually. Frank
  25. I'd get the additional cab and leave the amp as-is. If you don't like it, then change the amp. I don't think you'll hear any difference in volume between the 500w and 800w amps though. Frank.
