Insufficient strings. And, if I were to be really picky, too many headstocks.

When you eBay drunk…make lemonade (DIY defret)

Just a little additional note - holding down the strings at the 1st fret and the last fret and taking measurements isn't easy [1]. Get a cheap guitar capo and use that to hold the strings down at the first fret, then holding the string down above the last fret is easy and you have one hand free to use feeler gauges, business cards, etc. [1] My emergency system for doing it is left hand finger (any) holding string at first fret, right elbow on string above last fret, use finger of right hand to tap on string and see if it is just a bit above the fretboard. But that's only if I haven't got a capo.

Two things to bear in mind: Barrel jacks are consumables As a consequence of 1, make sure it's as easy to replace as possible. Soldering to the terminals while it's in place is almost certainly going to be a PITA, so see if you can pull it out far enough to unsolder and solder it from the outside, and if not, extend the leads sufficiently that you can (making sure to use some heatshrink to insulate the joins). When you do this, DO NOT FORGET TO THREAD THE NUT ONTO THE LEADS!

How well did it wear?

Yes, 4-pole. Genuine Neutrik plugs fit nicely. Even if you wanted to replace the sockets with genuine Neutriks, the plates themselves cost £4-80 and up from Ebay sellers, so the sockets are not just free, they're paying you to take them.

How would we find the time to scour the marketplace, Ebay, and Gumtree?

Warwick Thumb NT 5 in a similar stand - 44.6 of those quaint inch things, or 1132mm in proper.

Entering the 2023 gear abstinence thread in 2024 is cheating.

It does have fine tuners on all four strings which is nice. I keep being tempted but I'd rather have a viola.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315056807149 and others - just search for "electronic wind instrument", filter on location and sort on price.

For anybody thinking of building a cab or upgrading the connectors to Speakon, I found this on Ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165973127947 Two connector plates, each taking two Speakons, plus four Speakon sockets. All for under a tenner.

The Sugababes band was good. I thought the Sugababes themselves were completely uninspiring.

Wait and see what it's like at volume before deciding if you need to do something about the preamp. Can you switch between active and passive?
-
Just get shot of the separate effects and use a multifx, the effects will all be in the right state when you switch it on.

I'd like to have a go at building a Pi-Stomp. V2 kits are all gone (and they don't appear to sell just the PCB) but V3 (including Pi5 support for @SamIAm) is coming in a couple of months: https://www.treefallsound.com/2023/11/28/v3-is-coming/

Most of the music played on the Hootenanny would have been a bit dated 60 years ago.

Not a good singer but fitted well with the Faces, and the guest vocal he did for Python Lee Jackson.

I'm in for the Tier 1 challenge. I know I'm going to fail Tier 2 as I'm after a MIDI controller keyboard. Might be worth a reference to the rules:

December 13th this year. It's probably being recorded closer and closer to NYE as the risk of one of the coffin-dodging guests popping off between recording and broadcast steadily increases. Rod Stewart - hated him doing swing. Maybe he can't rock it up any more. Joss Stone - irritating voice. Olivia Dean and Raye - sang well. Not my cup of tea musically but I can cope for one night. The Mary Wallopers - bit of a Pogues tribute but fun. PP Arnold, Ruby Turner, and Paul Jones - still able to sing. Muireann Bradley - good. Sugababes - forgettable crap pop. I put the sound through the hi-fi which does bass pretty well, and there wasn't much there. Could just about make out the Mary Wallopers bassist as she played a couple of well-fitting bass lines, occasional bits of Dave Swift, and the Sugababes' bassist (although that might have been him in unison with a keyboard).

The singer/guitarist for my former band stopped after suffering crippling anxiety, so that band wound up in 2021. However, he has recovered somewhat and started doing open mic nights. I'd encourage you not to sell everything, at least not straight away.

The only slight drawback is that with the neck strap button in the standard position, it tilts forward somewhat. I've seen a mod which was to move the strap button to the equivalent of the end of the top horn and some day I'm going to do this.

The Continuing Story of Problem Bandmates.
tauzero replied to Chienmortbb's topic in General Discussion
Oh. I assumed that it was a rehearsal that this happened at when you said that he told everyone when you played a bum note. -
I was going to suggest something not dissimilar to these two - see if anybody from the current band wants to start a parallel folk band and split her off into that. Alternatively, find some songs that fit both her voice and your band.
