  1. My guess is that the OP isn't going to be going to a jam night near you in the near future.
  2. I have the other Lekato strap: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LEKATO-Adjustable-Acoustic-Electric-Included/dp/B088613TDF/ref=sr_1_5
  3. That sounds a reasonable set of strings to use - scale length is about 4/5 the scale length of a standard guitar so tension using the topmost four strings would be rather slack, heavier strings (ie the lower strings) would bring the tension up. It pretty much corresponds to sticking a capo on fret 5 on a standard guitar and using the middle 4 strings, so it's whatever strings you'd feel comfortable with doing that with.
  4. Open jam =/= open mic.
  5. The MS60B allows you to cycle through patches with the footswitch. You can put as many patches on the list as you like.
  6. What good will that do? A typical open mic may or may not have a bass amp, if there is one it's going to be something that the organiser doesn't mind having any old hack bassist thrashing through.
  7. Yes, as long as I supervised them plugging in. It was easily loud enough to compete with the PA they were using. But as I was the only bassist, it didn't matter.
  8. Not far from Hawes and the Wensleydale diary.
  9. One of our guitarists won a Les Paul from there. He was a bit wary, but it turned up - very nice too, must have failed Gibson QC due to not having anything wrong with it.
  10. The bridge position looks like it's straying close to MDP territory.
  11. I watched a bit of it. Did absolutely nothing for me, but that's the music rather than the performance.
  12. Not to mention the soundman giving you the "get your foot off my f*cking monitor" mix.
  13. I've just knocked up a CV sequencer (awaiting a breadboard to accommodate the ESP32 a bit better than the lashup I currently use) which uses a rotary encoder for parameter selection and input. That might be an alternative to your menuing system using a keypad.
  14. I'm in Staffordshire, less than a kilometre from Warwickshire, and maybe 10km from West Midlands. None in any of those (nor Derbyshire, Leicestershire, or Nottinghamshire). You'd think that the UK's second largest city might have the occasional gig.
  15. Just dug out a contract that the ceilidh band I was in used to use. Names redacted to protect the guilty. This was, incidentally, in a nice Word document, rather than jus a text file.
  16. ESP32s give you much more space to code in, plus they're probably cheaper than Arduino Unos and also let you have wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. I love them.
  17. I've got a feeling that I got some from Bass Direct for a preamp that had a 4/6mm shaft. I couldn't swear to it though.
  18. I use a Tecamp Puma 900 with a 100W BC micro cab for open mic nights. No problems.
  19. In my case, it's not exactly manky - I just can't get the lustre on it that I can on the fretted Thumb. When I polish them (not often as I don't use them much these days), I use the Warwick lemony fresh stuff applied with some kitchen towel then polished off with a duster.
  20. One of the cases I found when searching for that was this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404421009719 The small case should do the job nicely.
  21. I am making progress in my own steady way. Today wasn't the ideal day to be outside cutting 22cm lengths of pipe for the ports. As the cutout for the speaker was a bit big and so the fixing holes were precariously close to the edge, I glued in some short lengths of reinforcement and then drilled for T-nuts. Remembering what had happened with the BC 112, I checked that all the T-nuts threaded up, then put them in place and tightened with the speaker in place so that if any finished up slightly skewiff they'd still go in. Still to do - put in wadding (on its way), glue in ports, put top on, round corners off, filling and sanding, and covering - I have a good-sized piece of leatherette left over from the BC micro cab which I'll use for that. Plus cut grille to size, put connector panel in, wire up speaker and put that in. Reinforcements and T-nuts placed ready for initial tightening: Box with bottom attached: Inside view:
  22. This chap doesn't appear to be delusional about the quality of what he's turning out though, and the pricing is realistic.
  23. I've seen mention of the Mazeti bass that was the unwilling donor for this on BC before, but I couldn't find a picture of the headstock to see how Mazeti originally strung it. Looks like it was available as a single cut and a double-cut, before this, the unkindest cut of all. Nice to see he hasn't abandoned his dangling bridge approach.
  24. A lot of it is down to the self-confidence of the musicians involved. My current band are improving in that respect, but I've been in bands where they've felt the need to rehearse every week whether there's new material to be learnt or not, even when they were gigging a couple of times a month.
  25. Anyone with an older Q2n (not the Q2n-4K) who wants an official Zoom case for it can find it at Gear4Music for the princely sum of 99p. That's a bit better than the £35 or so it'll cost you elsewhere. https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Zoom-Padded-Shell-Case-for-Q2N/1W9V
