1. Sorry folks I missed paul jh's post. Yes it must have been 'Making Music' but I never used to keep stuff like that. I do have issue 1 of Kerrang at home somewhere, the 'heavy metal special' offshoot of Sounds which became a magazine in it's own right.
2. The used to be a free publication that was in a fairly large newspaper format but in colour and maybe glossy pages? that I used to pick up in Carlsbro Sound, might have been subsidised by them? I recall some decent articles in it, probably better than some of the stuff people pay money for now. I bet BRX remembers it, can't for the life of me remember the title.
3. How about a bit of Joni? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50zkUclo-cw
4.
I remember those, so depressing! Nothing worse than hearing some faceless session band kill a number you didn't want to hear by the original artist in the first place!
Oh I don't know, they had their plus points;
5. Another ELO offering but going further back that OOTB, I think anyone should hear 'Eldorado' at least once in their life. So here it is; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWFsd9ZNlaE
6.
We do 'love machine' at the minute, half way between their version and the Arctic Monkeys one.
Same here, been in our set 18 months or so, usually goes down well.

8. Getting very bored of doing 'Happy' now. We actually cut it shorter than the original as its so repetitive.
9. I passed on a couple of basses that I no longer needed to a niece when she got into bass playing, eventually forming a band with mates and did a plenty of gigs, went to see them once when I visited family up North. She eventually moved on to lead vox and someone else took over on bass, I suspect they also then 'acquired' the basses. Sadly she hasn't carried on with it and a few years later she's not involved with music at all. No idea if the basses still exist but I'll never need them back and they were heavy Fender copies that my back probably wouldn't want me going anywhere near now.
10. I always keep an iTunes playlist of whatever is in the current set plus any 'works in progress' so I can quickly get to them and jam along with them if I go a few weeks between gigs and need to sharpen up. I wouldn't particularly go out of my way to listen to most of the set for pleasure though. Never been in a band that had the required musicians to play a lot of the stuff I like and there wouldn't be much of an audience for it in any case, plus I probably couldn't play most of the basslines properly anyway!
11.
That's not fair. There's a bit of stylistic variety in their reportoire. They are all **** songs though.
I have the same problem with Elbow.
12. Well if you fancy a bit of Hungarian rock, why not? http://www.youtube....h?v=kD2e85e6vr8
13.
Being the geek wot I am I've ripped a cd with all the extended mixes and b-sides including the superb I'll Meet You In The Spring.
Always liked 'Vampires'. Was delighted when they actually played it live on the last tour I saw them with Dunnery.
14.
Really good But why are they dressed like Devo without their hats ?
I'm guessing they are emulating the removals guys from the Moving Pictures album cover.
15. The quality of acts on 'Bavaria's Got Talent' has just gone up ten fold.
16. Pub tells agent 'We want this band, if you don't sort it we'll just put them on ourselves and you get 0% comission'. It's the only language they understand.
17. Moondance. Trying to arrange a one-to-one lesson with Bilbo so I can nail it.
18. I'd go with a solid black scratchplate to match the other hardware, the pearl just doesn't look right against such a luminous colour.
19. Still very pleased with these; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coban-Guitars-DCG3-Bass-Guitar-4-Strings-45-105-Deluxe-Range-Great-ITEM-/161553961556?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item259d5dd254#ht_3977wt_1144 If roundwound steels are your weapon of choice they are well worth investigating.
20. Apparently, but Tony Blair seems to distance himself from it these days.
21. Welcome. Another to add to the East Midlands cabal, we're slowly taking over the place
22. Gov't Mule tend to go under the radar as they don't tour much in Europe but they've always had some quality musicians.
23.
Pomplamoose 2014 tour profits & expenses https://medium.com/@...ts-67435851ba37
We've been here before as well! ; http://basschat.co.uk/topic/250192-tour-expenses-interesting-read/page__hl__tour%20expenses
24. Saw him playing in a 2,500 venue and it wasn't full. Mind you it was 14 years ago. Maybe he's come full circle?
25.
I absolutely swear by my Hartke Bass Attack, its the best money I've spent in years! My sound is just incredible now and I wouldnt play without it.
They seem so ruggedly put together I'm not expecting mine to fail any time soon yet at the same time I wish I'd picked up the silver anniversary one, a couple of places were selling them at about £40 or something similar, bargain.
