1. There's this thread for starters: CLICK HERE And this one: CLICK HERE Well worth a trawl through and food for thought. Good luck! Jon
2. Nice one Clarky, enjoyed that!
3. Here's mine - A 2000 Les Paul Standard Bass:
4.
all fenders stink!
Of what? Have a bump for an awesome looking P bass.
5. One piece of advice I would like to add is that if you do go wireless keep a long enough cable in your kit bag incase it breaks down! Sounds bleedin' obvious but you'd be surprised! Regards, Jon
6. Thinking about it!
7. Expanding on the answer a little - IMO I would say a good gritty punk sound is achieved with: Pick>P bass>Overdrive Pedal>Amp. Lower mids turned up to suit the band. I use a MXR M80 for gritty sounds and find it sounds, and sits, really good in the band mix (but bizarrely doesn't sound too good when you hear it on it's own when practicing, but that's another story altogether ) Good luck! Jon
8. A course on general band recording and the equipment used to get good/industry standard results would be what I'm after.
9. One question - I see on the Mesa Boogie page for the 2x12 Powerhouse cab that it says 8 or 4 Ohm, which is yours? I ask as the M6 Carbine puts out 320 Watts at 8 Ohms so it may help you if yours is an 8 Ohm version and as Alex said try running just the 2x12 and adjust the EQ to get the sound you want with the 1 cab... Just throwing the idea out there and hope it helps?
10. Oh yes, right up my alley! What are you thinking of Rimskidog, a PDF download type effort or a series of posts? Cheers, Jon
11. Hi Fryer, Why not just try the 2 together first? They may well work, and sound, really good together as they are... Regards, Jon
12. Hi there, At work we use these headsets and they are exactly what you are looking for and they're a bit cheaper than you're expecting! Peltor Headsets Online supplier here Hope that helps? Regards, Jon
13. Hi BC'ers, Have a BUMP for my old bass. Just to confirm this thing sounds absolutely gorgeous, you won't be disappointed. Simon was a true Gent and offered me first refusal on the sale, as we agreed way back when, before listing it here. It's only lack of funds that stopped me! Cheers, Jon
14. That's just what I'd go for if I was getting a 5 stringer! Well done GW
15. oh wow that looks stellar Wes, well done.
16. Now there's a good idea. Shame I don't have the chops for something like this...
17.
...I love it when you see an advert worded " mint condition apart from the usual wear and tear associated with gigging, a couple of dings and bumps". Mint is mint, a dinged and bumped bass isn't mint.
A bit OT but that winds me up too!
18.
It's ten minutes down the road from me. Shall I try to go & have a looksie?
LOL, Yeah why not!
19. Another big up for Barefaced from me. I run 2 Compacts with a Markbass SA450. It's a very light stack and can really crank it out if need be.
20. Hey coop, Try not to get too frustrated here! The general thinking is that use what you like, as long as the Ohm ratings match, and use your ears to tell if it's not working out. e.g. you plug your 500W amp into a 300W RMS cab and it farts out when you boost the bass too much. Just back it off until it doesn't fart out. Hope that helps, Jon P.S. Alex's Barefaced tech notes are just what you need to read: CLICK HERE
21.
... get another GS112
Would be my advice too if you want a bit more!
22. Understood. I would say the Matamp GT200 would be right up your street then! Cheers, Jon
23. So a quick follow up. I got the tuners this morning and the seller de-valued them which meant they came straight through with no charges. A nice, and unexpected, little bonus! Now the serious bit of getting the tools out and having a go at changing the tuners. Cheers, Jon
24.
If you already have a 200w slave, maybe just get a preamp...
A good idea right there.
25. Have a read through Alex's great page all about it: CLICK HERE
