The only Fender Custom Shop '62 Precision I've seen that is closet to your JJ P is this one in New York at $4k... http://www.themusiczoo.com/product/956/Fen...ion-Bass-Relic/ At today's exchange rate and factoring in imoprt duty, vat + handling charges and that's something like £3,100. Cheers, Jon

I tried one at New Kings Road Vintage Guitar Emporium a few years ago. It was an ex-Bob Daisley example and was up for £2,000. Hope that helps? Cheers, Jon

I can't help you with your amp question but make sure the generator is properly earthed. You'd need to look it up and take advice on what is 'properly' but it is a life saving necessity.
Was looking for a precision pickup to replace my stock fender one. Was looking into Seymour duncan and wizard pickups. Was wondering which one is good? Seymour Duncan SPB3, Wizard Trad or Wizard Thumper? I play classic rock, indie stuff and gospel.
Hi BB'84 The S.D. SPB3 sounds more like the Wizard Area 51 Stealth than the other Wizard's you list. I've had both the A51 & SPB3 in the same bass so can speak from experience. Andy from Wizard's desciption is bang on for his Area 51 -
A new type of P Bass pickup for players who want a little extra presence but who want to keep it simple. We've taken a conventional pickup and transformed it into a whole new beast, with the same size and format it will retro-fit into 99% of instruments. Using our principle of keeping it simple, The Stealth is a passive pickup that verges on giving the same volume as an active. We use radical, slightly oversize, new black magnets, special windings and our own bobbins and aged covers to produce a stunningly special pickup. The Stealth has a full range of tones, bassy and deep right through to crisp and bright, this makes them suitable for most styles of music, all provided with a little more, imagine a standard pickup on steroids!! So no batteries, more power and easy installation.
If you want the traditional P sound then go for the Wizard Trad... Cheers, Jon
Remember though, if you send FOH a signal from your Sansamp but have your compressor in the chain after it, then your DI signal will be uncompressed. Personally I would go into the Polytune first, then the Compulator and then the Sansamp. You can mute both your DI signal and your line signal to your amp by stepping on your tuner whereas if you had the tuner after the Sansamp you would always be heard through the PA no matter what (so if you change basses this will eliminate any popping coming through the PA and would allow totally silent tuning of course) and your signal will have the same original compression through both your amp and the FOH.
The FOH man may not want an already compressed signal as it may not mix in very well and then he is stuffed from making the band sound the best it can...

You could put in your own short right angled XLR cable that can then be connected to the house XLR cable?

Actually cancel all that! Bareknuckle pickups now sell CTS 'super pots' and Jensen caps at a good bit cheaper! Here's the pots: POTS Here's the caps: CAPS Cheers -

Or see if any other BC'ers want to do some kind of job lot? There may even be an American or Canadian BC'er willing to buy and forward on? Cheers -

I don't think anyone sells them here. WD Music sell a few of the RS Guitarworks caps:CLICK HERE When I was after a kit I had to order direct. Be warned their P+P charges are quite a lot too - About $30 IIRC... Great stuff though, got the P bass kits in 2 of my basses now! Regards, Jon -

Hi Phil, Welcome and congrats on making the jump to bass, you won't regret it. You're right about the healthy amount of active BassChatters and opinions - There is a lot of them! Do look through the amps for sale section as you may just find a good deal on an amp to suit you. It's a buyers market at the moment. See you around, Jon -
Lightweight = Lightsound? One of the finest examples ... of utter bollocks I've ever read on here.
+1 My MarkBass SA450 & 2 x Barefaced Compacts is as deep and powerful as any other comparable rig, if not more so. I started out with a Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ amp through a Mesa Boogie Diesel 2x15" (loaded with EV speakers) so know all about heavy rigs. Cheers, Jon
