1. Great bridge and a good price. Just as good (if not better IMO) than a Badass III Good luck with the sale.
2.
I notice on your gear list you have got a USA Lakland Bob Glaub . One of those would also be a viable alternative to a Fender C.S or Bravewood relic for Cameltoe in his quest for the ultimate Fender-style bass . They don't advertise it on their website , but I know Lakland will do an "inbetweener" Precision -style neck with the 1.625 nut width on request. on the USA basses They are very well- made and are comparable with Fender CS in terms of quality and attention to detail .
+1 to what you said there Dingus and it is my favourite P type bass bar none. My go-to bass in fact!
3.
Yes, I read your post whilst searching and to be honest, that's where my doubt lies. I've read his 12 month warranty on the website, it seems he bemoans the fact that vintage/second hand instruments are sold with no warranty so why shouldn't his. I have to say where yours is concerned, I'm surprised at the response you got. I can't say it doesn't cause me a bit of concern. I'm glad you finally managed to get it sorted. Besides the obvious bitter taste, now the truss rod rattle has been sorted how does it feel and play? As I stated in my first post, I know if somethings not right with the CS, a fault, or even if a part isn't how I described I wanted it, I'd have come back. I'm worried if the bravewood isn't quite right i'll be lumbered. It's a risk, but I'll have to think further before I make any decision.
The trouble is what he states about warranties is on seriously dubious legal ground, but that's another story. At least you have some other feedback to base your buying decision on, that's all I can offer. As for the bass itself - I have no idea what he done to the truss-rod to fix it as there was zero communications about it. The neck went off in a box for repairs and then came back with some signs of work at the truss rod end. That's it! Playing/setup wise all the credit has to go to The Gallery in Camden as I paid them to put it back together and do a full setup on it for me. It plays like a custom shop instrument as a result. I would suggest being patient and waiting for a used Bravewood to come up FS or try and find someone with one similar to what you are after and make them an offer! FWIW I also have 2 Fender CS basses - a NOS '61 Jazz and a Masterbuilt P/J and they are both fantastically made, looking & sounding instruments.
4. Just beware that if things go wrong with that brand of instrument maker in Redruth then expect no help from him unless you're prepared to do something like air the dirty laundry in public to get proper attention and a response/result. That's what I had to do to get my custom ordered £1,500 bass's manufacturing defect sorted. A sad state of affairs and I can not recommend them to anyone. A sour taste is putting it mildly. I feel more like smashing up & burning that bass most of the time rather than playing and enjoying it. My advice is go second hand and try the thing out first. That way you know what you are buying and you won't lose any value if you decide to sell it on. Good luck!
5.
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I was wondering if someone could help me out. Basicaly, tomorrow I'm planning to purchase a new amp, but I want it to work with my existing cabinet : Carvin RL410T (here's the datasheet of this specific model: http://www.carvingui...T_Datasheet.pdf). The amps I'm planning to test are: - Ampeg SVT 4 Pro (http://www.ampeg.com/pdf/SVT4PRO.pdf) - Ampeg SVT 7 Pro (http://www.ampeg.com...sw0787_revb.pdf) - Gallien Krueger 1001RB (http://www.gallien-k...II_700RB-II.pdf) I haven't got a great knowlege in amp sector, even though I was playing bass for many years I'm more of the power switch and volume guy. The cab has a power handling of 600 watts and nominal impedance of 8 ohms and i just want to make sure that whatever amp I'll choose, will work well with it. Obviously with the time I might consider upgrading the cab, but for the time being that's not on the menu. What I specifically don't understand is the RMS wattage. Taking the example of SVT 4 Pro, which has 350W rms @ 8 ohms on the power amp A and B. Does that mean that I will be able to use it with the Carvin cab and will I only get 350W of power or - is this going to be too much for the cab? As I said - I'm really new to all this and woud appreciate some help if possible. Thanks. Sebastian
I'm another that would echo the sentiment of just get the amp that sounds right for you and your music. It will be fine with your cab as long as you use your ears and listen for any farting/distortion which is a sign it's not happy and just needs some volume or EQ reduction. As mentioned before there's some great amps for sale on here and I would heartily recommend the Mesa Boogie M6 Carbine. Good luck!
6. The only ones nearest to Northwood I can think of are: The Sanctuary Studios on the Ricky/Watford borders - http://sanctuaryarto...om/?page_id=755 Or there's RnR Studios in Uxbridge - http://www.rnrstudios.co.uk/ Hope that helps? Cheers, Jon
7. I have a MB M6 Carbine and that is more what you're after I think. The 400+ amps are defo really clean amps and don't grit up easily, if at all. I had one for a number of years so know the beast well. There is a fellow BC'er selling a M6 Carbine for a stonking price on here at the moment that would be worth checking out...
8. Not got or use one of those but what about the new Kemper rack mount version with a 600W amp built in? That has caught my eye for double duties and Anderton's have them along with a link to theampfactory.com for studio quality profiles to buy.
9. Hello Trev, Welcome! Great looking bass rig and awesome user name you have there. Cheers, Jon
10. These vids are great Skelf, thanks for making them and sharing them with us all. I wish I had the space to set up a workshop and try to make an instrument!
11. I do like Metallica but the whole film thing has put me right off for some reason! A new album first would have been nice for me I think.
12. I've done the custom order thing a couple of times with different builders and wouldn't recommend it on the whole either. One was a massive tool with post purchase problems and the other didn't quite get it right with comm's, build or delivery times. I'm of Ped's thinking - Get a bass that's nearly what you want and mod it yourself to where you want it to be, even better order parts from Warmoth (other instrument parts companies are available!) and assemble it yourself. The satisfaction when it's all done is almost overwhelming.

14. I have, use and recommend the MXR M80 Bass DI+ for your needs. What I will say is that it doesn't sound very good when you use it with no other instruments in the room but in the band setting I find it perfectly cuts through with what you want. They can usually be had for a good price 2nd hand so worth a try as you can easily move it on if it's not your thing. Good luck!
15.
...BTW, Jon have you got your Bravewood in the BC marketplace?
Hi Sean, Not yet. I need to get some pictures sorted and will then get it up FS. Bluejay - Thanks for that ATB, Jon
16. Another big thanks from me to Colin, Nick and all who helped out to make it a great day and the best BassBash I have been to.
