Nice, you couldn't help smiling during that could you?
-
One of my favourite bands of all time too and one of my very early bass influences! I've somehow managed to miss all of their live shows since I last saw them supporting GnR in 1992-ish.

I also need to weed my garden!

Did mine and donated to a UK MND charity too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJauhJIxg-w
Hey, I appreciate your kind words. I left the band just after Christmas. I think there is still some stuff on soundcloud though. If you want them I'll upload the tracks to my dropbox.
If you could that would be grand, cheers mate! Just those two I mentioned would be cool.

Would love to hear some sound clips of your Nanyo with the Entwistles in it -
I've played one of these in my local PMT and loved loved loved it. Been gassing for one for ages now. Congrats!

Be careful when locking in with your drummer!

I've sat on one of mine whilst sitting down for a meeting at work. Try hiding that one. -
Very nice indeed! Although I'm not a huge Ric fan that's a mighty fine gift from your other half. On a different note, are your band still going? I've been a massive fan of a few of your tracks on Soundcloud and Spotify (From the Bones Out and Shadows) but they've gone now

Little update on my combo. I've fitted an IMG Stageline HT-30 Miniature Horn Tweeter as a replacement for the annoyingly hissy stock tweeter and it sounds really sweet still. I've also plugged in my Ashdown VS-112 cab as a second cab and it adds a really nice deep warm bassyness to the sound which I love. I have to be careful with the volume as the cab's only rated at 150w but I've not had the combo above 3 on the volume knob. The rubber on the handle is starting to wear a little and rip near the edges that feed into the black plastic. This is after a few months of very light use too which is disappointing but not the end of the world.

New Markbass cabs from the East? Anybody got them?
Mornats replied to karlfer's topic in Amps and Cabs
I bought a 121P combo this that turned out to be an Indonesian one. It's 12.5kg which was lighter than the 13.3kg specced on the MB website. My thoughts are here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/231484-nad-markbass-cmd-121p/ I can't compare it to the Italian made one as I've never played through one. The tweeter in mine did have that annoying hiss but that wasn't unique to the Indonesian ones. Anyway I fitted a replacement tweeter in it and the hiss is gone. -
I'm a sucker for a P/J sound myself. It's nice to be able to roll onto the P of roll back onto the J and get those sounds.

I didn't have time to leave comments on any of the tracks I'm afraid but I did have a listen and voted. Dad won it for as that track just matches the image so well.
I'm gonna definitely stick with this one, but what the hell can I buy her now to match this ;(

http://www.tiffany.c...spx?mcat=148203
"Guitarist or bass player wanted to play bass"
-
Cheers guys, that's what I thought - if I want a P/J I'll have to stick with my P/Js! Incidentally, my SB320 is a P/J with a lovely tone. However I'm very interested in a Kent Armstrong MM now - thanks Grangur, a more growly MM style could be just what I need. I could add a push/pull on the volume know to swap between the coils which would give me some versatility.
-
Hey, I've got a Dean Hillsboro SIngle bass that has a single MM style humbucker in the usual MM position. I'm not keen on the sound as I much prefer a P/J configuration but I do really like the bass. It's currently up for sale but if it doesn't sell I may change the pup in it and see if I can love it again. So can you recommend an MM style pickup that could do the P/J type of sound? I know that the EMG MMTW lets you coil tap the pickup which may be what I want but I'd like to explore other options or even be told that I'm crazy for wanting to get a P/J sound out of an MM pickup! The P/J sound I'm after is the sound you get when you centre pan the pickups so you get a bit of a scooped sound.

A way to get around the hyphens is to make a distinction in the type when you write it out. e.g: the60sexplosion.com. I'd go for the60sexplosion too, as Howie says, it's the name... Just be glad you're not called Pen Island... hehe.
-
Watch out for misinterpretations of the name - sixtie sex plosion comes to mind. Have you thought about using a hyphen to help break it up? Not only for the "sex plosion" reason but to make it easier to parse in general: sixties-explosion.com. If it helps my job title is User Experience Designer and I've dealt with this sort of thing for years

Has anyone ever taken a substantial break from playing?
Mornats replied to Veils's topic in General Discussion
17 year break for me which I thought would be the record here but clearly not! Finally got lessons this time round and I'm much better than I used to be although still a bit noobish. -
Markbass speaker cones - anyone ever painted them?
Mornats replied to Lozz196's topic in Amps and Cabs
Just paint the cab pink and you're sorted. -
I see Nevada have this on their website...described as a Contemporary Jazz, but the pics & description/spec are definitely Classic J. I wonder if this is what the OP has bought...? They also have this which is actually a Contemporary Jazz...
I own both and you're spot on. The P/J is the Classic and the soapbars one is the Contemporary. Both great basses, if a little large and heavy IMO. I find the sound from my contemporary (soapbars) to be fuller and beefier (it has thunderous bass) and the sound from the classic (P/J) is more of a classic sound. I actually love the Overwater strings so much that most of my other basses now have them on although I've gone for the 44-104 gauge on all but my classic J which has the standard .38-.98 strings on. I find the lighter gauge string to be a bit weedy really so I'll be changing those to the heavier gauge when they need changing. They're very very similar to GHS bass boomers in terms of feel, sound and how the brightness drops off (could possibly be the same strings rebranded).
