Hi folks,

I'm reluctantly selling my Overwater by Tanglewood Contemporary Jazz bass. The Overwater gumph is here: http://overwaterbass...by-tanglewood/.

It's in trans-black with a flame maple top and I can't find a mark on it. It's been open-mic nighted rather than gigged and used at home for practice and recording.

It's a "lightweight poplar" body, maple neck, maple fingerboard with pearl block inlays, a John East designed 2-band active EQ with a pull bright switch to give an extra few db at 5khz. The width at the nut is 38mm and the string spacing is 19mm. It weighs around 10lb 9oz so it's not a light bass but the solid feel to it gives a lovely sustained note when played. It sounds big especially when you push the bass pot up a little. It has a pair of Overwater soapbar pickups (humbuckers maybe?).

It's currently strung with Rotosound Nexus coated strings (45-105) which I'm personally not keen on. I can pop some old dying Overwater nickel roundwounds on (38-98) and I'll adjust the truss rod and action to suit if you'd prefer.

This is the bass I ended up with after going out shopping for bed linen. I spotted it in a music shop that I "just popped into" and ended up playing it for around 45 mins as I just loved the playability and sound of it. I hate playing in shops usually so that was a sign that I had to have it!

I'm selling it as I have 5 basses and it doesn't get played. I'm finding my lighter basses (SB320 and Yamaha TRBX) are more comfortable for my light frame. It's a gorgeous bass and I'd hate to let it go but it doesn't deserve to be sat in a case all day and night.

I'm looking for £300 for this, plus delivery. Local collection is preferred but I have a box at work with some good packaging but I don't have a hardcase spare to post this in. I'm based in Bristol and anyone is welcome to pop round and have a play and a cuppa with absolutely no obligation to buy. I've got other basses to play with too and I'll chat about bass all evening :)

Payment by bank transfer (or cash if you're picking up in person). I don't use PayPal for taking money sorry. I'll give you full contact details (email, mobile, home address) when we agree to a sale before you send any money over.

*cough* I have a white bass for sale: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/239287-dean-hillsboro-single-bass-l180/ :)

But yes, this is a nice one. Hate to let it go as it was my main recording bass for a long time and it looks great. It's not getting any time out at the moment as my SB320 is fantastic for both recording and playing live (lovely and light) and I also have an Overwater Classic J which has a nicely different sound to my other basses.

That wacky fellow has to be worth a punt at the price! I'd be on it but for the fact I've just sprung for a Limelight Jazz...
