[/quote] not necessarily bad as long as you did it precisley sort of and in good time so that the middle note is muted that way you hear the first and third note playing the octave and the middle note muted i do this on bad girls and hot stuff - try to get all three notes clean but usually the middle one comes out clipped - it just takes lots and lots of repetition to get it rolling off your fingertips accuratley

i had a brief dabble with a 6 but that doesnt count cos the higher string balances the other way and cancels out the low one

[/quote] i think these competitions need to be approached with practicality in mind - plenty of the designs on there are fine on paper but many people have overlooked obvious design issues (not least the dimensions stated on the brief) the fact they have stated 300mm square design area correpsonds directly to a budget they will be working to for the production of the t-shirts (hence my comment earlier on this thread about designs for two years olds being a direct reference to the dimensions of some of the designs) and colour too will affect the final choice - have kept it to one colour (blak on white or white on black) and the corporate rotosound orange - i would pretty much guarantee they will not go for anything multi-coloured because of production costs - screen printed or heat transfer printed can also have a bearing on the design choice- heat transfer print will not lend itself particularly well to to intricate fiddly designs thats just the basic production practicalities - then theres the design issues such as producing a full body wrap design which looks great on paper while not taking into account that you wouldnt be viewing the design as such because it will ultimately be wrapped around a semi-cylindrical body the only design dilema i had was whether to write Schwiiiing! or Schwing or Swingbass but chose Schwing eventually - the orange and the logo ties it in and swingbass is such a well known product that most bassists should make the connection (not sure about drummers though)

[/quote] +1 when you search to see whether a name you want is available the golden rule is not to type in the box which says CHECK HERE TO SEE IF YOUR DOMAIN NAME IS AVAILABLE if you do this then they will check it and if it is available you will only have a very limited time until it is magically sniped this is nothing new this practice has been going on for years - i discovered this mistake back in late 90s when searching for availability and the name had been bought within 24 hours - in the early days of the interwebs the sniping worked in everybodys favour so that joebloggs could register tescosupermarket.com and then attempt to sell it for a very fast and large wedge. More recently they have introduced rules on name registration that you can only register a name for a business if you can demonstrate connection or authorisation from that business. if you need to search whether a domain name is available best thing is to just type it into the address bar of your browser and see what results . whois search could also work but personally i wouldnt even trust that 100% but then i am a rather old and hardened cynic these days

Marcus if i manage to get over to the bass bash on saturday (work pending etc) i will bring a hydrive410 over so you can demo it (i dont think anybody on the list on the bass bash thread has listed any hartke gear)

is the hum constant all times or does it change when you touch strings or any other metal parts? is the jack fitting snugly into the socket could be an easy fix if its a loose wire or bad solder joint somehwere if you are confident to fix yourself otherwise back to the shop if all the control plate needs looking at and/or bridge plate might need lifting to check the ground contact underneath

ive never yet heard of a punter coming up at a gig and asking to see the back of an instrument to check for buckle rash and if they did would your bass skills diminish in their esteem if your bass was all scabby like?
