2.
We know Grangur, we know. I think people are winding you up a bit - there's no shortage of affection and respect for "the other Elvis" on Basschat.
Not the Chinese Elvish who used to have the restaurant the Old Kent Road ? ;-)
 3.
Just watched 'Totally British: 70s Rock' part one 1970-1974. Lots of old BBC sessions of SAHB, Heavy Metal Kids, Humble Pie, Family, Status Quo, Faces, Babe Ruth, Nazareth etc and there's hardly a worn guitar or bass in sight. Nearly every one looked as if it had just come out of a shop window. I can imagine the Beeb's dressing room floors were full of discarded Fender, Gibson and Ricky tags and hangers. I wonder what any of today's relicers thought as they sat in front of the telly watching this with their orbital sander by the side of their armchair?
none at last weeks south east bass bash either
 4. ah yes the imposter elvis who is this new pretender 'costello' of whom you speak?
 5. oh dear
 6. surprisingly its not that difficult to fret at first despite the excess height - i will take it down to about plastic card thickness and see how feels then - got a slight bit of relief in the neck at moment just enough im just in process of setting it all back up after hacking a millimetre or so out of the body to recess the baseplate of the bridge as i got one of those big thick gotoh 201 jobbies tried it with black nylons before and it sounded pants so ive just put a set of swingbass on and it is singing like a birdie even with a very basic set up and growling nicely when i want it to
 7. Is there such a thing as an ideal string clearance at first fret position on a fretless? ive just replaced a nut and setting it all up again and noticed it feels quite high at first - as a guage i can just get a 20p piece under the E at first fret thanks
 8. no slapping?
 9.
Hello and welcome, hope you enjoy being a Basschat member (and that you'll soon be offering free, all inclusive holidays to your homeland!!! )
yes preferrably south, little village near Uzes would be nice

 11. wow not everyday somebody offers to pay me well for just a few seconds of my time send him my way
 12.
Your being very generous to Geddy. His beaks like a the nose of an aeroplane & I'm a Rush fan!
im a rush fan too - i saw them at hammersmith odeon on the permanent waves tour - luckily i was about twelve rows back
 13.
Hmm This neck on the Squier VM 77 Jazz I'm selling would give me an instant Geddy Lee look for a fraction of the price
you could get this for £8.99 plus p&p runs quickly to avoid lynching by the rush fans
 14. the 40 speaker art installation thingy is a great idea only just recently stumbled across it i remember this from uni days when was in the 'big choir' and we did this - didnt appreciate it then at the time as much as i do now which is a shame as its not very often that any singer is fortunate enough to be in a choir large enough to do this - i do seem to remember though that this piece (and other similar plainsong style stuff) is actually more difficult to sing than one would at first imagine
 15.
Simply tell me what to do and I'll do it.
Sylvia , myself and i would guess many others on here would reiterate that you are doing a great job with this and carry on doing the best you can between the handful of you that are doing it with best intentions! what we surely dont want is for this all to start veering off on the direction of being organised by some democratic collective with everything being scrutinised and voted on otherwise we run the risk of suffering the "horse>>design>>committee>>camel" syndrome
 16. just to play devil's advocate for a moment - wasnt the whole purpose of this exercise to raise funds for charity by distributing the bass around random players up and down the country with the intention of it being gigged and then passed on to the next random gig? not to detract from all the fantastic hard work put in by Jim and Sylvia and Lars and everybody involved, but from a cynics point of view, the fact that some cleb bass player has signed it before/after a gig (but not played it) imho would most likely not increase significantly the donations made when it makes it's next random amateur/semi-pro gig appearance - we can only hope that the added publicity from the cleb endorsement will encourage regular punters to be generous to a charitable cause - if it only does this much then it wil have achieved something positive the cleb involvement is good for increasing its profile among bass players, particularly those who might not already be aware of it from basschat or facebook for example, but from a wider media persepctive the clebs will be getting as much if not more publicity being seen to be supporting some charitable cause - surely agents and PR for the clebs would not be doing their job properly if they didnt try and do this - and ultimately the end result should be money raised for charity and increase profile for bass everywhere its a difficult balance and i dont disagree with what you are doing Sylvia and hopefully you appreciate also that miserable old buggers like me have offered to host it at a gig several times and pass it on but not been able to because it is either already being gigged or having some cleb leave their mark on it so we just have to wait patiently until it passes nearby enough to go grab it for a gig and pass it on i guess the moral is we should have got in early before it got famous
 17.
Gypsy kings are okay up to a point.....
'after a certain point' i'd say the roots album when i twas released mid 90s was a departure from their commercial flamenco-pop songs back to their errr roots check the bass ... any clues??

 20.
Cheers guys, should have that bass in a couple of weeks. I never saw yours on the site Steve?
no me neither - maybe they thought it was a bit lewd??? i cant see how the waynes world owners would have all copy/media rights over the phrase 'schwing'
