Led zeppelin and black sabbath just dont do anything for me !
steve-bbb replied to gub's topic in General Discussion
I really don't understand the Bonham worshipping at all.
is understandable if you listen to his solos he is technically nothing that special and some of JPJ early basslines if you listen to them in isolation are a bit rough and ready, but... the chemistry between them was quite something else especially in a live setting i was fortunate enough to see them at knebworth 79 - a bizarre combination of some of the sloppiest guitar playing ive ever seen (courtesy of JP being stoned off his tits) backed by what i can honestly say was the most powerful and electric bass/drum performance ive ever seen - JPJ and JB might be nowhere near the top of their respective fields but imo their combined 'live' chemistry was a significant causal factor of the bonham worshipping -
Actually I like the idea of a J, but not that slope-y body. (Which I why I have a G&L JB-2.)
well in that case you need a TRB - still got the slope but not as steep as the J but certainly not flat like the P across the butt
-
next year maybe?
-
a casual glance through the thread would seem to infer that the the J is winning the day hoorah!
FWIW I have this exact same rig, and as you'd expect it's an absolute monster. The cabs are probably one of the most manageable 4x10's about and they sound great. If anyone is considering this rig, then just go for it, you won't be dissapointed. I thought about the Hydrive range for some time, and I'm so glad I went for it in the end. Best of luck with the sale mate.
+1 ... cant over emphasise how good the hydrive cabs are

maybe it slipped through the spell checker and they need to learn about the 'add to dictionary' option -

Caffe Americano in Swansea, Wales... terrible management :(
steve-bbb replied to BigBassBob's topic in General Discussion
It turns out that at the end the manager refused to pay on the grounds that he hadn't made any money and we didn't bring anybody with us.
the venue manager cant dictate the terms of the contract after the event to suit himself it is reasonable to expect a band to turn up and play in a consumate manner - it is unreasonable to expect the band to be time travelling mind readers and anticipate that the venue manager would come up with such a crass excuse after and as a consequence of low attendance/takings - if venues are going to take the attitude that bands are expected to bring along a reasonable number of punters to put money over the bar then the venue need to specify it explicitly -
Small claims court fella, should an easy win.
this +1 breach of (verbal) contract write to advise them first giving them 14 days to sort it out otherwise you will take matter to small claims court - dont forget to include the gig fee and a "reasonable admin fee"- and if youre feeling really cheeky you could include a bit of wear and tear on the PA from the damage caused by drunk persons on their premises and if they make it a long tedious drawn out process just copy the whole thing in to the local council licensing officer for good measure -
