1. being chatham we have the coutnry's biggest primark - im sure theyll have one even in my size youve given me a really wicked idea - im playing bass for one of the local singer/songwriter acts at a weekender event soon - am sooooo tempted to go onstage for charideee in a tigger costume
2. ive just GIVEN away a colorsound tonebender if youd told me about that Tigger costume i might have offered a swap
3. sorry its gone if you want to experience the fabulousness that is an original colorsound then take yourself and band for a wee recording session at ranscombe studios in rochester kent - a secluded audio heaven of analogue fantasticness!! as JIm has decided to buy my spare 115 cab which i dont need any more im going to donate it to ranscombe studios as i know for fact it will get masses of use as one of his arsenal of studio effects - medway has a thriving music scene and Jim is a very popular recording/produciton engineer (not to mention also being the best blues harpist in the country)
4. had a TE 4x10 combo back in the 90s which i was happy with the sound with the trb and status through it - only complaint about it really would be that they are ball breakingly heavy the only reason i didnt go for TE last year when i bought my latest rig was cost considerations - actually glad i went for hartke as they are IMO equal if not better than TE and definitely much more bang for your buck
5.
You think that's bad? The bass player in my band has got about £600 worth of effects pedals, including 2 envelope filters, and NO tuner!
that sounds like a fantastic option - even better THREE filters for the guitard - one high pass, one low pass and one mid
6. is it worth getting the cab checked over too? is it possible for a dodgy connection somewhere inside the cab to affect the impedance and then change the power draw on the head?
7. thin excuse i know but lets shoehorn the cardiacs in anyways http://youtu.be/1-g1R3hOUeY
8.
By contrast, there are any number of exhortative ditties which fall by the wayside, in part because they are simply too explicit and partly because the writer cannot find a word to rhyme with 'proletariat'.
this is quite explicit (kennelled in metered boxes, red dogs in debt to you)... and from the pen of a lady who is often cited as bob dylan's equal http://youtu.be/DxUu4yd_ofc
9. Prince - too many to list! - this one has a nice little groove thang going on http://youtu.be/OJ9xHHWAyos
10. woudl prefer amp/cab/effects type swap but might be open to a modest bass especially a fretless or a multi effects box for gigging convenience would be ok too edit - amp/cab wise ... anything hartke multifx - korg or zoom or whatever simillar onboard preamps - wizard pickups to mod my squierJ cuddly toy
11.
I, personally, would find a jam night a far scarier proposition to a private audition.
depends who's running it and how its run if its just a shambolic free for all and the bolshy types get the most stage time because they got the biggest most forceful egos then yes id agree but if its run by someone who keeps it as informal as possible but actually takes the time to speak with everybody who turns up either as bands or parts of or as individuals and caters for them all to have a slot in the evening and a few numbers each so everybody gets a fair share of exposure then it makes for a much more entertaining and supportive evening we have a very good local jam night round this way every monday - if young bands or individuals turn up they get to play two or three numbers usually and nobody looks down on them for any lack of technical virtuosity - if anything they get applauded for bringing different fresh ideas along to all the old crusties like me who are just happy to turn up and listen/play endless renditions of the same old favourites
12. some interesting comments from Billy Corgan

14.
A percussionist friend I occasionally play with was approached to play the opening ceremony of the Olympics. He agreed, but he's been told he won't be paid, not even expenses. The gig will cost him about £200 to do, they require 3 rehearsals - plus petrol, time, food and drink, etc. He's thinking of giving it a miss. But maybe you think he should celebrate this wonderful and remarkable event by spending £200 to play at it.
you would think that macdonalds would be able to sponsor him (and others like him) given the obscene profits they will be making from the entire proceedings?
15. just point out the above to whoever is asking edit- presumably there will be figures/accounts publicly available? would be interesting to know what the event planner fee is!
