So, I've got this 2007 EVOii 500 ABM head. Not had it that long, got it in a trade against my Markbass F1, and I love the sounds it make. HEAD - There are a couple of little marks in the case tolex, but on close inspection it seems to have been very lightly used, and has no issues "mechanically" whatsoever. CAB - quite a few little nicks etc, but it is in decent if not excellent condition for a used cab. Importantly, it sounds mint and is fully 100% functional. I am not in any desperate state to get rid of it at all, as it gives me that warm, valve-y, and when necessary gritty sound that I love and that the F1 could not do. However, if anyone fancies some sort of deal involving something else then hit me up... Might be keen to try a GB Streamliner, or an Orange Bass Terror 500, or any other heads that have some preamp tube involvement, as this is the tone I love. Money - well, I think the head must be worth close to £350 ovno either in a trade or as a straight sale, so we can talk about cash adjustments etc etc. I don't mind adding a little for the right amp... For the cab, £230 seems about right. Amp is in Nottingham, anyone is welcome to pop by and have a try and a coffee. It absolutely ROCKS into my Ashdown ABM410t, it's MASSIVE sounding. Cheers all Chris

So, some of you may know that I have just bought a white Squier Vintage Modified P Bass, for just over £100. It is basically mint - like brand new, although it's not brand new. Ebay find. It's nice, plays well, build seems ok, bla bla bla. I bought it to try out the whole P bass thing (I know, I know....but I've always been a Stingray man). Having tried it, I love it, and am now in something of a quandry.... I would either like another "better" P bass (by better, read Fender I guess..I played a the new USA Standard that one of my students bought round, it was great.), OR I could upgrade this one, and this is where I am stuck. If it were as case of "money no object" I would probable just get a new USA Standard and be done with it, using the Squier as a backup. However, I have not got £1000 sitting spare, so I am thinking that upgrading could be the path to follow. However, I need advice please. Is it worth it? The bass certainly seems nice and solid enough. However, I am thinking... Bridge Pickups Nut Pots/wiring Tuners Whatever else.....there is not really much else is there lol? I have access to a superb luthier, and will be seeking their advice too, but would like to know what folk on here who have done this before think please? What parts should I be looking at. What sort of cost involved, and above all, is it worth it, or should I just spend the cash on another bass? Thanks Chris

I like the heads. I did a guitar gig last week, and the bass player had a LMiii, but was using a Barefaced Super Twelve T (or whatever its called). It sounded excellent. Furthermore, I was doing the PA for the gig too, and it was a BIG hall, but I only had to put a small amount of him through the PA such was the projection of the rig. Impressive.

So, My new (to me) mint second hand Squier Vintage Modified P bass and my new (to me) Ashdown ABm rig Just had a loud riffing session at home....it sounds like BASS....suddenly my Stingray is second best....this rig rocks...and it cost me sod all in the grand scheme of things. I forgot that the bass cost me £114 on ebay, and the rig around £600 (with all trades accounted for)...and found myself just playing and smiling. Anyone else had a similar epiphany, where the equipment just "got out of the way" and you simply made music? Thought I would share. Cheers Chris

But it looks exactly like a new one. I'm riffing on it now and as my first p bass after years of rays I think I've found something good.

£114. It's as new. And really nice. Just picked it up from a mile away. Thought it worth a punt, and it seems ace for the money. Thought I'd share. Its unmarked white. Also got a stand, cheap gig bag and tuner thrown in.
Nah, I've just pulled my VM Precision out and I can't see much that'd help either. In fact, I don't even know from the serial who built this one.. apparently conventional wisdom is that at the start of the serial number: ICxx is Indonesian, made by Cort in year xx ISxx is Indonesian, made by Samick in year xx Mine is ICS09xxxxxx, so... go figure
This one starts ics. It's only down the road so might see if I can get it at a good prIce. Are they any good?
LowEndRegister, there is nothing to stop a band requiring a triangle player advertising on here. Yes, it IS a Bass forum and no, they are less likely to find the musician they require here than somewhere else. So why are you giving them a hard time? I commend MichaelG for not rising to your to your offensive tone towards the band. Maybe it's best to not say anything if you don't have anything useful to add? PM'ing...
Plus the one

I've had this for years, and last year got it professionally modified. It now sports two SD Basslines pickups, and a custom tort scratchplate. Not exactly sure which Basslines they are, as I cannot remember, but they are soapbars, and there is a 9v battery. The eq is passive I think, with vol, blend, single tone. Sounds ace. Sounds really nice - like a good J bass I think - and plays brilliantly. I need a P bass so need to raise funds. Will get some pics up. Bass is in Nottingham. Price wise I think £200 but I welcome offers. Chris

Thanks. It wasn't that I thought it a fake, just that they might be selling it as something it is not.

Hi I've found the above bass used and local to me, but before I buy it, does anyone know how I can tell from the serial number that it is on fact a genuine vintage modified one and not just a boggo squire?
Additional detail bump.. If it makes any difference, I've found the spare strings and they're 1 set of Warwick Black Label 45-135 round stainless, and 1 set of generic 45-130 round nickel steel. Also, if you wanted the original pickups, strap buttons and plastic knobs to return it to stock config, I believe I've still got those and we could come to a deal that included them. Any interest before I resign myself to having to fleabay it? Cheers, Ed
Pm sent

I found this when I had gs112 cabs 2of, driven 500w from Lm2. I was very underwhelmed by the cabs, I think they are overrated. Might be due to their mid shy sound, to me they did not cut it.
