F**K! Eude! come on man, ive just been looking at the shuker site looking at what I some day could afford/want. then the first thing I look at in gear porn is pretty much exactly what ive just been specking up for myself, id want a full maple neck though. Mate, tell me where you live and the next time your out Edit: The Jazz bass btw.
Hey man, It's a pretty sweet bass, even if I do say so myself. I'm very very happy with it, especially now the ACG pre is in too. It's become my main gigging/rehearsal bass, keeping my 6er, my pride and joy, nice and safe for home and studio use, at least for now. No point in telling you where I live, as the bass tends to come with me most places... If you're ever in or around Edinburgh though bud, give me a shout, more than happy to let you have a go. Cheers, Eude
  2. Gorgeous mate! That bass is giving me serious GAS! Eude
  3. Yup, fully agree with everyone's comments above. Want to just say enormous thanks to Alan (Skelf) for going to such an effort to organise this bash, I hope that this goes on to be a regular event and that the poor turn out doesn't spoil things. The venue was perfect and those who turned up where all incredibly sound guys and brilliant players who all brought a wealth of basses and other equipment to try out. Was a real pleasure to meet you all, great to put real names and faces to the usernames on basschat and even awesome to get my hands on so many different basses in one afternoon - all the way from a 1 string to a 12 string! Even had a shot of a very fine G**tar that Alan made too. Spose, everyone who didn't comes' loss was very much our gain. Plus I got off lightly and didn't have to perform probably the scariest gig I could ever think of - in front of an audience made up almost entirely of bass players! Cheers guys and lets make the next one even better! Eude
  4.
I'm guessing here but there might be a few other basses there to play, if your's don't make it I'll even let you play one of mine for a second or two...
A go on my Shukers for a go of your ACGs? Eude
  5. Looking forward to this little shindig See y'all soon! Eude

Right, got my ACG preamp in and it's absolutely amazing! Very confident I can dial in a nice aggressive burpy low mid tone no problem. I've also changed from Nickel to Stainless Steel strings for a bit more of an edge, D'Addario Pro Steels to be precise and they're very very nice I had considered putting this one out to pasture, but not now, very very happy with it. Cheers, Eude
  8.
After a coupla decades on RS66 (and, occasionally, Warwick Reds) I am currentl running D'addario Pro Steels. Seriously, give 'em a go. Good VFM, too!
The Nexus strings are off. The finish started flaking quite badly over the frets which makes me think they're no different to the spacers which where pulled a while ago. The strings are coated, but not coated enough obviously... Got some of those Pro Steels on now, very nice too Cheers, Eude
  9. OK guys, I had the ACG preamp installed in the Pub Bass and it's woken it up! The limitations of the vol/vol/tone controls have gone and I now have a bewildering range of options. As a result of this, this bass has been withdrawn from sale. Thanks for your interest though. Cheers, Eude
  10.
The up to date prices are here... Rich.
I did not need to see that! I thought a 6 string headless Original King Bass Std. with a bendwell would've not only been the stuff of a mad man's dreams but ludicrously expensive! It's terrifying to think that it'd only be £1695! I know it's a lot, but it's a lot of bass for that kind of money... Ooo errr... Eude

  12.
How are they doing?
Hey guys, the strings are OK, but not a revelation. The tension is a little too soft I think, I thought they where a lot like Sunbeams, but they're a little softer. They're not super bright, very nickel(y) but they're very even tone wise across the strings. They look awesome, but the finish has chipped away, albeit only slightly on one string, incidentally after I played them with a plectrum. They haven't changed at all brightness-wise since they've been on, and they've survived 2 practices and 2 gigs, which is quite impressive. Overall, they're alright but I'm going to go for something a bit brighter when they eventually wear out, might try the DR Black Beauties... Good buy if you like the sound of nickel strings and soft string tension, oh and they do look very very cool Cheers, Eude
hey Eude! nice basses man! obbm's feedback

Just got some cables from Dave. Fantastic sounding and looking! These are replacing my BassMonster cables and there's basically no difference, think they might even look cooler Great price and really fast service, will be buying some more soon, very soon. Thanks Dave!
  16. I'll happily vouch for Nectar3 (Aly). He's recently joined my band on Keyboards/Geetar and is a really sound bloke. I can also vouch for this bass, I had a good shot of it last week at rehearsal and it's an absolute peach! It's in perfect nic and gets that wonderful classic Stingray sound straight off the bat. Cheers, Eude
  17. Absolutely gorgeous mate! Baby Doodle is a corker! Eude
  18.
Ah, this is a shame. Now, a 33" jazz 4 is exactly what I want - I'm loving my 33" Shuker 5. However, I just bought a Moon 4 and Edinburgh is quite far away...I shall watch this thread with interest. Good luck!
Hey Mike, still a little undecided, we'll see how the ACG Pre goes, should come next week sometime, I think. If I do end up parting with the bass though, I am in London for the weekend a fair bit so I could meet there, or near there with the bass to let anyone try it out. Cheers, Eude
  19. Pic fixed now guys. Something had gone weird with my hosting. Jon, not totally set on selling yet, but it's a possibility. I just wish I was rich enough to shelve this bass for the right occasion, and orde something more suitable... Cheers, Eude
  20. Hey guys, still not close to being decided on this. I just want to see if there might be any interested folks out there. I got this bass to use as my gigging instrument to save me worrying about my 6 string Shuker in and around seedier venues... I opted to go for something very different sound-wise to contrast nicely with my 6 string and provide me with a bigger tonal palette for recording, however my ear always leans back to a more grunty, low mid rangey, aggressive sound, ala MusicMan, and I can't really get anything close to that on this bass without relying heavily on the EQ of my amp. I am giving the bass one last chance however. I'm fitting an ACG preamp ASAP, this might fix the problem, however if it doesn't this bass will be up for sale, with or without the ACG preamp to fund another more suitable custom. I've also found that I'm missing my low B string a fair bit too, more than I thought I would Once again, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the bass at all, it's a brilliant instrument, but it's not quite meeting my needs. It's very lightweight, a breeze to play and provides a really nice range of warm, dark vintage tones, unfortunately I need something more modern, burpy and aggressive. It's in absolutely perfect condition, only a few months old and has only been gigged 3 times and would come with a Gator hard case. I will not be looking for trades, as I now know I need something very specific to me, so it's unlikely that anyone has anything suitable... Here's the spec >> Downsized J Bass shape, Slab Finished Black Walnut body with Black Wet Look Gloss finish and matching headstock 33" Scale 5 piece Mahogany/Wenge neck with graphite rods, 22 frets and Rosewood Fingerboard EMG JV pickups and electronics with vol /vol /tone control layout More pics here >> http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39571 PM me if you're interested or have any questions. Cheers, Eude
  21.
Received an email from Jon last night. The body has been routed, shaped and is ready to accept the neck. The neck is cut and routed to shape ready for the fretboard. Once the fretboard is on the neck can be glued into the body. I've been told that I shall receive some photos tomorrow. Glee
Wow! That's quick mate! Good news though, can't wait to see 'em pics! Eude
  22. Whynot - Awesome looking bass dude, shame it's the wrong way round Quick question, how close a sound can you get to a proper Musicman Stingray with the MM pickup? I played a Stingray 5 for the first time tonight and I think I'm in love... Cheers, Eude
  23.
I'm in. It's the 19th from 11.00, right? Pete
I believe so dude. I'll have my 33" Shukers for you to finally have a go of too Cheers, Eude
