1. Awesome set up mate! How'd you like the Aguilar head? If I was to go for something "bigger" I'd be sorely tempted by one of them. Love yer Sandberg too, although I now know I'm not a Jazz Bass guy - at least sound-wise, I quite often trawl through their website for a bit of a perv, their "antiquing" is brilliant! Thumbs up from me too! Eude
 2.
Yeah there's a SUB 5 in the USA on eBay just now. Tempting, despite the nasty finishes of them!
Well the Sub Ray my mate sold sounded amazing! You can always change the finish and buy a proper Stingray scratchplate for it too, I think somebody on here, possibly Beedster? sanded the neck on his to reveal a very nice bit of wood! They had to stop making them as they where making an enormous loss, plus the Sub Ray 5 string was getting a reputation for sounding more like a USA Stingray 4 string than the USA 5 string version... Good luck mate, even if you can't move now, those Subs do come up from time to time. Check out Talkbass.com 's classifieds too, there's plenty of European based folks on there as well as Americans. Cheers, Eude
 3. Sweet dude - that Greenburst is lush! Eude
 4.
What's the string spacing like on those? I've realised recently that I prefer the narrower 16-17mm bridge spacing of some basses. The G&L Tributes look good but I've never seen one up here in Scotland. I've always wanted one of the ASAT/Telecaster shaped ones like Cass Lewis had.
http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...ute+L-2500/10/1 16mm according to this review? - Not sure I believe that though, 16.5mm more likely. Can't find anything on the official website, but the concensus seems to be that it's narrow(ish). Aha! - http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=435499 - from the official G&L Forum on Talkbass.com I reckon it's going to be the same as a Musicman, seeing as they're of the same stock, 17.5mm Eude
 5.
Here's mine! Excuse the crap iphone pics
Man, I love your bass! Eude
 6.
I got a G+L tribute 2500 a while ago and it sounds great, just like an expensive G+L! Really well made with a nice neck got mine for 300 s/h but I'm sure they are pretty cheap new too. I've owned a lot of basses over the years and it is one of the best.
Hadn't thought of that Top basses those G&L Tributes by all accounts! Eude
 7.
Cheers EUDE, I'll add the MM SUB 5 to my list of possibles - seems obvious now! BTW - My Streamer Standard is a German built Warwick as opposed to a Rockbass. I've been on the Warwick forum and it seems that the 2010 Rockbasses will have a 'W' logo and 2 piece bridge and a version of the Corvette $$ is on the cards! I'm not too worried about getting a less prestige bass: I sold my graphite necked Status Groove and bought a Squier VM jazz last year.
Nice one mate, yeah I know not everyone is obsessed with Prestige basses, sorry about that. I didn't know that about those changes to the Rockbasses, that'll really bring their game up If you can stretch a little further, you could look at one of ACG's rather lovely Graft Basses >> http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=49604 - very nice basses and completely and made Best of luck dude! Eude
 8.
I'm selling my Streamer STD just now and will be looking to get a 5 string with a budget of about £500 once the 'Wick goes. There are loads of 5s out there for that money but I have some pretty strict requirements: At least one humbucker pickup in the Musicman 'sweetspot' position Active preamp preferred Narrow string spacing about 16-17mm at the bridge No solid colours - I like to see the wood my basses are made from No basses with odd sized pickups (like the Ibanez ATK) - I like to swap pickups and electronics Smaller body preferred I'll consider new or used. I've been doing some searching online and have found various options but none that I have actually been able to see or try in person. I've seen a used Warwick Fortress Masterman on Bass Direct's site but the electronics look too complicated to me. Also has anyone tried any of these? Dean Sledge Hammer or Rockbass Streamer STD Blackhawk 5 str? Any other suggestions welcome. Remember I don't have the cash right now if you try to pimp your bass to me!
Hey mate, I reckon that Warwick Fortress would be your best bet. It'd be a leap up in quality from your Streamer Std. too, rather than a sidestep which you would get with either the Dean or the Rockbass. The EQ isn't that complex either, just a bass and treble control for each of the coils in the humbucking pickup, with a single volume and a blend between the two coils. I'm sure you could swap out the current setup for a vol/bass/treble without too much bother, it just means you'd be running the humbucking pickup with both coils on the whole time, which would probably sound the best anyway. The only other option I would consider would be keeping an eye out for a Musicman Sub Stingray 5 string. It would meet all your requirements exactly. They occasionally come on here or appear on ebay for about £500 odd, might be worth putting up a wanted add. Annoyingly our keyboard player sold his recently for about that, if I'd had the cash myself I'd have taken it off his hands in a second... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=45399&hl=Sub There's one here >> http://guildford.gumtree.com/guildford/60/41284560.html Just missed this one >> http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=52993&hl=Sub Also, don't mean to dis the Dean or Rockbass basses, just the Warwick or the MM Sub are considered to be better quality basses. Good luck mate, Eude
 9.
it does seem that the chaps who have the longest waits are the ones getting loads of pictures sent through for build diaries.
I left Jon alone pretty much for the Jazz Bass, think I got about 5 photos tops over the 11 month period, so I'm not sure that's a factor to be honest... Eude
 10. Shuker basses are amazing! Jon is a real craftsman and can pretty much build anything you can dream up plus his prices are more than reasonable, not sure how he does it! I've had 2 of Jon's basses, the first is a 6 string 33" scale single-cut which is my go to bass, which I'll never ever part with. The second was a 4 string 33" all black Jazz Bass, which unfortunately I had to let go just recently, as I discovered the wood choices and the whole Jazz Bass sound just wasn't me, no fault of Jon's though, he built me exactly what I asked for and it was an amazing bass, just not my bass... Jon's timescales have gone a little bit off of late, partly down to the volume of work he's taken on, being flooded once, possibly twice and his assistant being off work for a prolonged amount of time, leaving Jon to do absolutely everything himself. My 6 string was Jon's first bolt-on single-cut and his first 33" scale bass but he still managed to get it to me in about 12 weeks, however my arguably much simpler Jazz Bass took almost 11 months, but it was down to bad timing as detailed above. Jon is an incredibly nice guy and a real pleasure to work with, the only issue I've ever had has been the speed of response by email and the occasional missed email too, but I'm sure everyone would agree, they'd prefer he channeled all his energy into making incredible basses rather than being brilliant at admin. There are of course other bass builders out there and for a full on non-fender custom jobs I would make sure and look around to be sure you're getting exactly what you want, but if you're looking for a straight up super fender style bass I wouldn't bother knocking on anyone else's door. I'm not sure how they'd compare to a Sadowsky, but I'm sure they'd give them a pretty good run for the money, with a lot more options and they work out a fair bit cheaper too. As far as resale goes, I'm not sure a custom bass is ever really going to hold it's value that well. It's usually a combination of irrational and entirely personal decisions that make someone's "dream bass", but quite often somebody's dream is somebody else's nightmare... Obviously if you go down the more classic Jazz or Precision style bass you're more likely to get your money back than on something like my 6 string. The resale on my Jazz Bass wasn't great, but again it was quite customised, 33" scale, slab body, quite specific wood choices and EMGs, but it found a good home where it's loved which I'm very pleased about. That's my 2p then Cheers, Eude
 11. Something has come up forcing me to withdraw this from sale as I can't afford to replace it, even with the sale I'd end up cab-less... Sorry for messing folks about. Eude
 12. Sorry guys, no photos, can't get back from work till later so it'll be dark(ish). I'll try and take some tomorrow morning... It's almost in identical condition to the photo in the post above, but it has some scuffing to the plastic corners which I'll try and capture tomorrow. Cheers, Eude
 13.
A wee bit more progress, my mouth is watering. Happy days! D.
Looking good mate Eude
 14.
Regarding the scale length thing, I'm starting to wonder if the sonic difference has a significant effect upon how you play? I just feel like with my 36" scale I'm playing a bit more like on a double bass, more open strings, fewer notes, a more percussive BIG note vibe as opposed to slinking about. Like the opposite of Norman Watt-Roy on Rhythm Stick. Alex
You might be right there mate. I've always been a fairly busy player and I've always struggled with longer scale lengths, particularly a home made 36" 6 string, god only knows what I was thinking Having now moved to 33" my left hand rarely feels tired and I've never cramped up once, even without warming up properly... Eude
 15.
I've not actually had much experience with chambered basses. But Enrico and Roberto have been going crazy over their latest experiment with the chambered extra deep bubinga body, so I'm not going to say no to the added benefit of this Mark
All Sadowsky basses in recent years have been chambered too - Lighter Weight - More Resonant. Can't be a bad thing surely... Eude
 16. Hey guys, I'm thinking about parting with my Aguilar GS112 cab. It's a cracking wee cab and has really opened my eyes up to the fact that bigger isn't necessarily always better. It can produce a thunderous low end considering the size of the box. This is the one with the tweeter, so you can dial in a nice bit of high end slice or fizzle if you want too. It's and 8 Ohm cab by the way. I'm considering letting this go as I'd like to try something else, just to mix things up, but I'm sure I'll miss this little powerhouse... I've owned the cab since new, bought it September 2007, and it's had fairly light use. It has been gigged, but not even at moderate levels, only ever been used in isolation for tiny pub acoustic gigs and for stage monitoring at larger venues. I've been using it with a MarkBass LittleMark 250, which can only generate 150W at 8 Ohms at full tilt and I've never even had it beyond a third of the volume! It's in very good condition, the carpet is perfect, no dents or dings, however the plastic corners are a little scraped from use, but not badly. I'm putting this up for a couple of weeks while I go on holiday to judge interest, as I'd need to sell this before I can order it's replacement. I probably won't be able to reply to any messages or PMs from the 25th of July till the 8th of August, but feel free to fire away and I'll get back to any interested parties upon my return. These things are now going for about £385 new, so I'd be hoping to get about £280 for it plus postage. Original pic here >> http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...ost&p=77706 I'll post pics of the cab as it is now later tonight, just so you can be sure of the condition. Cheers, Eude
 17.
I saw a teal/green one, but it was such a deep colour it could be perceived as a number of other colours. I believe that one was a 33" scale. Robert Badoglio is a big Matt Garrison afficionado, albeit with his own sound. That bass is verrrrry similar spec wise to Matt Garrison's latest Fodera bass (semihollow body with Koa top!). Mark
That's probably the one dude. I think you're right, it could of been called any one of several "oceany" colours. Haven't seen that new bass you're talking about yet, I'll have to have a wee look about tonight. Does Matt have a W&T bass at all? Eude
 18. Nice one dude I like the sound of the bass more and more. I take it that bass was a 33"er too? Just a guess based on the bridge position. Did you see the dark blue W&T Klimt that went through Bass Direct recently? I'm generally not into coloured basses, but man it was gorgeous! Eude
 19. Brilliant spec mate Very jealous.... What made you go for the Zoid shape then? Or is it part of the secret? Looking forward to see the modifications anyway. Will it look anything like the one on here? >> http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=50477 That bass is pure sex If you'll pardon my french... One other question, the pickup, is it a neck pickup with the coils in the two different locations? Oh and what made you go chambered too? Eude
 20.
Sweet. Sounds like a plan. It won't be for a little while as I'm getting married in 2 weeks (woo!). But I'll be in touch after that. Re: shorter scale instruments. I would love to blend guitar and bass into one instrument, (initial thoughts are fanned fret 32" to 29", strung EADGCFAD - seems a good idea). But I'd need to slowly figure that one out spec wise. Mark
Now that would be cool. I've been messing with the idea of a 30" six string with a swappable nut, or perhaps a zero fret and some clever string guides to allow B to C or E to E (Baritone Guitar) tuning... One day anyway, but not until this blasted recession is over... Good luck with the wedding mate Eude
 21.
Well, my bro lives in Edinburgh, so next time I'm up (I'm due to visit him at some point) we could have a get together! You could check out the Klimt and I could check out your Shuker. Mutually beneficial all round! I'm happy with 34" or 33" scale. They're so similar I don't notice. What I do like about 33" scale is that it's one inch closer to 32" inch (which I'm tempted to go for on this bad boy) which makes for a shorter more manageable bass... which is one inch away from 31... etc etc. I just wish basses were as compact as guitars sometimes. Mark
I'm totally with you on that one dude! My regular basses are all gonna be 33"ers from now on, but I'm really tempted to go for a 31" or a 30" 4 string at some point. There's no reason these days that basses have to enormous and ungainly... A meet up in Edinburgh would be awesome mate! Just drop me a PM when you think you might be headed up and we can arrange some bassing! Cheers, Eude
 22.
It's only an inch shorter! Honestly, I don't feel it makes much of a difference in terms of length, but there is slight drop in string tension (compared to same string gauge on a 34" scale). I don't massively observe this drop, but it is definitely there. Hopefully speaking to Enrico about this tonight so will give add an update once things are more concrete. Mark
33" basses are the way forward as far as I'm concerned. My Shuker 6 string is a 33" as was my, now ex, Shuker J Bass. They're just that little bit easier to get about on without being noticeably shorter. I've not noticed a big difference in tension at all either, no bigger than what you would find moving between different string manufacturers... Looking forward to seeing this one develop, I'm a huge fan of W&T basses Eude

I havent put it down in the last 3 days. absolutely loving it, the ACG pre is emense too!
Glad you're digging it dude The ACG PRe is something else too innit?! So you enjoying the 33" scale? It just makes the bass so freakin' playable doesn't it! Cheers, Eude
