1.
another pre-neck fitting update - the headstock is completed, I love these frequent updates
Hot Damn Steve! You do know I'm probably going to eat that fingerboard if I ever see it in the flesh - it looks like marbled chocolate cake! Can't wait to see the bass when it's complete Eude
 2. Congrats dude. Glad someone had the sense to snap this up! Cheers, Eude
 3. Nice one Steve! Can you contain your excitement? It's going to be a beauty. Eude
 4. Bump from me too. If I had got off my a**e and sold my LittleMark250 by now, I'd have taken this off you in a second! If it's still around in a couple of weeks or so I'll be knocking on your door matey Eude
 5. I say go for it You've found a bass that feels perfect, that's half the battle. It doesn't make the sound you want and you've not had any luck selling it, so why not mod it? Best of luck with the project mate, looking forward to watching it develop. Eude
 6.
Today is a good day!! My Clement #177 is complete!! Just have to wait for her to cross the pond into my waiting hands!!
Congrats mate, that's a beaut! This is gonna be the worst bit of the wait I guess... It'll be with you soon though Eude
 7.
I've seen them go for £100, but some have priced them much lower at around £80.
Thanks man, that's roughly what I was thinking Now to give it a clean and get it up on the for sale board. Cheers, Eude
 8. Hey guys, I'm hoping to shift my Sansamp Bass Driver DI to fund a nice simple DI box. It's the original model, a little over 10 years old, but in good nic, with the original box and instructions. This ain't my one, but gives an idea of how it compares to the newer model with more switches. I'll get a pic of my own one sorted for the sale thread. Anyone got any idea of the value before I punt it up for sale?... Thanks in advance for your help you lot Eude
 9.
ah...had a feeling you were going to get an ACG......Nice, looks like a really well thought out sensible spec
Thanks dude It's been a long on going spec and build, wanted to get the best setup for what I do everyday, without too much messing about The Bloodwood fingerboard is a bit of an extravagance, was originally going to be Rosewood, but it just spoke to me on one of my many visits to to annoy Alan, so I just had to go with it. It was that or some crazy figured Mango, that might make an appearance at a later date though... Cheers, Eude
 10. Congrats mate - that looks amazing! You must be over the moon with your bass What's all the controls? Looks right different from my Shuker Preamp... Eude
 11.
If for any reason I can't get a guarantee claim on my Monster lead then I fully intend on doing business with our own OBBM for a replacement quality lead.
+1 Can't recommend Dave's stuff enough Eude
 12.
Sounds fascinating, and I'd love to see what results you get. The problem I foresee is that - if you do discover a difference - knowing whether it's audible or not.
I guess a lot of it will be inaudible, if there is a difference. Should be able to work out what is and isn't though via the powers of google and/or wikipedia. Will keep you posted... On a side note, I can't fault the build quality of Monster Cables, that is worth a little extra cash at least. Eude
 13.
I just tried a quick A/B test on two cables I have. One is 20ft; the other is 4ft. The plugs and cable are identical. The resistance of the longer one is therefore *five times* that of the shorter one. I listened specifically for differences in volume. There may have been one but I couldn't hear it. The input LEDs on my preamp lit up to exactly the same level, too. Mmmmm.
Think the only true way to test the theory would be to use a Spectrum Analysier and get some screen shots for comparison, think there's one in Logic. I might be doing some recording tonight, so if there's time, I'll see if there is a difference. My new ACG has Neutrik locking jack, not head anything about Monster cables damaging them, so I'll give it a go this once. Cheers, Eude
 14. I'd love to just have one of these and nowt else! I've been running my LittleMark flat for a wee while now, so a nice light and loud power amp like this would be perfect! Bet it'll be a pricey number though... Eude
 15. I've had a separate issue with Monster Cables, with them being so oversized, the plugs can damage switchcraft style jacks, had to replace the jack on my Shuker twice before I worked it out, and through the time I had my Warwick, I had to replace the jack a fair few times n'all... Wee thread here >> http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=405828 Thought it might be of interest. (I now only use Bassic Cables by OBBM )
I will use my old faithfull.I was given a whirlwind lead about ten years ago and its still going strong.will keep you guys posted.t
I've had a Whirlwind cable for 17 years, still going strong! Eude
 16. Hey Mr. Wavey, welcome to the forum! I've been following your build on TalkBass. That's gonna be a one hell of a bass! What's the ETA? Eude
 17.
I love it. Congratulations Eude.
Thanks man Eude
 18.
Sweeeet. I love the trans black style finish. Really simple but elegant and classy at the same time. Simplicity with elegance is clearly the way to go with custom basses at the moment.
I hear ya man! Simple elegance, I like that Eude
 19.
Umm... anytime now? Basically, they're just finishing everything up. As I mentioned, they are restringing with slightly higher gauge strings because they feel this will contribute to and enhance the overall sound of the bass (which I was contemplating doing for tonal reasons anyway, seeing as I won't ever be bending on this bass). Once they've made sure everything is as it should be, the bass will be shipped! This should be by Jan 10 (give or take). I'm pleased it's happening in January rather than over the Christmas peak - makes it less likely that the bass will be sat in a cold shipping port for a long period of time.
Awesome news mate Did you see what I picked up on Monday?... Eude
 20.
If you described that bass by words only, I'd probably have puked, but the strange thing is, it is really, really beautiful and I feel quite emotional.
He he. Yeah, I guess it sounds weird on paper, bloomin' works though Glad you like it mate. Eude
 21.
Thanks for the answer, and yes, it did. Is the ACG a passive pickup with active EQ, or both active pickup and EQ? Can you bypass the EQ to make it an entirely passive instrument?
No probs mate. As far as I'm aware, the ACG has a passive pickup and active EQ. You can't bypass the EQ, but there's a low battery indicator, so that meets the only issue I've ever had with active instruments anyway, in my opinion they sound better off the bat, I like a lot of headroom and are obviously a lot more flexible, I fully accept it's horses for courses on that one though Eude
 22.
Incedible looking bass mate, i'm really chuffed for you. The dirty swamp ash finish is really different and it works really well with the bloodwood
Thanks mate It worked out really well, the bloodwood is just incredible in the flesh too. The only downside to all of this is, you'd assume you'd be cured of GAS at least for a wee while, but I've got a list of future customs just waiting!... Eude
 23.
Wow - that's stunning! The finish on that ash is amazing - you must be very pleased!
Oh, I am
 24.
Gorgeous. I love the idea of pairing the single overwound pickup with the tonal variety of the ACG pre-amp. Dare I ask how it compares to your Shuker?
It's a pretty powerful combination! No bother at all asking about how it compares to the Shuker. My Shuker and how I use it day to day was actually the starting point for this bass. I love the sound and playability of the bass, but I find I'm really only using the lower 5 strings for all my gigging and practicing needs at the moment and for the foreseeable, bar noodling at home, so it had to be a 5 string. I only ever use the front pickup on the Shuker, which is one of those seriously hot EMG DC pickups, which is why I went with the pickup overwound spec, also, I tend to leave the EQ flat on it and boost the low mids on the amp, so I'll be able to use the ACG pre to do that and rely on my amp solely for amplification from now on. The white ash body of the Shuker gets "my sound", but can be a little heavy, at times, hence the Swamp Ash. I really miss the Wenge neck from my ol' Warwick, which I associate with a little bit of growl, so I specced that too. I opted for a simple, no obviously fancy wood option here too, as this is meant to be a working instrument. So I guess the short answer is it's similar, but different, at least soundwise. Both basses can make very different noises which either bass can't mimic, however there's a clear middle ground which is "my sound". The Shuker can be a bit more delicate, and with the bridge pickup can get a bit more Jaco-esque, where the ACG can be a lot more aggressive, and enormous sounding, I'm still exploring of course though... That answer your question dude? Eude
 25.
Don'cha just love it when a plan comes together!? The bass looks fantastic and I wish you both a long and happy life together.

Looks awesome!
Thanks guys I'm one happy bunny! Stayed up late last night just playing without the amp, I'm going to have to get some kind of headphone amp... Eude
