My Shukers

I'm afraid I had to let the J Bass go, I just wasn't getting along with the Jazz Bass sound. It's now in the very capable hands of Jobiebass though, so I know it'll be happy. Still got my 6 string though So I'm just a one bass guy for the foreseeable, but what a bass! Cheers, Eude
  2.
Bumping an old thread... Hey Eude, the visual balance between the smaller headstock and body looks really nice! Is this bass body the same size as a standard Jazz bass, or is it slightly smaller? If it is, how wide is it accross? I would like the same kind of proportions on my P bass. Cheers!
Sorry dude, The bass is a fair bit smaller than a regular jazz bass, but the proportions are perfect. I'm afraid, for anything else, you'll have to ask Jobiebass questions regarding this bass now, it's no longer mine... Cheers, Eude

  7.
Free bump for Eude! Just got to play this bass - lovely instrument, 33" scale makes it easy to play. And the ACG preamp is very flexible indeed! More than I can stretch to at the moment - the missus might have something to say if I bought a 4th bass....! Good luck mate, it's a beautiful instrument. Jon Shuker does sterling work! Pete
Thanks Pete Glad you liked the bass. Was great to meet you and thanks for letting me try your Laklands and your crazy Acme cab! Cheers, Eude

  16. God man! We need more than that! Loverly bit of wood, but don't leave us dangling... Eude
  17. Well, I'm afraid my Shuker J Bass is definitely for sale now. I've given it my best shot, the bass looks amazing, feels amazing but I'm just not getting on with the sound, I'm just not a Jazz Bass guy... I've spent a fair few nights and practices A/Bing my two Shukers and the Jazz has to go. Credit to Jon Shuker, he made me exactly what I asked for, I thought that having something to contrast with my 6er would've made sense, but I'm afraid there's a sound my ears need to hear, that compliments how I play and sits right in my band and it's just not a sound I can get out of a Jazz Bass. It's priced to move, and given the current lull in basses changing hands at the mo, I'm looking for offers in the region £1000 A fair bit less than it's worth plus it also has an ACG Preamp in there now too! NO trades please. I'll ship it at the buyer's expense in a Gator case. Feel free to PM me if have any questions. Cheers, Eude
  18.
Thanks for all the input! I'm definitely going for a 33" scale! The luthier says its not a problem for him to build, and also he has found a supplier for the birdseye maple fretboard! So here is my bass specs: Strings: 6 Design: Single cut Neckthru (body shape like a Fodera Imerial elite) Birdseye Maple pickup covers with Walnut Ramp Frets: 24 Scale:33" Woods: Crotch or Figured Walnut Top and Ash or Alder Body Neck: Wenge Neck with walnut topped headstock Fretboard: Birdseye Maple with Wenge block inlays Hardware: Colour: Gold Tuners: Warwick or Gotoh Tuners Bridge: 17.5mm spacing , not sure which make yet. Nut: Brass Nut Strap Locks: Flush mount Electrics: Pickups: 2 x Bartolini G6 narrow Soapbars Preamp: John East U-retro Deluxe
Nice spec dude. Do you ave any pics of your luthier's previous work? Eude
  19. Absolutlely brilliant collection mate. I've personally played each and every one of those basses and I'm inconsolably jealous of you Mark! You're a lucky dog Hope you're doing well man Oh, and LeftyJ - the Tyler was an absolute dream to play! Cheers, Eude
  20.
Thanks for the replies! The luthier i'm having my bass built by is a finnish luthier named Marko Ursin, i've seen a couple of basses that a friend of mine has had built and they're pretty nice basses. The current spec of the bass is: Fodera Imperial elite shaped sigle cut 6 string thru neck 33" scale Ash or Alder body with a crotch or Figured Walnut top Wenge Neck Birdseye maple fingerboard with abalone block inlays 18mm spaced Gotoh bridge Gotoh tuners fluch mount strap locks birdseye maple pickup covers Walnut Ramp I'm having a bit of trouble trying to decide on pickups and preamp for the bass, i'd really like a set or Bartolini G6's but i'm not sure if they will work with the 18mm string spacing. Does anybody know? or recommend other pickups and a pre? I think the the 33" would be good for me because all the basses i've had have been 35" and i've sometimes found them a little uncomfortable to play for long periods. I'm 5 ft 6 and my arms are quite short.
Hey man, that sounds like a pretty sweet spec I'm 5 ft 6 too and the 33" is a perfect fit, I reckon you'll love it, especially if you've been playing 35" basses! Preamp-wise, I don't think I could look past the ACG Preamp these days, it's absolutely awesome. If you like to tweak a lot, or even if you just use it to tune your sound to a room it's perfect, so so flexible! Pickups? I'm a big fan of EMG pickups, particularly the DC ones, really growly and aggressive sounding, but it depends what you want kind of sound or sounds you want from your bass. I think the EMGs do colour the sound of your bass a fair bit, so they're not for everyone... Cheers, Eude
