3.
A bit predictable but.... The Pingray. (but ask me again next week when my Wunkay arrives)
Matt, what on earth is your Wunkay?... Eude
 4.
They are wicked looking combos and what a great spec. 500w amp, with extension capabilities, wow! £550? interested.
£499 on Thomann with a rather fetching Man Bag to carry it around in >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_p5110_promethean_bundle.htm Eude
 5. Update... Mini Rig - SOLD. Posting out today and tomorrow, once it's all arrive and folks are happy, I'll be ordering me my very own little Promethean Combo. Can't freakin' wait, although I'll have to, as Thomann won't have it in stock till the 1st of July, still don't have any more gigs till the 11th of August, but how the hell am I going to annoy my neighbours in the meantime... Eude
 6.
Provided Robbie with measurements for the location of the pickups... Here's the results! (Not my Fretboard, it's just there to get an idea of positioning on the template.
Looking awesome dude
 7. No problem dude... Me with Owain's loverly Skelf (credit to Peter for the photo...) Me with my own 33" scale Finn SC just for good measure. Notice how it looks about the right size on me too, I'm also 5' 6". Cheers, Eude
 8.
Thankyou for your input guys Ordered the Promethean 2 days ago when it was in stock, just checked my account now and it says out of stock and not coming back in until the 1st of next month I had to cancel my order since i am moving house on the 28th
Boo That's pants, guess that's what comes with ordering from over the pond, thankfully I won't be in quite as much of a hurry. You'll get yourself sorted dude, "patience Danielsan..." Will keep you posted on how I get on with mine when I order it. Cheers, Eude
 9. Excellent comparison Owain. I really found that the playing position shifts a good couple of inches to the right even on Scoop's 34" Skelf (Lazerus). The kinda reverse shape of the Skelf SC makes it a very comfortable bass to play, for shorter "wombat-like" individuals like myself, or maybe even someone who wants to go for a 35", or even a 36" without the added stretch and resultant horrible wrist angle. Very nearly went for the Skelf SC for my bass, but I was seduced by the Finn SC. My next ACG will almost certainly be a Skelf though Eude
 10.
Promethean sounds great - Thomanns out of stock currently though - great combo for the money - reckon I'll be going for that too!
Can't find a bad review of it and all the youtube videos I've found, it sounds pretty darn good too. The wait for stock gives me time to oragnise the reddies Eude
 11.
Yeah me too! :-) 2010 was the year to treat myself. 2 custom builds and a wedding… :-)
Geez dude! You must've struck oil in your back garden! 2010 is a big year!
 12. 2 build diaries at the same time! You lucky pup Can't wait to see these basses develop matey... Eude
 13. Gorgeous mate
 14.
If TC did a 1x10 combo based on the RH450, I'd be all over it like a rash.
I emailed TC to ask if they have anything like this in the pipeline, still waiting to hear back... Eude
 15.
On 34" scale, the first fret is 1.9" from the nut, so you're actually creating a 32.1"-scale bass. Fret 2 is 3.7" from the nut, so capoing there gives you a 30.3"-scale bass. Quite a useful little experiment to see how you feel at medium and short scales, especially in terms of fret spacing, but it doesn't give the whole story of the feel of a purpose-built shorter neck, and the string feel (in terms of compliance/flexibility) will be quite different.
Beat me to it bud
 16.
We have talked about 33' thingies with Eude (thanks, bro ), so, going custom may be possible for me.. Now, another questie.. If I'd put capo at the 1st fret on my current bass (34 scale), and tune to E again, how would that adjust scale lenght (it would probably become less like 33', right..) and sound issues..? Just curious about that..
That'll give you a 33" scale, near enough anyway, but all your markers and muscle memory will be in the wrong place It'll give you a feel for it though, but bear in mind though, your bass isn't built for that scale, so in custom 33" bass, stiffer woods can be chosen to make sure that the tension in the strings stays good. Cheers, Eude
 17.
Ah, you like Grolsch Blond too?
To be honest, I like all the beers... Bar Draft Guinness, after a 3 day stag do in Cork, can't really face proper creamy stout anymore Eude
 18.
Forget being surprised. You'll be placing an order before you've thought about it. I'll personally vouch for the brilliance of my 33" ACG Skelf... as will the seemingly endless hordes of Basschatters who had their hands on it before I bought it. I've barely picked up another bass since I got it a month ago (and when I do I put it down again and go straight back to the Skelf). In fact, my field of vision has looked pretty much like my avatar for the last month.
Lucky bugger Loving my 33" ACG too, it pretty much plays itself, which is lucky... Eude
 19. I've had three 33" basses, still got two of them, a Shuker 6 string and an ACG 5 string. I can't recommend the slightly shorter scale enough! As far as I'm aware, there's no non-custom 33" basses currently available, but as Rich stated, Shuker do them, as do ACG, obviously. I'd guess that most luthiers will be willing do a 33", although some will charge for it. I recommend you fire Alan (Skelf on here) of ACG fame or Jon Shuker an email if you're interested in a custom 33" bass. If you have any other questions, you know where I am Eude
 20.
I'm still promoting the Minimark (not the micromark). Should go down in price a wee bit soon. Great thing that it is REALLY portable, doesn't bang on my knees and works on crowded tube. I can go to an audition, then the rehearsal, and then to a jam session all in one evening without even thinking about the amp. Those 2x6'' deliver a lot of bass, unbelievable but true. Enough as a stage monitor when XLR out to PA does the rest. When I plug in an extension cab, it makes skirts go up. Only I wish it had some more EQ - but hey, that's a preamp thing then.
I do like the idea of that, but it' a lot of cash for a lot less amp, bar the fact it's a MarkBass of course. Would love to try one all the same though, and to be honest, I don't actually use the EQ or Filters on my LittleMark. Eude
 21.
I will most likely get it end of this week, so I will let you know what I think of it if i get it before you
Awesome dude, or should I say, you lucky sod Fingers crossed I'll be able to order in the next couple of weeks. Cheers, Eude
 22.
You going to get the carry case combo Eude? http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_p5110_promethean_bundle.htm
Yeah man, great minds May as well, I'll only go out and get it later on if I don't get it now... Got a gig on Friday, then I'll get my current setup up for sale Eude
 23.
ARgh such a difficult decision between the Shuttle and the Promethean! Eude have you found any decent videos of the Shuttle?
Here's the one I found dude >. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzal2VXmpQ4 I've spoken to a few guys on ta**bass too and they've confirmed that the Genz is very HiFi and sterile, while the Promethean is more MarkBass'y, still fairly transparent, but a bit more organic. They've also said the little 10" Ibanez combo pumps out more low end than the 12" MarkBass Combo... Eude
 24.
Deepbass what about the heads that are in the Promethean and the Shuttle 3.0 10T - they are detachable from their cabs and are 300W heads, so would be suitable for driving a more powerful cab at a rock gig etc.
+1
 25.
Ooo thanks for the heads up, that is way cheaper than anywhere else! Now it is definitely between the Shuttle 3.0 10T and the Promethean. I like that the Promethean is all in one cube whereas the shuttle has the head sticking out the top, although i like that you can get that add-on cabinet for the Shuttle.
Here's the extension for the Ibanez >> http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_p110c_promethean.htm Sit's nicely underneath for a 2X10 set up...
